Ucan Enfield Ambassador

What You’ll Do

As a UCAN Enfield Ambassador, you’ll play a key role in helping people find out about and engage with the UCAN project, which promotes healthy lifestyle changes through free exercise, nutrition and wellbeing sessions. You’ll help support sessions on the day and raise awareness in the community.

You will:

• Attend UCAN exercise or nutrition sessions to take the register and gather feedback from attendees
• Represent UCAN at community events or groups by helping to set up an information stall
• Talk to members of the public about UCAN and help them sign up
• Input register or sign-up data into the CRM system (training provided)

Skills You’ll Use or Develop

• Friendly, confident communication with the public
• Ability to use simple digital forms
• Reliable, organised and a good team player

Time Commitment

Flexible – ideally 2–4 hours per week

Action Tutoring is a national education charity that offers free maths and English tutoring to pupils facing disadvantage. 

By volunteering as a tutor at a local school or online, you'll be supporting children to build their confidence and help ensure they leave school with the grades needed to build a bright future.

What will I be doing?

• Tutoring 1-3 pupils in Year 5 or 6, or Year 7, 10 or 11.

• Commit to one hour a week, for up to 20 weeks. You choose the day and time to sign up to.

• Use our tutor workbooks to guide your pupils through activities that will boost their confidence and grades.

About the role

Location: Bristol

Hours: 2 hours per week

As a Volunteer Group Facilitator, you will play an important role in supporting group sessions and workshops. You will help create a welcoming, inclusive, and comfortable environment where everyone feels valued and able to participate.

Your responsibilities may include engaging with group members through conversation, welcoming participants as they arrive, and supporting the smooth running of sessions by helping with set-up and clear-up tasks. You may also assist with taking attendance at the start of each session.

Full training and regular supervision will be provided, so you’ll feel confident and supported in your role.

This role requires a Basic DBS check, which will be arranged and paid for by Rethink Mental Illness.

As a Volunteer Group Facilitator you will

• Welcome participants and help create a warm, inclusive, and supportive environment
• Support the development of a safe space where individuals feel comfortable sharing as much or as little as they wish
• Assist with setting up before sessions (e.g. arranging chairs, preparing materials, and taking attendance)
• Help tidy and reset the space after sessions
• Collaborate with other volunteers and staff to support the smooth delivery of group activities

About the service

The Bristol Community Support Services team is committed to delivering high-quality, person-centred support. The service focuses on helping individuals achieve their goals, improve their wellbeing, and maintain independence while living with mental illness.

The team includes a Service Manager, Recovery Coaches, a Digital Officer, a Group Development Coordinator, and a Peer and Volunteer Coordinator, all working together to provide a supportive and effective service.

You will be helping your local community understand what a Read Easy group does; how local people can get the reading support they need; and how volunteers can help. There are two distinct forms of publicity, one requiring raising awareness by giving talks, putting up posters and talking to people generally about Read Easy. The second is using social media effectively to raise awareness and publicise your group. This role is commonly supported by other members of 
the team, with specific skills to offer.

You will be provided with the Management Team Handbook, policies, training/induction and guidance specifically needed for this role, including access to support from a Read Easy UK Regional Adviser, via your Team Leader. You will also be invited to Read Easy UK’s regional and national forums which gives volunteers an opportunity for networking with those from other

Together Drug and Alcohol Service is the commissioned community drug and alcohol provision for Devon. It provides a range of support, interventions and treatments for those wanting to make positive changes to their drug and/or alcohol use, as well raising awareness and supporting family members.

We have a dedicated Criminal Justice Team that helps people who have become involved in the criminal justice system and who wish to make changes to their drug and/or alcohol use. This involves writing reports to the Court in line with community sentencing, liaising with Probation in order to facilitate Court Orders relating to drug and/or alcohol use and supporting those released from prison as they transition back to community living.

Role overview:

We are looking for a volunteer to meet people on the day they are released from prison, who can support these individuals to attend initial appointments across organisations in the community.

This role would be well suited to someone looking to gain experience working within the criminal justice system and who is willing to develop understanding of the challenges the early days of living back in the community can bring.
Individuals with lived experience are also strongly encouraged.

Volunteers would need to be available from 8am on the day(s) they volunteer, to meet clients in the reception lounge of HMP Exeter // HMP Channing’s Wood.

Tasks may include:

• • Supporting people to attend appointments with probation, allocated police officers or Together Drug and Alcohol Services.
  • Providing a supportive, non-judgemental and listening ear.
  • Co-facilitating group support sessions, including SMART Recovery meetings (training provided)
  • Signposting to other activities / support the service user to work alongside other organisations e.g. GP or additional mental health support services.

All volunteers are asked to adhere to organisational policies including safeguarding, information governance and health and safety.

MumsAid’s Young Mums service supports expectant and new mothers aged up to the age of 25, offering emotional support, peer connection, advocacy, within a group setting. The group offers a safe, welcoming environment where young mums can share, connect, and learn.

To assist in the organisation and the smooth running of Young MumsAid group sessions. Offering friendly emotional support and guidance to help new mums connect and thrive in their community, ensuring group participants feel safe and welcomed. 

What will you be doing? 

• Assist the group facilitator with planning, organising, and facilitating regular support group meetings for new mothers, ensuring that the meeting space is clean, safe and warm. 

• Greet attendees as they arrive; help new members settle in, show them around, introduce them to others. 

• Be attentive to group dynamics; encourage inclusion and gently facilitate interaction when helpful (for example, helping quieter mums to join in). 

• Provide emotional support and guidance to mothers within the group, ensuring a safe and inclusive atmosphere. 

• Provide tailored one-to-one support to mothers within the group who need additional help, referring to other specialists when necessary. 

• Assist with administrative tasks related to the group, including attendance records, scheduling, and communication with participants. 

• Implement and deliver engaging and relevant content for group sessions including activities, and discussion topics as advised by the facilitator. 

• Participate in debrief or feedback with the facilitator after the group, sharing any insights or concerns. 

• Observe and flag any safeguarding, mental health, or welfare concerns in line with MumsAid Safeguarding and child protection policies (in debrief with facilitator) immediately following the session. 

• With guidance from the facilitator carry out monitoring requirements. 

• Support in liaising with other professionals to increase awareness about the group and to assist in recruitment of suitable group members.

• Respond to any feedback of the group, adapting sessions as necessary as directed by the group facilitator. 

• Distribute educational materials and resources relevant to new motherhood as necessary. 

• Promote and support equality, diversity and inclusion, ensuring that the views and voices of MumsAid’s service users are considered in all aspects of group initiatives, including in the discussions of need and impact. 

• Maintain confidentiality and privacy of group members. 

• Attend induction and role-specific training and take part in supervision or feedback sessions.

Volunteer Befriender – Age UK East Sussex

Would you like to make a real difference to an older person in your community? Join our team as a Volunteer Befriender and help make East Sussex a great place to grow older.

Our Befriending Service is a 26-week programme where you’re matched with one or more older people for weekly support, either by telephone or face-to-face, depending on what works best. We ask for a minimum commitment of 1 hour per week.

Many older people feel isolated or disconnected, so your role may also include accompanying them to local groups or activities to help them rebuild confidence and reconnect with their community. Face-to-face visits can be arranged where appropriate to support community integration. Befriending can also involve accompanying someone to simple social activities, such as a café or a local event.

What you’ll do:

• Provide a weekly chat for up to 26 weeks (minimum 1 hour per week)

• Build supportive relationships with one or more older people

The centres deliver a range of support groups and activities for children and their families to help them be healthy, grow and develop. To support qualified staff in creating a welcoming environment for families attending breastfeeding and infant feeding sessions.

Key Responsibilities:

· Welcome parents and carers to infant feeding sessions, making them feel at ease.

· Offer encouragement, reassurance, and a listening ear to families, providing peer support under staff guidance.

· Support with preparing and tidying away resources used during sessions.

· Model sensitivity, respect, and inclusivity when discussing feeding choices.

· Promote the benefits of breastfeeding and infant feeding best practices (Hertfordshire Family Centres are Baby Friendly Initiative (BFI) accredited through UNICEF)
