Be the calm protector. The steady guide. The heart‑led guardian of our community.
Help us keep every moment of SUNSHINE safe, warm and human
SUNSHINE Charity is a joyful, people‑powered movement tackling loneliness through connection, kindness and uplifting experiences. Everything we do is built on trust, humanity and care — and that’s why we’re recruiting three Safeguarding Leads (Designated Safeguarding Officers) to help us create safe, positive spaces for everyone involved.
If you’re calm, compassionate, confident with boundaries and passionate about protecting people, this role is a chance to make a profound difference.
Why this role matters
Safeguarding is the backbone of a safe, ethical, community‑driven charity. As a Safeguarding Lead, you’ll ensure SUNSHINE follows UK safeguarding good practice, supports volunteers with clarity and confidence, and responds appropriately to concerns.
You’ll help us build a culture where people feel safe, respected, listened to and protected — a culture that allows joy, connection and community to flourish.
This role is essential to our mission, and you’ll be part of a warm, supportive team that values your expertise and your humanity.
Key duties will include
-
Be a designated point of contact for safeguarding concerns raised by volunteers, participants or partners.
-
Receive, record and assess concerns calmly, clearly and in line with UK safeguarding standards.
-
Promote safe, positive practice across the charity, helping volunteers understand boundaries and responsibilities.
-
Ensure SUNSHINE’s safeguarding policy is followed and updated as we grow.
-
Liaise with statutory agencies when required, ensuring concerns are escalated appropriately.
-
Support volunteers with guidance, reassurance and clarity — never clinical advice.

Champion a culture of safety, dignity and respect across all activities.
