Job description

Help new volunteers feel confident, supported and ready to make a difference.

If you enjoy helping people settle in, explaining things clearly, and creating a welcoming atmosphere, this role is a lovely fit.

About the Role

As our Training & Welcome Volunteer, you’ll play a key part in helping new volunteers feel informed, included and ready to get started. You’ll help with simple induction tasks, share basic information about SUNSHINE, and make sure everyone feels supported during their first steps with us.

This is a friendly, people‑focused role — no teaching or training experience needed.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Welcoming new volunteers and helping them feel at ease.

  • Guiding them through our simple induction process.

  • Sharing information about SUNSHINE’s mission and activities.

  • Helping them understand their role and where to find support.

  • Checking in during their first few weeks.

  • Feeding back any questions or ideas to the team.

You won’t be responsible for formal training, safeguarding decisions, or complex HR tasks.

What You Don’t Need

  • Teaching or training qualifications.

  • Charity experience.

  • A big time commitment.

  • Any specialist knowledge.

We welcome anyone who is friendly, patient and enjoys helping others.

Time Commitment

1–3 hours per week, flexible around your schedule. Remote or hybrid — whatever works best for you.

What You’ll Gain

  • Experience in volunteer support and onboarding.

  • Communication and people‑skills.

  • Confidence working in a charity environment.

  • Training and ongoing support.

  • A friendly team and a meaningful cause.

  • The chance to help reduce loneliness by supporting those who volunteer with us.

Ideal For

  • People who enjoy welcoming and supporting others.

  • Students, career‑changers, retirees.

  • Anyone wanting experience in training, HR, or volunteer management.

  • Someone who loves helping people feel included.

How to Apply

If you’d like to help new volunteers feel confident and supported as they join SUNSHINE, we’d love to hear from you.
