Role: Habitats and Fisheries Campaign Officer

Contract: Permanent, Full Time

Location: Hybrid working. Cornwall or London office three days per week, home working two days per week.

Job Purpose

Oceana is looking for a talented and motivated campaign officer to join our team at a critical and exciting moment for our campaigns.

The role will support our Campaign Manager to deliver measurable progress to ensure the UK’s marine protected areas are fully protected from heavy industry such as industrial bottom trawling and dredging.  You will also be focused on delivering campaign actions aimed at ending overfishing, once and for all. You will help Oceana embed its role as a leading organisation in the marine NGO space in the UK, and drive forward bold campaign actions that inspire meaningful and long-lasting change. 

Eligible candidates should have some experience in campaigning, but we’re equally looking for passion, motivation and a drive to protect the ocean. You should be a self-starter, with a strong ability to work independently and as part of a small team.

The position will be hybrid, based three days per week (Tues-Thurs) in Oceana’s UK offices in Newquay, Cornwall or Paddington, London. Responsibilities 

• Support the delivery of Oceana’s campaigns on protecting marine habitats and ending overfishing, working with the campaign manager and other colleagues.
• Co-ordinate specific campaign actions within our Habitats and Overfishing campaigns, and draft campaign letters, assets and briefings as directed by the Campaign Manager.
• Commission and coordinate consultants to produce creative campaigning outputs, working closely with the rest of the team. 
• Support the development and delivery of engaging digital campaign actions, contributing to concept development and creating campaign actions through Engaging Networks and other digital platforms.
• Support the effective convening of diverse stakeholders, coordinating logistics, undertaking administrative tasks, and organising online and in-person meetings and events.
• Support public affairs engagement activities, including liaising with parliamentary offices, drafting correspondence and parliamentary questions, and attending stakeholder meetings.
• Monitor parliamentary activity across campaign areas and maintain accurate, up-to-date records within the parliamentary engagement database.
• Maintain a working knowledge of the political climate, and latest science and policy developments, around fisheries and marine habitat protection.
• Gather and catalogue evidence and insights to support lobbying and campaign actions, and public mobilisation.
• Work closely with the UK Communications team at Oceana to ensure that all campaign communications are in line with Oceana’s brand, campaign goals, science, and evidence.
• Actively participate in key policy and campaign events to defend and advance Oceana campaign goals.
• Build and maintain positive relationships with external stakeholders, helping to advance Oceana's campaign objectives with audiences ranging from supporters and community groups to policymakers.
• Represent Oceana externally in relevant networks, with partners and in the media as needed.
• Regularly monitor campaign progress in line with agreed KPIs and contribute to wider organisational monitoring and evaluation processes as required.

Candidate Requirements

   Education and work experience:

• At least two years of professional experience in campaigning or a related field.
• Experience supporting successful public campaigns that directly challenge policy makers. 
• Familiarity with marine and climate issues, regulations and policies in the UK, as well as with key institutions and decision-making processes. 
• Experience working with or coordinating NGO networks/coalitions on a campaign issue. 
• Degree-level qualification in any subject, or equivalent experience, with a demonstrated interest in campaigning, public affairs, communications, advocacy, or environmental issues (desirable but not essential).

   Skills and knowledge

• Strong written communication skills, including drafting briefings, correspondence and campaign materials.
• Research and analytical skills, including the ability to synthesise complex information and identify key insights.
• Understanding of UK parliamentary and political processes.

Who We Are

Animal Equality is an international animal protection organisation working with society, governments and companies to end cruelty to farmed animals. Animal Equality has offices in the United Kingdom, the United States, Germany, Italy, Spain, Mexico, Brazil and India.

Animal Equality releases investigative materials from inside factory farms and slaughterhouses, exposing the conditions that farmed animals face around the world. About the Role

We are seeking a dynamic, disciplined, and highly motivated Campaigns Officer to play a central role in growing our activist movement and delivering bold, high-impact campaigns across the UK and internationally.

This role is fundamentally about building people power. You will be responsible for significantly expanding our activist base – both online and in person – mobilising supporters into sustained action and organising impactful demonstrations that influence companies, governments, and public opinion.

The Campaigns Officer will regularly travel across the UK and internationally to organise and lead peaceful demonstrations, ensuring Animal Equality remains a visible, strategic, and compelling presence at key decision-making moments. Role overview

To support and deliver the internal and external communications and campaigns with the goal of enhancing the SoA’s profile, engage stakeholders, and promote key initiatives. The Oil and Gas Campaign Manager will manage and deliver our campaign to end new oil and gas drilling in UK waters, and drive forward our Ocean Alliance Against Offshore Drilling, a coalition of over 70 organisations united behind this goal. 

Reporting to the Head of Campaigns, this role will be responsible for the design and practical delivery of innovative, engaging, and clear campaign plans to meet Oceana’s goals to deliver an end to new oil and gas drilling in UK waters. 

Eligible candidates should have proven experience in managing and delivering complex public campaigns to drive national policy change. They must be passionate, and able to develop and implement creative and bold campaign activities, alongside our small but experienced team. 

The position will be hybrid, based three days per week (Tues-Thurs) in Oceana’s UK offices in Newquay, Cornwall or Paddington, London. Regular national, and occasional international, travel will be required to meet team members and stakeholders in geographically diverse locations, including: Washington, DC.

Responsibilities 

• Develop, manage and deliver Oceana UK’s Oil and Gas campaigns, taking responsibility for their quality, timeliness and success. 

• Contribute and advise on campaign strategies through annual planning and budgeting process, and through on-going detailed project planning. 

• Design and manage delivery of all of Oceana UK’s Oil and Gas campaign activities, including (but not limited to) campaign actions and launches, public mobilisations, digital actions, NGO partnerships and allies, coalitions and potential legal challenges.

About Transform Justice

Transform Justice is a national charity working for a fair, open and compassionate justice system. We believe that evidence about what works to reduce crime and prevent reoffending should be at the heart of policy decisions and embedded into practice.

The role

We are seeking a dynamic senior campaigns and communications officer to drive our public impact. You will lead communications for our high-profile FairChecks campaign for criminal records reform, coordinate our popular podcast, and elevate the digital presence of Transform Justice. This is a multi-faceted role combining grassroots movement-building, digital marketing, and creative content production.

The role is home-based and you will use your own equipment, so you will need to be able to work on your own with little day-to-day supervision. There is the option to work at an office in Old Street, London up to two days a week with other Transform Justice team members. Myasthenia gravis, ocular myasthenia and Lambert-Eaton myasthenic syndrome are autoimmune conditions whereas congenital myasthenic syndrome is caused by an inherited genetic fault. It is thought that there are approximately 20,000 people currently living with myasthenia in the UK.

ROLE DESCRIPTION

As Marketing Officer, you will report to our External Relations Manager, playing a central role in driving Get Further’s visibility and growth through maintaining our digital platforms and driving campaigns focused on forming and retaining partnerships.

You will help Get Further to reach more students by designing and delivering creative multi-channel B2B marketing campaigns that promote our tuition programmes, CPD and curriculum resources to FE colleges, training providers and councils.

You will also be responsible for the day-to-day delivery and maintenance of our digital channels, creating compelling written, graphic, photographic and video content, managing our website and email marketing, and using analytics to refine and strengthen performance.

About the Role
As a member of the SLT, you will contribute to the overall leadership of AIUK and play a central role in shaping organisational strategy and culture.
You will lead a substantial and highly talented directorate, bringing together expertise across:

• Campaigns and political relations
• Communications and public engagement
• Media, PR and artist relations
• Policy and research
• Nations and regions

You will create greater alignment across these functions, ensuring they operate as a coherent whole in pursuit of AIUK's strategic priorities.
You will also represent AIUK externally, building relationships across the Amnesty movement, civil society, media, politics and public life, and helping to position AIUK as a leading voice in shaping the future of human rights in the UK.

Who We Are Looking For
We are seeking an experienced and values-driven leader with the credibility, judgement and vision to operate at executive level.
You may currently be:

• A Director of Campaigns, Communications, Public Engagement or Advocacy.
• An Executive Director leading large-scale influencing or movement building functions.
• A senior sector leader with responsibility for public mobilisation, communications, campaigning or political influence.

You will be adept at operating strategically, leading through complexity and building alignment across diverse stakeholders.
You will bring:

• Significant leadership experience within a complex organisation
• A track record of delivering ambitious campaigns, communications or public engagement strategies at scale
• Experience leading large multidisciplinary teams
• The ability to build organisational alignment around a clear strategic vision
• Strong political and external awareness
• A sophisticated understanding of how public narratives shape social and political change
