About the role:

The Assistant Support Worker will work across the BB4K service. Following training they will support the service through groupwork, assessments and, subject to development, hold a small case load providing one to one support work.

The role of Families Project Worker involves supporting a caseload of families living in temporary accommodation. The role requires a combination of specialist knowledge and excellent relationship building skills to support residents with varying degrees of mental health, addiction and trauma related issues to engage with appropriate support, improve their experience of temporary accommodation and to access suitable housing solutions.

The role is dependent on excellent communication and joint working with colleagues and a variety of partners and professionals; including the NHS, Probation Service, local council services and other third sector organisations.

The role requires a high degree of motivation to support complex and vulnerable people, often in a lone-working situation. With a passion to work collaboratively with others for the good of our service users, and with some experience of working in a related field in a voluntary or paid capacity.

A high degree of emotional intelligence is required to support service users, many of whom have complex emotional needs, with backgrounds of trauma, neglect, abuse, crime and low self-worth. A role of this nature will experience a range of emotions from joy to grief and as such requires a high degree of resilience to cope with the emotional demands of the role.

Making decisions, “in the moment” to do the right thing to mitigate risk with service users can place high emotional demands on the job holder. The role is highly reactive, unpredictable and at times, chaotic. The role therefore requires a high degree of self-awareness to one’s own resilience levels and exercising appropriate levels of self-care.

The role: Family Support Worker (Bereavement)

Established in 1999 SeeSaw Grief Support is an award-winning charity supporting children and young people in Oxfordshire who are bereaved or about to be bereaved. The work supporting children, young people and their families is delivered by a team of clinical staff and volunteers, who work with families in their own homes. Because of this regular travel is involved, often at the end of the school day. We regularly provide support for between 400-500 children and young people each year. 

Our clinical team of 5 practitioners, and 12 volunteers, is supported by our Clinical Data and Volunteer Manager. Due to increasing demand for our service, we are expanding our team and looking for a 6th practitioner to join us, focusing on direct work with bereaved children and young people, and those facing the death of a close family member. We are looking for candidates who have gained experience of working with children and young people in a range of settings. You are a good communicator and skilled at making and sustaining supportive relationships with children and young people to effect change.Our practitioners have a caseload of individual children and their families, and liaise with professionals from schools, health, social care and children and young people’s mental health services, as well as with our team of Volunteer Support Workers. You will be able to work collaboratively and on your own initiative, ideally have a qualification in health care, social work, counselling, psychological services or education; knowledge of therapeutic interventions in grief work would be helpful but not essential as training will be given.

Can you also research the needs of 18–25-year-olds, develop peer support and programmes for them, and deliver this on a small budget with patient and carer input throughout?

This role provides high-quality emotional, social, and practical support to children with heart conditions, their siblings, parents, and carers, from birth to 25 years. You will deliver 1-to-1 outreach in the hospital and the community, lead play and wellbeing activities, and maintain a visiting programme across children’s departments, including PICU, Cardiac, and NICU. 20% of your focus is supporting young people aged 18–25, identifying their needs, assessing numbers, and developing peer support programmes. Family Support Coordinator

We are looking for a skilled and motivated Family Support Coordinator to deliver targeted, high-quality support to fathers and male caregivers across Stroud and Gloucester.

Join a local charity supporting families with young children through home visiting, group work, one-to-one support and targeted projects. 

The Role

This service focuses on improving the wellbeing, confidence and engagement of fathers and male caregivers, particularly during pregnancy, early parenthood and times of family stress or transition.

This role will focus on engaging fathers who may be less likely to access traditional services, including through outreach, hospital-based engagement, family hub delivery, one-to-one support and home visiting. You will build and manage a targeted caseload aligned to family hubs and areas of highest need and bring specialist knowledge of father engagement whilst contributing to the ongoing development of programme practice across the organisation.

This role requires flexibility, including regular out-of-hours work, to ensure fathers can access support at times and in places that work for them.

Key accountabilities include:

· Deliver high-quality, targeted support to fathers and male caregivers

· Lead outreach and engagement activity with fathers and underrepresented groups

· Act as a specialist in father engagement within the wider family support team

· Contribute to the effective delivery and development of Dad Matters across the locality

· Work in partnership with local services to strengthen support for fathers and families

About You

We are looking for someone who understands the importance of supporting fathers and male caregivers, and who can build trust with people who may be unsure about asking for help. You will be confident working with families, able to manage a caseload, and comfortable delivering support in a range of settings including hospitals, family hubs, homes and community spaces.

You will need to be flexible, relational and practical, with the ability to work some evenings or weekends to reach fathers at the right time.

You will bring:

· Experience of working with families, fathers, parents or caregivers

· Experience of providing outreach support to families or individuals

· An understanding of the challenges families can face during pregnancy, early parenthood and family life

· Strong relationship-building skills

· Confidence in outreach, engagement and partnership working

· Good safeguarding awareness

· The ability to keep accurate records and manage a caseload
