Job description

SECRETARY / GOVERNANCE LEAD — SUNSHINE CHARITY

The organised heartbeat of a joyful, human‑driven movement.

Be the steady hands behind the SUNSHINE

SUNSHINE Charity is a bold, vibrant, people‑powered start‑up on a mission to tackle loneliness through joy, connection and community. We’re building something warm, human and full of heart — and we need a Secretary / Governance Lead who can help us stay organised, compliant and confident as we grow.

If you love clarity, structure, tidy records and being the person who quietly keeps everything running smoothly… you’ll fit right in.

This is your chance to join a passionate, positive, community‑driven Board and help shape a charity that will genuinely change lives.

Why this role matters

Good governance isn’t boring — it’s the backbone of trust, safety and impact. As our Secretary / Governance Lead, you’ll make sure SUNSHINE is built on solid foundations so our volunteers can shine, our programmes can grow, and our community can thrive.

You’ll help us stay aligned with our Constitution, meet our legal responsibilities, and operate with transparency and integrity — all while being part of a warm, joyful, human‑centred team.

Your key responsibilities

  • Minute-taking with meaning — capturing decisions, actions and ideas clearly and accurately.

  • Regulatory filings — ensuring we meet deadlines and stay compliant with UK charity standards.

  • Constitution guardian — helping us follow our governing document and stay true to our mission.

  • Board support — keeping meetings organised, records tidy and communication smooth.

  • Governance champion — promoting good practice, accountability and clarity across the charity.

Who you are

You’re someone who brings:

  • A love of organisation, accuracy and structure

  • A positive, can‑do attitude

  • Reliability and integrity

  • Warmth, kindness and a human touch

  • Passion for community, connection and making a difference

  • Experience in admin, governance or trustee work (helpful but not essential)

Most importantly, you care about people — and you want to help build a charity that puts humans at the centre of everything.

What you’ll be part of

SUNSHINE is not just a charity — it’s a movement. A community. A team of passionate volunteers building something joyful from the ground up.

You’ll join a Board that is supportive, energetic, ambitious and deeply committed to creating a London where no one feels forgotten. You’ll be welcomed, valued, listened to and encouraged to bring your ideas, your voice and your spark.

Ready to help us shine?

If you want to use your organisational superpowers to support a warm, uplifting, human‑driven charity — we’d love to meet you.

  • Step into a role that matters.
  • Join a community that cares.
  • Help us build SUNSHINE.

Let’s make London brighter together.
