VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR x2 — SUNSHINE Charity

Lead the heart. Build the culture. Grow the movement.

Help us build a volunteer family that lights up London

SUNSHINE Charity is a joyful, human‑driven, community‑powered start‑up tackling loneliness through connection, kindness and uplifting experiences. We’re growing fast — and now we need two Volunteer Coordinators who can help us build a volunteer programme that feels warm, welcoming, energising and full of team spirit.

If you love people, thrive in positive environments, and get excited about building something meaningful from the ground up, this is your moment.

Why this role matters

Volunteers are SUNSHINE. They’re the heartbeat of our mission, the faces of our community, and the reason we can bring joy to people who feel alone.

Your role is to create a volunteer experience that feels inspiring, supportive, organised and full of belonging. You’ll help shape a culture where volunteers feel valued, connected and proud to be part of the movement.

This is a chance to build a volunteer programme that follows UK good practice standards — clear expectations, flexible involvement, supportive onboarding, inclusive culture, and safe, positive volunteering.

Key tasks will include

  • Lead the set‑up and development of our volunteer programme Build the structure, pathways, roles and systems that will support volunteers as we grow.

  • Create a positive, team‑spirited culture Foster belonging, connection, appreciation and joy across the volunteer community.

  • Recruit volunteers with warmth and energy Use creative, human‑centred approaches to attract people who share our passion.

  • Onboard volunteers with care and clarity Make sure every volunteer feels welcomed, supported and confident from day one.

  • Champion volunteer engagement Keep volunteers connected, motivated and informed through regular communication and appreciation.

  • Promote good practice and safeguarding Ensure volunteers feel safe, respected and empowered in their roles.

This is a hybrid volunteer role with flexible hours and full support from our friendly, passionate Board.

Who you are

You'll need to bring:

  • A love of people, community and connection

  • A positive, uplifting, can‑do attitude

  • Strong organisation and communication skills

  • Creativity, warmth and human‑centred thinking

  • Passion for building culture and supporting volunteers

  • Experience in volunteer coordination, HR, community work or people management (helpful but not essential)

Most importantly, you care deeply about making London a kinder, more connected place.

What you’ll be part of

SUNSHINE is a charity built on joy, humanity and community spirit. You’ll join a team that is:

  • Passionate

  • Supportive

  • Ambitious

  • Heart‑led

  • Dedicated to making a real difference

You’ll help shape a volunteer family that feels like a real community — full of energy, kindness, connection and purpose.

Ready to help us shine?

If you want to build a volunteer programme that changes lives, creates community and spreads joy across London, we’d love to welcome you into the SUNSHINE family.

  • Step forward.
  • Bring your spark.
  • Help us build something beautiful.

Let’s make London brighter together.
