About Us
The Women & Families Resource Centre (WFRC) is a Wolverhampton-based charity supporting women and families facing challenging circumstances. Through our charity shop, Baby Bank, and community services, we provide essential support and resources to those in need.
Role Overview
We are looking for a reliable and hands-on IT Support (Onsite Volunteer) to ensure all technical equipment and POS (Point of Sale) systems are fully functional and ready for daily operations.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys practical problem-solving, basic IT setup, and being the go-to person for technical support in a busy charity environment.
Key Responsibilities POS System Setup & Maintenance
- Set up and configure POS systems for daily use
- Ensure systems are logged in and ready before opening
- Troubleshoot issues such as payment errors, crashes, or connectivity problems
Equipment Setup & Management
- Install and maintain computers, laptops, printers, and barcode scanners
- Ensure all devices are properly connected and working efficiently
Internet & Connectivity Support
- Maintain stable internet connection for POS and staff usage
- Troubleshoot WiFi and network issues
Daily Equipment Checks
- Check POS systems, printers, and scanners before operations begin
- Ensure printers are stocked (paper, labels, etc.)
- Report and resolve issues quickly
️ Onsite Technical Support
- Assist staff and volunteers with using systems and equipment
- Provide quick fixes for common technical issues
- Act as the first point of contact for IT-related support
Inventory & Asset Tracking
- Maintain records of all IT equipment and accessories
- Report damaged or missing items
Workstation Setup
- Set up new stations for staff or volunteers
- Install required tools and ensure systems are ready to use
Troubleshooting & Escalation
- Resolve basic technical issues (restart systems, check connections, etc.)
- Escalate complex problems to management when needed
What We’re Looking For
- Basic IT knowledge (computers, printers, internet setup)
- Problem-solving mindset and hands-on approach
- Ability to work independently and take initiative
- Good communication skills
- Reliable and detail-oriented
- Comfortable supporting others with basic tech use
- Commitment of minimum 12 hours per week onsite
