Job description

Age UK Gloucestershire’s aim is to make our county the best place in the UK in which to grow older and we are recruiting exciting roles to help us do this!

Project Officer – Community Circles

Salary- up to £21,000 per annum

Location – Barnwood, Gloucester

Hours – 37 hours per week (FT)

Duration – Initial 12 month fixed term contract, extension subject to funding

Age UK Gloucestershire is a small charity, with big ambitions.  We are constantly looking at new ways to support older people to remain independent at home and connected to their community.  We have created this exciting new role to bring these innovations to older people across Gloucestershire.

Community Circles is an approach which brings people together around a person who wants to make a change in their life.  This new project will have a particular focus on older people ageing without children and will set up and facilitate Circles, report on their effectiveness at helping people remain independent – as well as supporting our existing ‘Homeshare’ intergenerational living project, which is building momentum throughout the county.

We are looking for;

• A people person – a great listener who can build solid relationships to better understand people’s needs and work with them to help them achieve their goals.

• A projects person – someone who can plan how to take our idea and get it off the ground quickly and effectively.

• A doing person – happy to be hands on, delivering the projects with older people.

• A persuasive person – using positive communication to promote our projects to any audience.

If that sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you.  In return, we can offer great benefits, flexibility and the chance to be part of well-respected, ambitious local charity, which is making a difference to thousands of older people across Gloucestershire.

We are committed to being an inclusive organisation and are working hard to better represent diversity at all levels from our amazing staff and volunteers, to the brilliant people in the communities we serve.

Closing Date for applications:  Monday 5th July 2021.
