Fundraising Lead

Hybrid - Office based Birmingham

£33,509 per annum

Fixed Term – 1 year Maternity Leave Cover

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Help us raise the income that supports Better Mental Health for All.

Birmingham Mind is the largest independent mental health charity in Birmingham. Since 1962, we have supported people across the city through high quality, person-centred mental health services. Our vision is Better Mental Health for All, and our values shape how we work: we celebrate people, we are better together, we inspire hope, we champion change and we bridge the gap.

We are looking for a passionate, creative and values-led Fundraising Lead to develop and deliver engaging fundraising activity, grow voluntary income and build lasting relationships with supporters and partners. This is an exciting role for someone who can combine strong fundraising and relationship management experience with a genuine commitment to improving mental health support for people and communities.

About the role

As Fundraising Lead, you will play a central role in growing Birmingham Mind’s voluntary income. You will develop and deliver our Fundraising Strategy, create compelling campaigns and supporter materials, and build strong relationships with businesses, community groups, individuals, volunteers and Fundraising Ambassadors across Birmingham and the wider West Midlands.

You will line manage our Fundraising and Training Coordinator, ensuring effective administrative support and a positive, consistent experience for supporters and partners. You will also work closely with the Business Development Manager and colleagues across communications, finance, services and volunteering to plan campaigns and events, identify new opportunities, steward donors and track and report income and impact.

This is a varied and influential role for someone who enjoys turning ideas into engaging fundraising activity, building trusted relationships and inspiring people to support Birmingham Mind. The role includes representing the charity at community and networking events and requires flexibility to work outside normal hours when needed.

About you

You will bring at least two years’ experience in fundraising, with a track record of meeting income targets and successfully delivering events, campaigns or projects. You may have worked in a charity, community, health, social care, mental health or other social purpose setting, and you will understand how to build positive relationships that encourage long-term support.

We are particularly interested in hearing from people who have experience of partnership fundraising, community fundraising, corporate engagement, donor stewardship or income generation. You will be confident managing deadlines and budgets, developing persuasive communications, maintaining accurate fundraising records and working with a range of stakeholders to turn opportunities into successful activity.

Just as importantly, you will be motivated by Birmingham Mind’s purpose. You will be creative, positive and self-motivated, communicate clearly, act with integrity, support others to succeed and stay focused on the difference fundraising makes to people experiencing mental health difficulties.

Why join Birmingham Mind?

This is an opportunity to take on a role with real influence, variety and purpose. You will help secure the voluntary income and supporter relationships that enable Birmingham Mind to develop new services, improve the quality of support and respond creatively to the mental health needs of our communities.

You will join a committed and supportive organisation where staff and volunteers are at the heart of our success. We are proud of our diverse workforce and are committed to recruiting people who share our values and want to make a meaningful difference. You will also have access to training and development opportunities, including Mental Health First Aid training delivered by Birmingham Mind.

Staff benefits include an attractive defined contribution pension scheme, PayCare, which offers employees affordable cover for a range of healthcare treatments, an Employee Assistance Programme that includes free counselling, a cycle to work scheme, and a comprehensive training programme.

Birmingham Mind is extremely proud to have a diverse workforce that is reflective of the communities that we work with. We strongly encourage applications from individuals with lived experience of mental health challenges as their perspectives enrich our teams. We are also committed to changing the ethnic diversity of our management team and particularly encourage applicants from minority communities to apply for this role.

Candidates must have the right to work in the UK for a minimum of 12 months. We are not a registered sponsor and therefore are unable to offer visasponsorshipfor this position.

Our people are key to the success of the organisation, and we are recognised as both a Mindful Employer as well as achieving Gold standard success in Investors in People. We welcome applications from people who have experienced mental health difficulties.

Closing date for applications is Sunday 1st November 2026

Interviews will take place on Friday 13th November 2026
