The Community and Events Manager reports into the Fundraising Development Manager and is responsible for implementing a comprehensive community and events engagement strategy, coordinating all community, third party and St Giles Hospice organised events and managing relationships with key stakeholders.
You will have a passion for social impact, strong organisational skills, and a proven track record in event management and leadership. You will also be adept at working with volunteers, possess excellent communication skills, and have the ability to foster a collaborative team environment.
You’ll be an accomplished fundraiser with proven experience in achieving income targets. Building community networks regionally will be essential to the success of this post.
With a team of three reporting into you, you will have demonstratable management experience in a fundraising environment with the ability to delegate strategic and operational responsibilities accordingly within your team to maximise the fundraising growth strategy and allow for a strong return on investment.

At the Guide Dogs our Access Assistants help our employees to live the life they choose by working as a driver and support worker to enable the person supported to carry out their duties efficiently and effectively. An Access Assistant does not fulfil the role for the individual but enables the person supported to carry out their role by supporting tasks to enable them to be successful in their role.
This role will include driving daily, working closely with the Habilitation Specialist. You will ideally be located within a 30-minute commute of NG9, use of vehicles will be discussed in more detail at interview. You’ll be working 22 hours per week and the majority of hours are likely to be spread across 3 days between 9am to 5pm. However, there may be some flexibility around how hours can be split, which we are happy to discuss at interview.
The Access Assistant will be confident when driving to new and unfamiliar locations and will possess strong written skills, including the ability to take accurate notes and keep clear records. They should be comfortable using basic IT tools such as email, word processing, and data entry programs. The role requires someone who can follow verbal instructions and work independently once tasks have been explained. Reliability and good time management are important, as is the physical ability to lift and carry items when needed.
Previous experience working with individuals who have physical or sensory processing access needs would be beneficial, as would familiarity with accessibility software or adapting digital and printed content. Experience supporting professional or training events may also be useful.
The successful candidate will approach their work with a calm, friendly, and respectful manner, maintaining a high level of discretion and confidentiality. They should be adaptable, open to varied tasks, and comfortable working one-to-one or in unfamiliar environments. As we build a new, integrated approach to communications across the UK, this position offers an exceptional opportunity to shape how we tell our story. Salary: £28,000 to £32,000 per annum (dependent on experience)

We are Spinal Research, the United Kingdom's leading medical charity focused on the repair and restoration of the spinal cord. Every two hours someone in the UK becomes paralysed. Globally, it is estimated that 15.4 million people are living with paralysis. It can happen to anyone at any time, changing lives instantly.
We fund groundbreaking research that will cure paralysis, helping to ensure people living with spinal cord injuries will one day receive life-changing treatments.
About the role
We are seeking an individual giving officer to support the development and delivery of our individual giving programme. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in our fundraising team, helping to grow income and deepen engagement from our supporter base.
Key duties
- Assist in the planning and implementation of individual giving campaigns that deliver sustainable income growth and long-term donor engagement
- Manage supporter engagement and acquisition across multiple channels including social media, email, SMS, direct mail, and online campaigns
- Work closely with the fundraising, research, and communications teams to ensure successful delivery of individual giving activities
- Oversee data selection for campaigns to optimise return on investment and support testing; ensure data is managed securely and in line with GDPR
- Support reporting and forecasting of financial and non-financial performance across the individual giving programme
- Contribute to the development and launch of a mid-value donor fundraising programme
- Support donor journeys that build loyalty and increase lifetime value through a range of fundraising products
Skills and experience required
- Proven experience managing projects across direct marketing channels, including both digital and print
- Strong copywriting and creative writing skills
- Experience developing fundraising and marketing content based on audience insights
- Confident working with external agencies across creative, print, digital, and media
- Experience supporting the planning and budgeting of individual giving activity
- Familiarity with legacy marketing is desirable but not essential
