About SUNSHINE Charity

SUNSHINE Charity is a new volunteer-powered community organisation working to reduce loneliness and social isolation by creating welcoming spaces where people can connect, build friendships, and feel part of something bigger.

We believe that no one should feel invisible in their own community.

As we prepare to launch our first programmes across London, we are looking for a passionate and organised Volunteer Coordinator to help us build and support the incredible volunteer team that will make our mission possible.

This is a unique opportunity to join SUNSHINE at the very beginning and play a key role in shaping the future of the organisation.

The Opportunity

Volunteers are the heart of SUNSHINE.

As our Volunteer Coordinator, you will help recruit, support, motivate, and retain the people who will deliver meaningful community impact across London.

You won’t simply be coordinating volunteers.

You’ll be helping build a community of people who are committed to making a difference in the lives of others.

Your work will directly contribute to creating spaces where people feel welcomed, connected, and valued.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Recruiting new volunteers through social media, community outreach, recruitment websites and networking
• Welcoming and onboarding new volunteers
• Helping volunteers find roles that suit their interests and skills
• Supporting volunteer engagement and wellbeing
• Maintaining volunteer records and communications
• Coordinating volunteer rotas and availability
• Helping develop volunteer policies and procedures
• Working closely with trustees and programme leads
• Creating a positive and inclusive volunteer culture
• Helping SUNSHINE grow its volunteer team as we expand

What We’re Looking For

You don’t need previous charity experience.

We are looking for someone who:

• Is passionate about helping people and strengthening communities
• Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Enjoys building relationships and supporting others
• Is organised and reliable
• Can motivate and inspire people
• Is comfortable using email, online meetings, and basic digital tools
• Shares SUNSHINE’s commitment to inclusion, kindness, and community

Experience in volunteer management, HR, community engagement, customer service, people management, or administration would be beneficial but is not essential.
