You’ll be responsible for developing and delivering our portfolio of mass participation and challenge events, ensuring excellent supporter experiences and sustainable income growth.
The role will lead on recruiting and supporting event participants across a mixed portfolio (including guaranteed places, third-party event and challenge providers, international challenge events and CCLG-owned events such as our Big Hike. You’ll also take a pro-active role in growing CCLG’s own events programme, identifying, testing and helping to scale new opportunities, while maintaining strong reporting, compliance and supporter care.
Events fundraising is a key area of growth for CCLG, and we’re looking for a passionate, focused and driven individual to support the team to make our ambitious growth plans a reality.
We’re looking for a confident communicator, with strong organisation skills, who’ll use their own initiative and ability to manage a varied workload. You’ll be self-driven, motivated by achieving targets and delivering the best possible supporter experience. The role involves project management and innovation, and you’ll be responsible for confidently driving projects forward, whilst confidently managing a range of internal and external stakeholders.
This role is offered on a hybrid basis, with an expectation of two days per week in our Leicester office.

Duties and key responsibilities
Challenge Event Support
- Provide day-to-day support to the Senior Challenge Events Officer across Sarcoma UK’s challenge events portfolio.
- Act as a point of contact for fundraisers participating in challenge events, responding to enquiries and signposting them to the right support.
- Support the delivery of the London Marathon, including stewardship and the setup of the Running Show and after party.
- Help administer the challenge events process, including registrations, deadlines, record-keeping and post-event evaluations.
- Assist with the organisation of event-day experiences, such as cheer stations and receptions, to support participants and celebrate their achievements.
- Help compile reports and evaluations for events within the challenge event portfolio.
- Support research into new challenge events to help grow the charity’s portfolio.
Communications
- Support the creation of challenge event content for online and offline channels, including the website, working with the Senior Challenge Events Officer and the Communications team.
- Help compile impact messages for fundraisers.
- Help gather fundraising stories, case studies and achievements to share with the Communications team.
Supporter Care
- Provide friendly, gold-standard support to challenge event fundraisers, helping them access the resources they need to maximise their fundraising and stay involved long term.
- Help deliver personalised stewardship journeys to support participants in meeting or exceeding their fundraising targets.
- Respond promptly to fundraising enquiries by post, email and telephone.
- Help ensure fundraisers receive timely recognition, including letters, certificates and impact updates as appropriate.
- Send fundraising materials and packs to supporters.
Administration and Compliance
- Maintain accurate supporter records using Sarcoma UK’s database (Raiser’s Edge).
- Help ensure Gift Aid is captured at every opportunity.
- Help monitor and manage event fundraising stock.
- Work in line with fundraising legislation, including GDPR, risk management, health and safety regulations, and the Fundraising Regulator’s Code of Conduct.
Other
- Provide event support, which may involve occasional weekend or evening work.
- Adapt to the evolving needs of Sarcoma UK by undertaking other duties as required.

ABOUT THE ROLE
Working with individuals, community groups and clubs you will build meaningful relationships and deliver excellent supporter experiences, increasing engagement and maximising fundraising income. You will be responsible for individidual gifts up to the value of £5,000 and integral to our fundraising strategy, you will play a key role in creating and developing new public fundraising initiatives from the ground up, helping to grow income and inspire support.
Community & Individual fundraising

Individual giving
- Provide excellent supporter care through written and verbal communication throughout the year as needed.
- Maintaining accurate records of donations made directly and from third-party platforms and ensure all donors and fundraisers are thanked in an appropriate and timely manner.
- Identifying opportunities within our individual donors and engaged community to retain and grow loyalty.
- Manage and develop relationships with monthly donors, working to develop stewardship journeys that engage and encourage long-term commitment and growth from this income stream. Identify growth opportunities and potential to turn one-off donors into regular supporters.
Team responsibilities
- Where needed, use your creativity to work with the Communication team to develop collateral related to community and individual fundraising.
- Participate in regular meetings with wider team to inform and update on progress, ensuring other departments know and can celebrate funding successes.

About Kidney Care UK
There are 7.2 million people with some form of chronic kidney disease (CKD) in the UK, equivalent to 1 in 10 people. There are one million people in the UK who have CKD but are not aware of it.

About the Role
As our Senior Community and Events Officer, you will play a pivotal role in growing and developing Kidney Care UK's community fundraising programme, helping supporters across the UK raise vital funds to support people affected by kidney disease.
You will lead on developing and expanding our community fundraising income through supporter-led fundraising, local groups, community organisations, schools, clubs and community partnerships. Alongside this, you'll manage a portfolio of exciting challenge and special events, including the Manchester Marathon, Great North Run, our Treks and Adrenaline programme, and other fundraising opportunities that engage supporters and inspire lasting connections with the charity.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and growth of Kidney Care UK's community fundraising programme, increasing supporter participation, income and engagement.
- Build and manage relationships with individual fundraisers, community groups, schools, clubs, faith groups and local organisations.
- Develop innovative community fundraising campaigns, initiatives and resources to inspire supporters to fundraise in their own communities.
- Identify and secure new community fundraising opportunities, creating a strong pipeline of future income.
- Manage, grow and attend a portfolio of challenge events, including the Manchester Marathon, Great North Run, Treks and Adrenaline programme, and other third-party challenge events.
- Develop and deliver a programme of special events and fundraising opportunities that engage existing and new supporters.
- Provide outstanding stewardship to supporters, ensuring every fundraiser feels valued, supported and motivated throughout their journey.
- Monitor and manage income and expenditure budgets, ensuring financial targets are achieved.
- Line-manage, coach and support the Fundraising Assistant to ensure team success and development.
- Work closely with the Communications and Marketing teams to develop recruitment, engagement and fundraising campaigns.
- Ensure all fundraising activities comply with relevant fundraising regulations, health and safety requirements and GDPR.
- Monitor, evaluate and report on fundraising performance, identifying trends and opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Keep informed of community fundraising trends and best practice, bringing fresh ideas and innovation to the programme.
About You
We are looking for a passionate, dedicated individual who will bring the following:
- A minimum of two years’ experience in a community fundraising or events role, with a proven ability to deliver successful programmes of work.
- Proven experience in organising events, using creativity and strategy to maximise participation and revenue.
- Excellent project management skills – you can juggle multiple projects and deadlines with ease.
- A creative flair for spotting opportunities, developing ideas and executing them flawlessly.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills – you know how to build lasting relationships.

- Experience of managing budgets and suppliers to ensure smooth event delivery.

We are looking for a Community Fundraiser, to help grow income, strengthen supporter relationships and unlock the power of community fundraising nationwide.
This is an exciting role within our Community and Events team. You will work in a small team to innovate and drive the delivery of a community fundraising programme to help grow our supporter base and maximise income potential. You’ll inspire and support a range of groups and organisations to raise funds for Samaritans, by building strong, long-term relationships. You’ll also identify and develop new community fundraising opportunities.
We’re looking for someone who is solution focused and enjoys working collaboratively to support fundraisers to succeed. If you’re an experienced community fundraiser who thrives on building relationships, identifying opportunities and making things happen, we’d love to hear from you.

What you'll be doing:
Growing community fundraising income
- Deliver a community fundraising programme, encouraging supporters, groups and organisations to raise funds for Samaritans.
- Identify, develop and secure new community fundraising opportunities.
Building strong supporter and volunteer relationships
- Build strong, long-lasting relationships with supporters.
- Deliver great supporter journeys and experiences that inspire long term engagement.
- Coordinate the delivery of community fundraising events.

Innovating and collaborating across Samaritans

ABOUT THE ROLE
As a Senior Fundraiser, you will be responsible for delivering fundraising income and supporter engagement across community, corporate, and events fundraising. You'll identify new opportunities, nurture existing relationships, and provide outstanding stewardship to ensure supporters feel valued and connected to the impact of their fundraising.

ABOUT YOU
We're looking for someone who is passionate about fundraising, enjoys building relationships, and has a proven track record of delivering results.
You will have:

Experience in fundraising, particularly across community, corporate, and/or events fundraising.
