FARA Foundation was founded in 1991 by Jane Nicholson, driven by the sight of the appalling images of neglected and starving children in Romania’s state institutions, in the wake of the fall of Ceaușescu in Romania. In 1992, recognising that the need was great and funds were going to be required, the first FARA Charity Shop opened in August 1992.
FARA Charity Shops are the heart of our fundraising efforts, providing the majority of income to support our ongoing work with vulnerable children and families in Romania. Stylish and community-driven, FARA shops offer a distinctive reuse second-hand retail experience in 39 vibrant shops across 26 London communities.
The Role:
We have an exciting 12-month fixed-term opportunity for an experienced Volunteer Coordinator to join FARA Foundation at this pivotal time. This critical new role for the organisation will play a key role in the development and growth of volunteering across all areas of the organisation with special emphasis on the retail arm.
We are looking for someone who has previous experience working as a Volunteer Coordinator in a Charity Retail environment who is keen to use their experience and develop their skills and expertise further in this important role. This post will need to work closely with the Chief Operating Officer, Trading Director, Retail Area Managers and shop managers to ensure that they operate to a high standard and in an effective and efficient manner.
This role requires a clear and confident manner, excellent written and spoken communication skills and the successful applicant will need to demonstrate good skills in writing and digital literacy. This role is expected to be physically present in shops, with travel across London between shops expected in each working week.

The ideal candidate
Substantial experience in visual design, with a portfolio that includes both static and interactive work.
Strong proficiency in design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, and motion/video tools like After Effects or Premiere.
Experience designing for: web and mobile platforms, with a basic understanding of HTML/CSS and responsive design principles.
Knowledge of UX/UI principles and experience collaborating on interactive or data-driven products.
Comfort managing brand systems and working with design partners or vendors.

The Role
Key responsibilities will include:

The Volunteer Coordinator (Nag’s Head Farm) will lead the recruitment, administration and support of volunteers for Camp Jojo’s Cumbria camps. Working closely with the Operations Manager and supported by the experienced team at Ivy Farm, Essex, the role also includes providing administrative support and attending volunteer-related meetings. · Liaising effectively with local partner organisations, and other relevant agencies, to ensure effective referrals, care, risk management, and ease of transition and referral, for young people.
Qualifications
· Good ICT skills, with experience of using data recording and data collation systems.
· Experience of working with young people and their families, identified as vulnerable or having complex needs, preferably in a community setting.
· Experience of inter-agency working, preferably with Children's and Family Services/Youth Justice Services/Youth Services.
· Knowledge of issues around risk and vulnerability amongst young people.
· Desirable: Relevant qualification in a relevant discipline e.g., Youth and Community, Psychology, health/social care studies.

To provide management support and advice to Group Facilitators, Volunteers, Social Work Students to help them develop their role in providing support to service users.
What do I need to bring with me?
You'll need to be able to demonstrate the core skills this role requires as well as match our values and mission. You will bring a strong understanding of the needs and experiences of people with mental health conditions, including those who may be disengaged from services, and experience providing effective mental health care and support. You will have a commitment to co-production, ensuring service users are actively involved in shaping services that meet their cultural and individual needs, and experience using feedback mechanisms to drive continuous improvement. Strong leadership and organisational skills are essential, including experience managing services within budget and promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion in all aspects of practice.
You will have excellent knowledge of mental health, housing, community care, health and safety, and welfare benefits legislation, with the ability to recognise deteriorating mental health and respond appropriately. Confident representing the organisation externally, you will be able to deliver presentations, develop promotional materials, and build positive relationships with partners and stakeholders. Strong IT skills are also essential, with the ability to produce accurate reports and support staff to maintain high standards of client record-keeping and data quality.
