This is an exciting opportunity to chair our newly formed Safeguarding Panel and provide strategic advice and guidance on embedding an excellent safeguarding culture in SeeAbility.

The independent safeguarding chair role will be to:

• Help prepare our Safeguarding Panel meeting agendas.
• Chair these meetings.
• Provide effective scrutiny of SeeAbility’s safeguarding performance.
• Champion Making Safeguarding Personal.
• Constructively challenge those responsible for maximising performance.
• Help shape SeeAbility’s safeguarding implementation plan.
• Monitor progress of the plan.

Your experience & personal characteristics 

You will have experience of leading and managing others in senior positions and of chairing complex meetings productively.

You will have up-to-date knowledge of safeguarding adults legislation and best practice and extensive experience or safeguarding in the public and/or voluntary sector.

You will be a strong advocate for creating a safer culture and encouraging change.

About us

World Jewish Relief has been successfully delivering our refugee employment programme, STEP, for over seven years. Research into this programme showed that women were dropping out more often than men, not moving through the programme as fast as men, and not getting the same level of job outcomes. As a result, STEP Forward was created to specifically address the barriers to integration faced by women.

The aim is for women refugees to make informed decisions about their lives and their continued pathways in the UK. In April 2023, a new phase of the programme was launched with a target to support 315 women until April 2026 in Coventry, Bradford, and Leeds.

Project Details

We are seeking a Monitoring and Evaluation consultant(s) to assess STEP Forward programme effectiveness, identify areas for improvement, and provide recommendations for enhancement. The consultant(s) will be responsible to produce three monitoring reports between 2024 and 2026.

Specific tasks:  

• Conduct a thorough desk review of all relevant project documents. 
• Design and implement a systematic approach for data collection, both quantitative and qualitative. 
• Engage key stakeholders, including partners and clients, through surveys, focus groups, and individual interviews, including site visits to Coventry, Bradford and Leeds. 
• Leverage various data collection tools to gather quantitative and qualitative data.
• Compile comprehensive reports that synthesise the consultancy's findings and recommendations. 
• Deliver presentations that effectively convey the consultancy's findings to a diverse audience.

• Provide support on a variety of health and social care issues, including appropriate emotional, employment and welfare benefits support and advocating with and on behalf of clients. 

• Work flexibly across the service responding to enquiries through a range of channels.

• Work closely with clinicians, specialist nurses and other professional colleagues to raise the profile of the service, increase depth of support and achieve improved outcomes for people with Parkinson’s.

What you'll bring: 

• Experience of managing and delivering individual case work, including advocating for clients and supporting people to navigate  the health and social care system 

• Experience and understanding of safeguarding and your role in keeping clients safe and  implementing organisational policies and procedure

• Ability to be calm and use emotional intelligence in challenging casework

• Demonstrable digital competence, with experience of effective use of a range of tools including online case management systems

• The ability to build effective working relationships with others including working within multi disciplinary teams internally and externally

Solace Women’s Aid provides a wide range of services to victim/survivors of domestic and sexual abuse in Bexley including an advocacy and support service and specialist services co-located in a number of services. Solace works in partnership with the police to ensure that victim/survivors of domestic abuse are able to access the necessary support. As part of this partnership Solace are recruiting for an IDVA to be co-located in Lewisham Police Station, covering crisis intervention, risk assessment, safety planning, assessment of needs and individual support planning. A key aspect of the role will be to advocate on behalf of service users to improve access to support in Bexley. This role will be based at Lewisham Police Station and within the Bexley Office.  

About the Role

A unique and exciting opportunity has arisen to work as a Police IDVA for Solace co-located in Lewisham Police station. As the IDVA you will provide immediate support for victim/survivors of abuse at all levels of intervention including carrying out risk and needs assessments, safety planning and providing short-term support and onward referral. In addition, you will act as the Police lead for Solace in Bexley, providing advice and guidance to Solace staff and the Police.

The Police IDVA will hold a case load of 15 cases.

You will be working as part of a multidisciplinary team and collaborating with external agencies in your work and being the direct link to MARAC for Solace within Bexley.

About You

Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP) is a leading UK charity dedicated to improving the health and dignity of Palestinians affected by conflict, occupation, and displacement. With a focus on the occupied Palestinian territory and Palestinian refugee camps in Lebanon, we provide vital health and medical care to those in need, particularly in crisis zones like Gaza. The ideal candidate will have responsibilities that include monitoring compliance with MAP’s financial and procurement policies, developing strong cash and treasury management policies, and managing financial accounting systems. You will also ensure timely and accurate preparation of annual statutory accounts, compliance with relevant accounting and legal requirements, and submission of necessary returns to regulatory bodies. 

Duties and key responsibilities 

Leadership, Collaboration & Line Management 

• Support the Director of Operations through preparation for and reporting to governance meetings. 

• Participate actively as a member of the Leadership Team. 

• Provide leadership, direction, training, and motivation as appropriate to the UK Finance Manager, and the overseas Finance Managers in conjunction with overseas Directors. 

Finance Policy & Process Management 

• Be responsible for monitoring compliance with MAP’s financial and procurement policies and review and update these policies on a regular basis. 

• Develop and implement strong cash and treasury management policies and procedures. 

• Manage and develop all financial accounting systems in consultation with the Head of Reporting to ensure they are fit for purpose. 

• Help to ensure value for money and the effective use of funds across the organisation. 

Compliance & Regulatory Reporting 

• Manage the ongoing relationships with the external auditors. 

• Ensure the timely and accurate preparation of the annual statutory accounts for the annual audit and implement recommendations from the auditors and/or Board. 

• Monitor institutional income and related contracts and ensure that all restricted income, including Zakat, is properly accounted for.

Cashflow & Bank Account Management 

• Manage the ongoing relationships with MAP’s banks in the UK. 

• Maintain UK bank accounts and ensure financial governance is in place for overseas bank accounts.

• Ensure bank mandates and online banking operations are reviewed and updated on time. 

• Monitor and manage the organisation's cash flow to ensure there are sufficient currency funds to meet operational needs. 

• Review fund and payment  requests from overseas offices and that planned activities are within budget. 

• Release all payments from UK bank accounts, including UK payroll. 

Financial Controls 

• Implement appropriate internal controls, policies, and procedures to protect against fraud and misappropriation. 

• Oversee and manage all payroll budgets and forecasts. 

• Oversee the payroll functions, ensuring adequate internal controls and approvals are in place and adhered to, and all statutory requirements are met. 

• Ensure regular reconciliations are made between the accounting system and the CRM. 

• Oversee legacy administration liaising with the Legacy Advisor. 

Risk Management 

• Risk management – manage strategic and operational financial risks working with the Head of Internal Audit & Compliance.

• Maintain insurance policies across all MAP offices to ensure appropriate and adequate risk mitigation and meet statutory requirements. 

Person Specification 

Experience 

• Extensive experience in a finance leadership role within a complex charitable organisation, working internationally. 

• Experience of UK charity finance practice and governance - UK Charities SORP FRS 102. 

• Excellent technical knowledge and skills in accountancy principles, governance, and standards, including preparation of statutory accounts. 

• Successful track record of managing financial systems, and cashflow. 

• Experience of working in a multi-currency organisation. 

• Ability to contribute to the management of in-country finance colleagues, while not taking direct line-management responsibility for them. 

Skills and abilities

It's a particularly exciting time to be joining Scope. We’ve just launched an ambitious new strategy, and we’ll be delivering a large-scale general election campaign, as well as a brand refresh. We want to make sure that 2024/2025 is a real turning point for disabled people – one in which our vision for an Equal Future starts to become a reality. You’ll be involved in shaping some of the key campaigning activity to make that happen.

Permanent, 35 hours per week

Location: Here East Press Centre, 14 East Bay Lane, London, E15 2GW with working from home some or most of the time (hybrid).

The role 

As Lead Policy Advisor (Extra Costs of Disability) you’ll oversee our work to reduce the Disability Price Tag - a core goal within our new strategy. You’ll help us articulate exactly why life costs more for disabled people, and define the policy solutions we need to see.

We’re looking for someone who can use their detailed knowledge of policy influencing to come up with creative and effective ways to ensure that the next Government prioritises these issues. Throughout it all you’ll ensure disabled people’s experiences are included and their voices amplified.

About you

We are looking for someone experienced in securing policy change.

You will

• Have good understanding of how Whitehall works, and you’ll know how to create change.
• Ideally have experience of working in a large organisation, and you will understand the need for a collaborative approach that works for different audiences. 
• Be passionate about disability equality and understand the challenges disabled people face. Experience of working with people from marginalised backgrounds would be another advantage.

We are looking to recruit an Immigration Service Manager to grow and develop our holistic advice offer for families and young people. This is an exciting role in our Immigration team that will lead a team of solicitors and immigration advisors to offer high quality representation. You will continue to build partnerships across the advice sector and you will play a significant part in maintaining and developing our network to ensure we reach clients who need us the most. You will be a manager of the service first and foremost whilst maintaining a smaller caseload of clients.

The centre is delighted to be recognised as a Centre of Excellence alongside maintaining our accreditations with the Office for Immigration Services Commissioner and the Specialist Quality Mark and the post holder will ensure that we maintain these standards. We hold a legal aid contract and you will be responsible for managing this effectively.
