The Role 
 
As our Supporter Engagement Assistant, you will join our Fundraising Team to help us build strong and lasting relationships with our charity's supporters and donors.  

Reporting to the Supporter Engagement Officer, you will deliver excellent customer service over the telephone, in written (email and postal) communications and face to face and ensure that supporters' details are accurately recorded on the CRM database. You will be representing the charity, explaining its purpose, and demonstrating our charity values to donors/supporters, showing appropriate empathy to those who may have cancer or a family member/friend who does.  

This role provides a great opportunity to make a real difference to the people of Yorkshire and requires someone with a friendly manner, good team-working skills, great customer service and excellent organisational skills.  
 

Specifically, you will: 

• Ensure supporter communications are accurate, timely and appropriate to the recipient. This includes following the relevant pathways to process donations, record legacy pledges, update key information so that the communication is tailored and relevant to the individual supporter. 

• Update supporter records on our database to reflect changes in marketing permissions, personal details, the charity's relationship with the supporter (e.g. Volunteer/ Donor/ Brand Ambassador etc.) and any communications had between the supporter & the charity. 

• Use the CRM System to run supplied data queries to deliver campaigns (e.g. using Mail Merge) and to create and deliver supporter communications, this includes printing and posting letters and sending emails, making updates to supporter records and fulfilling requests for information. 

• Work alongside the Supporter Engagement Officer & Individual Giving Manager to improve the initial welcome for newly acquired regular donors and the onwards stewardship journey for all supporters. Conducting research and contributing ideas to improve the supporter journeys and implementing these processes independently. 

• Undertake other duties and take on a lead role in supporting projects relevant to the purpose of the role as requested by members of the CRM, Marketing, Fundraising or Research & Services teams. 

• Monitor inbound emails to the charity in the supporter care inbox, forwarding to the relevant colleague (if unable to provide a response) or responding and actioning. 

• Monitor incoming calls to the charity through the supporter engagement number, forwarding to the relevant colleague (if unable to provide a response) or responding and actioning. 

 
About You 

To be considered for this role, you will need: 

• To have a qualification in a relevant discipline and/or proven experience working in a similar role, such as customer service. 

• To have evidence of continued professional development relevant to the role purpose and level. 

• To have customer service experience in a similar or related role (e.g. telephony/ databases/ office). 

• To have high computer literacy with comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, especially Word, Excel and Outlook. 

• To have previous experience of working with databases (e.g. Access or Raiser's Edge).

• To be happy to work independently and ask for support where this is needed, but also like to both work with and support colleagues as part of a team working towards a common goal. 

• To have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with an ability to use active listening skills, and write professionally and appropriately for a range of diverse audiences. Has a good grasp of grammar, spelling and of the spoken word. 

• To have strong organisational skills and performs their work to an extremely high level of accuracy and professionalism, paying close attention to detail. 

• To be able to present data and information in a way that is helpful and actionable to others.

This is an exciting new role to develop a peer support group for people recently diagnosed with dementia and their family carers and to co produce a programme of activities so that they can continue to engage in stimulating activities in the community.

The maternity cover will continue to work closely with the senior team to finalise the engagement strategy and implement from 2025. Campbell Rd Young Peoples service provides support and housing for 55 young people in Tower Hamlets that are either leaving care of affected by youth homelessness. The Support Worker role will be to manage a caseload of approx 7-10 young people .You will be expected to deliver positive outcomes for all our young people and support them to reach independence, keep safe and maintain their tenancy's. Aside from support workers delivering support there is a strong element of housing management associated wit this role, for example managing rents, raising/monitoring repairs and health and safety.

Overall Purpose

• To provide support and care to the young people who are newly arrived in the country, providing the foundations for them to rebuild their lives with dignity, strengthen their resilience and inspire hope for their futures.
• To partner with social workers and representatives from other agencies, for the benefit of the young people.

This work is essential in enabling us to deliver our therapeutic support for all areas of a young person’s life.

Duties & Responsibilities

• To be a Support Worker for newly arrived young people who are in the care of Baca in all areas of the young person’s life, supporting them from first arrival through to their move to semi-independence.
• To welcome new arrivals into the accommodation and communicate basic information about the house, making them feel safe and able to rest; with compassion without discrimination of age, race, colour or behavioural issues.
• To enable young people to achieve the following outcomes increased physical wellbeing, increased emotional wellbeing, improved personal safety, increased social engagement and increased engagement with education, employment and training.
• To enable young people to live with positive values and good boundaries.
• To be a proactive role model for the young people, enabling them to learn day to day living skills and helping them integrate positively with the local community.
• Training young people in living skills such as washing, cleaning, cooking and safety, food shopping and budgeting; proactively and intentionally in line with the Baca independent living preparation plan.
• Helping young people settle into a routine which will include education and social activities.
• Work in close partnership with social workers and other professionals and volunteers to provide a holistic development package for each young person enabling them to become independent.
• Maintaining very good communication with relevant members of the Rebuild Team and relevant social workers through regular appropriate reporting.
• To work collaboratively with the rest of the Rebuild Team to ensure all young people are safeguarded and supported to rebuild their lives.
• Complete and update all admin work as part of the role such as month end reports and support plans on time and in a consistent manner.
• Playing an active role in developing knowledge and understanding in areas relevant to the role and especially in the areas of asylum and refugee law, trafficking, supporting separated children and the cultures of different nations relevant to Baca.

The successful applicant will be motivated and passionate about the work that Baca does and the young people in our care. They will be very approachable, enjoy working as part of a wider team but also able to manage their own time and workload. Someone who is supportive, responsible, reliable, personable and willing to set boundaries in line with Baca’s values.

This is a frontline role that will need the successful applicant to be working closely with young people in their houses and will need access to transport young people to different appointments, meetings and activities.

Horn Lane service, is for young children / adult between the ages of 16 and 21, we are Ofsted registered.
We a re a dynamic and caring team

We are based in Acton, West London, 2 minute walk from Acton Main Line, with the Elizabeth line and 10 minutes walk from Central Acton central line.
We are a 24/7 service, and operate a 4 week rolling program which includes early shifts 8-4, late shifts 2-10 and weekend work, no sleep ins.

Support Workers will provide support to customers to help them develop the life skills they require to meet the assessed needs of the customers of the service. They will work with customers to promote social inclusion and alongside other members of the team to promote independent living, encouraging customers to maximise their skills and choices.

 Under 5’s Development Worker

 This is an exciting opportunity to join a small, dedicated team based in Wakefield. 

This is a new post which has been developed following a research project commissioned by Prosper Wakefield District (was Wakefield and District Health and Community Support) in 2022 and carried out by Rocket Science, a national research organisation. The purpose was to identify where additional investment from Prosper could make the most impact in priority areas arising from their findings.

One key finding related to children, young people and families; this was followed up by a workshop where it was developed to focus on under 5’s in a specific area of the district. This role is funded for 2 years with a possible additional year, to take this forward and demonstrate what can be achieved.

Young Lives Consortium is a membership organisation supporting VCSE organisations and groups who work with children, young people and families across the Wakefield District. By working together, we achieve more, progress faster and deliver better services.  Our current services include consultancy, training, support, project management, information, guidance and best practice support, our vision is to ensure those working with Children, Young People and Families achieve their goals.

MAIN OBJECTIVES:

To establish an under 5’s network of VCSE organisations promoting capacity building, developing workforce pathways, using a child and family centred approach to respond to community need.

To work alongside an established VCSE Play organisation to support the development of a specific offer to children and families of under 5s within the Warwick neighbourhood, located in Knottingley in Wakefield District

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 1. Community Development of Activities for Children under 5.

Using the principles of the ‘First 1000’ days research to inform the project development:

· Prepare to measure and collect data, undertake research, gather key measures on which to measure improvement, evaluate and demonstrate success, identify appropriate methods and design evaluation process, identify target group and potential organisations to become involved.

· Identify and involve key stakeholders such as parents/carers, local under 5's provision, VCSE organisations, schools, health centres, and community leaders. Hold initial meetings to introduce the initiative and gather input.

· Conduct alongside VCSE organisations a comprehensive needs assessment and engagement activities to understand parents/carers' needs, challenges, and preferences for children under 5 in the community.

· Establish a steering group with representatives from all stakeholders to guide the project and develop an action plan.

2. Support for developing the Under 5’s offer

· To research and identify, appropriate existing local training, to support the project goals. 

· Develop an offer of training and workshops to the wider staff and volunteer workforce on approaches to early childhood development for VCSE staff, parents, carers, partners and community members resulting in strengthened community leadership with a strong emphasis on Safeguarding.

· Identify, document and log best practice resources already in use within the sector and identify any perceived gaps or need for activities to support need.

· Work alongside VCSE organisations and early childhood experts to identify and begin to develop developmentally appropriate activities for infants and toddlers based on the needs and assets assessment that can be delivered in a community setting.

· Identify accessible and child friendly locations for activities and resources.

· In developing groups recognise that individuals may have a range of health inequalities that may require a trauma informed approach to the work.

· Collaborate with the local authority and health services including the Integrated Care Board for supportive policies and resources.

3. Celebrate and promote the Under 5’s offer developed through this programme

· Organise community events to introduce the activities to promote the offer and champion this with the wider community.

· Provide tasters for example on sensory play, baby yoga, music and movement, and parenting workshops, focusing on child parent interaction.

· Introduce campaigns to support the programme’s aim and share information about early childhood.

· Organise an event to celebrate programme accomplishments and positive impacts.

· Appreciate parent/carer leaders, volunteers, VCSE groups, and stakeholders.

4. Inclusive Approach

• Identify and engage marginalised groups for inclusivity. Collaborate with local organisations to enhance outreach ensuring that people experiencing health inequalities can participate.
• Adapt activities to be culturally sensitive, respecting diverse backgrounds and traditions.
• Actively promote equal opportunities, celebrate diversity and challenge discriminatory practice

 5. Monitoring and recording activity, impact and evaluation

· Gather feedback from parents/carers, children, and community members about activity effectiveness. Review workforce development opportunities.

· Develop a comprehensive evaluation framework in collaboration with colleagues to demonstrate impact.

· Evaluate the impact of the capacity building programme, provide recommendations for improvement.

· Assess activity impact, identify gaps, and address barriers with the steering group.

 6. Collaboration for Sustainability

· Collaborate with businesses, educational institutions, statutory partners and healthcare providers to promote the activities and gain additional resources.

· Explore further sustainable funding models for ongoing activities.

· Facilitate mentorship opportunities for VCSE groups to respond to early years needs and the trauma-informed approach as required.

· Replicate activities in new community locations.

12. Other requirements

· To ensure that all work delivered meets the requirements of Wakefield District Safeguarding Partnership and within the context of Wakefield Families Together

· To work with YLC colleagues, where agendas are aligned to avoid duplication for example, promote activities through the Young Lives Newsletter, promote activities and opportunities via www.WF-I-Can, develop joint volunteering opportunities and contribute to events, networks and mapping of services.

· To promote engagement in the emerging advisory groups for VCSE and children and young people.

· May be required to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends and travel across and outside the district.

· Act in a manner that contributes to a positive and credible public profile for Young Lives Consortium.

· Participate in your own reviews and appraisal.

· Take part in training and personal development and participate in team meetings, staff development, away days and reviews.

· Must be legally entitled to work in UK.

· Undertake any other duties as required which are in line with the objectives of the post.
