Relevant Person’s Representative (RPR) Support Volunteer - role is in Cheshire West

People in care homes should have a voice to communicate their needs wishes and wants. Some people need support with this, but don’t have friends and family available to assist them.  This means they’re entitled to have support from an RPR and volunteer, who are there to make sure they get the care they deserve.  Your role as an RPR Support Volunteer is to collaborate with the VoiceAbility RPR to make sure a person’s views are listened to when decisions are made about their care.

As an RPR Support Volunteer you might:

· Visit people in their care home, to make sure they’re getting the right care and support

· Talk with them about their feelings, thoughts and wishes

· Raise concerns

· Keep detailed notes and records

· Make a real difference to someone’s life

All volunteering will take place Monday to Friday between 09:00 and 17:00.  You will need to be over 18 years old and be living in the UK. Please note that there is no opportunity to volunteer at weekends or in the evening.

ABOUT US

AkiOke Music Club is a CIO run by a small group of like-minded individuals, passionate about empowering young people with disabilities through music.

The AkiOke vision is to provide a fun and inclusive social environment for attendees to explore music, build confidence, and connect with others by singing.

Our aim is to provide a regular music/vocal training session using a range of technology to enhance singing experiences that encourages participation and social interaction for vulnerable young adults.

JOB FUNCTION

The post-holder will co-lead on the setup and delivery of AkiOke, a grassroots music and karaoke club. This joyful and inclusive weekly music-based social group is for adults with mild learning difficulties. You will work closely with a young adult with lived experience, who initiated the project and serves as its creative lead.

This role also involves collaboration the Volunteer Coordinator and Trustees, ensuring that all operations are guided by the lived experiences of participants and supported by sustainable outreach and funding strategies.

You will develop strategic and campaign plans and assist marketing volunteers in delivering effective, inclusive campaigns.

The Engineering Council is the UK regulatory body for the engineering profession and its board provides governance oversight and direction to the organisation, alongside support and constructive challenge. While the majority of Trustees are nominated by Professional Engineering Institutions, EngineeringUK has the important responsibility of appointing 7 trustees to ensure representation from across the wider engineering community and other related sectors. The Engineering Council and EngineeringUK were created with complementary missions in 2001 and work closely alongside each other, sharing core funding from the registration fees of the members of Professional Engineering Institutions who are professionally registered engineers and technicians.

EngineeringUK

The Engineering and Technology Board, trading as EngineeringUK, is an independent, not-for-profit organisation which works to enable more young people from all backgrounds to be informed, inspired and progress into engineering and technology. We work with

hundreds of businesses, professional engineering institutions and providers of education and outreach, gaining and sharing insight through research and evaluation, leading a collective effort to improve the impact of activities for schools, and advocating to improve the related policy environment.

Responsibilities/Commitment

Board members are expected to attend four half-day meetings per year in London/online and to prepare for these meetings by reading papers circulated in advance.

Period Reality

Period Reality fight for gender equity through system-level change by educating about and advocating for living in sync with your cycle.

Period Reality aims to address period related issues and stories by sharing the real life stories from girls and women globally. Although half the population experiences a menstrual cycle, the stark contrast in the different realities of girls and women is very real and through storytelling we aim to educate and provide relatable content.

Through sharing stories from girls and women focused on their common humanities. Even though our realities might be very different depending on many factors (physical, geographical, socio-economical, mental etc.) we all share a lot of the same questions, worries, dreams, anxieties, ambitious etc. Making these stories relatable and accessible will educate and inspire and create a movement of girls and women being able to first and foremost understand their own cycle, in order to be kind to themselves.

Nutrition & Food Lead (Nutritionist)

Hillingdon Women’s Centre is seeking to recruit enthusiastic new Trustees to join our existing Board and actively contribute to the existing strength and growth of the charity!

About

Trustees typically attend monthly board meetings, with occasional activities between meetings. The estimated time commitment is around 2 hours per typical month. New trustees will be supported with induction and access to ongoing training, including safeguarding and governance. We particularly welcome applications from women with lived experience of the issues we work on, and from those connected to the communities we serve in Hillingdon and surrounding boroughs. As well as fulfilling the duties of a Trustee, the Treasurer maintains an overview of Easing Anxieties’ financial affairs. The Treasurer ensures that effective and appropriate financial measures, controls and procedures are put in place and reports to the Board at regular intervals about the financial health of the organisation.

Treasurer role

• Overseeing the presentation of budgets, internal management accounts and annual financial statements to the Board of Trustees. 

• Ensuring that proper accounting records are kept, and that appropriate accounting procedures and controls are in place. 

• Ensuring that robust and comprehensive financial policies are in place and being implemented, and supporting the development of policies covering financial reserves, and cost management. 

• Monitoring and advising on the financial viability of the charity. 

• Overseeing financial controls and adherence to systems, regularly liaising with Chief Executive. 

• Advising on the financial implications of the charity’s strategic plan, including overseeing the charity’s financial risk-management process 

• Ensuring investments and assets are maximised.

• Lead on the appointment of and liaison with external auditors. 

• Oversee the development and implementation of systems for appraising, mitigating and reporting corporate risk.

As a small charity, there will be times when the trustees will need to be actively involved beyond Board meetings. Terms of appointment

Terms of office

• Trustees are appointed for a 2 year term of office, renewal for 4 further terms to a maximum of 10 years.

• This is a voluntary position, but reasonable expenses will be reimbursed.

Time Commitment (Estimated at 7hours per week)

• Attending 4 Board meetings annually. Currently meetings are held remotely.

• Monthly scheduled meeting with the CEO with flexibility to respond swiftly to the occasional ad hoc issue.

Every Christmas, hundreds of older people in Birmingham spend the holidays alone. We receive donations at our head office on a large scale from local business which we then organise into gift hampers for our most vulnerable citizens. This quickly fills up the office space so we must ensure a quick turnaround.

The service manager will call you to invite you in either the same day or with 1-2 days notice to come along to our head office and get involved with packing hampers.

Tasks include:

· Assist in sorting gifts into types or genders

· Packing Christmas hampers or gift bags

· Adhering to an instructional list

· Hand-write Christmas cards or notes to include in hampers.

· Support Age UK staff with other similar tasks relating to packing and sorting of gifts

Additionally, we need some support with making telephone calls to citizens inviting them to a special lunch. We would be grateful for additional support with this where possible.

Read Easy groups are changing the lives of individual adults across the country by providing them with the support they need to learn to read, and in turn opening doors for them to all sorts of new opportunities in life. As the Team Leader you are responsible for the proper and effective direction of your local group. This role will appeal to someone with enthusiasm and energy who will enjoy managing a team of diverse volunteers. Ideally, the Team Leader will remain in this role for at least two years.

You will be provided with the Management Team Handbook, training/induction, policies, and guidance specifically needed for this role, including access to support from a Read Easy UK Regional Adviser, via your Team Leader. You will also be invited to Read Easy UK’s regional forums and annual conference which gives volunteers an opportunity for networking with those from other groups.

● Leading the Management Team in setting goals and planning activities so that it functions effectively in delivering reading coaching to as many local people as possible.

Outline of the Administrator/Secretary role

Being an excellent timekeeper and an organised individual, your administration skills will be vital to support the smooth running of the local Management Team. By recording actions agreed at meetings, and supporting the Team Leader, Management Team and Coordinator with administrative support, this role ensures that the group functions at its best and works in the most efficient and effective way to help adults learn to read in your community.

How we will support you

You will be provided with the Management Team Handbook, training/induction, policies and guidance specifically needed for this role, including access to support from a Read Easy UK Regional Adviser, via your Team Leader. You will also be invited to Read Easy UK’s regional forums and annual conference which give volunteers an opportunity for networking with those from other groups.

● Arranging Team meetings with the Team Leader and distributing agendas

● Recording actions agreed at the team meeting and distributing notes on required actions

● Submitting Coach and Reader Finisher questions responses to REUK

● When required, supporting the Coordinator with printing and copying

● Supporting with general administration for your group

● Attending regular Management Team meetings, typically every 6-8 weeks

National Clinical Lead (Nursing) – Volunteer Role

St John Ambulance Cymru is seeking a dedicated and experienced nursing professional to take on a strategic volunteer leadership role as our National Clinical Lead (Nursing). This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of clinical care across Wales and make a meaningful impact in communities through expert guidance, collaboration, and innovation.

About the Role

As the Clinical Lead for Nursing & Midwifery, you will:

• Provide national clinical leadership and support the implementation of clinical strategies.
• Develop methods to recruit, retain and support the work of nurses, midwives, health visitors, nursing associates, associate practitioners, and students within St John Ambulance Cymru - including integrating them into frontline practice.
• Lead on infection prevention and control, regulatory compliance, and clinical governance.

Support and Training

You’ll receive ongoing support from the Clinical Director and National Headquarters staff, along with access to statutory and mandatory training.

We are looking for a new governor with strong financial expertise, likely qualified as an accountant or with similar experience. You’ll be excited by delivering an excellent education for our students and keen to engage with our school’s development.

About You

We are looking for a new governor with professional experience accounting or financial management. The successful candidate will become part of a Governing Body comprising 18 members, all of whom are representatives of the school, and join the school’s Finance & Resources Committee. 

Time Commitment

Governors usually spend ~20 hours per term on core governing duties.

The Governing Body meets four times a year to undertake its regular duties, with occasional meetings for urgent or time critical decisions. Regular meetings currently take place on Wednesdays during term time, usually at 5/5.30pm. Governors also need to allow time to read papers and prepare for meetings.

The Girls’ School Governing Body has three sub-committees – Finance & Resources, Curriculum, and Health & Safety and Personnel. These meet at least termly.

We encourage governors to attend one governors' day per term when specific topics central to educational outcomes are highlighted for discussion with staff and students. Governors are also invited to attend public events such school play performances, music concerts and prize-giving ceremonies.

Skills and Background

Following a recent skills audit, we are particularly interested in individuals who have had experience in finance. We encourage applications from all members of society, regardless of background, gender, ethnicity, disability, or age.

Being a Foundation Governor

Governors come from a wide range of backgrounds and professions and include some appointed by the staff of the school, parents and the Tower Hamlets Local Authority.  A majority of the governors are appointed by the Central Foundation Schools of London. As an Educational Charity we support two schools in inner London, the Girls' School and also Central Foundation Boys' School in Islington. This appointment will be a joint appointment by the Foundation and the Girls' School governing body.

1. Ensure clarity of vision, ethos, and strategic direction of our school;
2. Hold the executive leaders to account for the educational performance of our school and its pupils, and the effective and efficient performance management of staff; and
3. Oversee the financial performance of our school and make sure its money is well spent.

The successful candidates will join the governing body in Spring 2026 and will receive a full induction which is supported by ongoing training and development for all governors.

We are looking for a new governor excited by and committed to the delivery of an excellent education for our students. We encourage applications from all members of society, regardless of background, gender, ethnicity, disability, or age.

Applicants need to have a keen interest in the school and are prepared to play an active part in the governing body’s work to  improve opportunities and outcomes for students. We are particularly interested in individuals who have had skilled and professional experience in accounting or finance. 

More widely, we are keen that new governors add a breadth of skills, perspectives, and experience to enhance our work. We want people who are good verbal communicators, will ask insightful questions, are able to build strong relationships and have good analytical skills. It would be beneficial to also have local knowledge. Most important, you would have a keen interest in the school and be prepared to play an active part in the governing body’s work to help improve outcomes for our students.

Interviews will take place in December and January with the Chair of Governors, Hilary Evenett. An appointment confirmation meeting will take place with the Chair of the Foundation Board of Trustees.

There will be the opportunity to visit the school as part of the interview process.

Volunteer at Walk for Home, Shelter’s flagship event!

Would you like to have a great evening out, while supporting Shelter’s fundraisers?

Walk for Home is Shelter’s winter walking event in London. 3,000 people will be taking to the street to raise money for families facing homelessness this winter. We’re looking for enthusiastic, passionate volunteers with a can-do attitude to help support the team on the day. 

Date: Tuesday 02 December 2025

Time: 15:30-22:30

Location: Our start line is 26 Leake Street, London, SE17 7RY. But our biggest volunteering opportunity will be to marshal along the 5km and 10km route around some of the City of London’s most famous sights and cheering walkers along the way.

Roles include:

• Check Point Team – Marshalling the route and being a cheer squad for walkers as they come past.
• Finish line team - ultimate cheer squad ready to welcome and thank walkers as they return

Roles will be allocated on the day but we will do our best to keep groups together. If you have any medical concerns or specific accessibility requests which need to be taken into account on role allocation, please let us know.

It’s such a fun night, an opportunity to meet new people and spend time with others. Snacks and a Walk for Home bobble hat will be provided on the day.

To consider: This will be an evening in December and outside, you will need to be comfortable standing for long periods of time in the cold. Please make sure you bring suitable layers.

This role fights the housing emergency by creating an inspirational buzz and providing much needed support to everyone walking the route, helping them in their mission to raise money for our Fight for Home.

You will contribute to ending homelessness by

• Based from our Christmas storage and packing space, our Driver Volunteers are integral to the delivery of Crisis at Christmas. 
• You will be driving our deliveries to our guests who may be staying in various forms of accommodation including Hostels, B+B's and other forms of Temporary Accommodation. 
• You will be using your own car.
• You will volunteer alongside a driver's mate.

PLEASE NOTE: This role is only needed for the Christmas period

Each person who'd like to volunteer needs to sign up individually, and volunteers are not permitted to bring friends, family members, or children along with them on shifts.
