As Deputy Manager, you’ll lead and inspire staff to create a psychologically informed service that drives meaningful change. You’ll play a key role in delivering high-quality support to vulnerable individuals facing significant barriers. 

Key responsibilities in this role will be: 

• Support the team with day-to-day service management and development. 

• Lead and motivate staff through effective line management and supervision, ensuring a person-centred, recovery-focused approach. 

• Respond to incidents and work with the management team to maintain high health and safety standards. 

• Build strong partnerships with external organisations to achieve the best outcomes for clients. 

Work mainly Monday–Friday office hours, with occasional flexibility to meet service needs.

Job purpose

To coordinate and support the delivery of marketing, events, and outreach activity across Toynbee Hall’s Advice Services, with a particular focus on the Debt Free Advice partnership. I am urgently seeking an experienced Interim People & Culture Advisor to focus on Change for a not-for-profit organisation based in East London. The role pays a salary in the range of £41,000 to £43,500 per year depending upon experience and requires hybrid working (2 days per week in the office) on a fixed term salaried contract starting ASAP until the end of March 2026.

Reporting to one of the Change People Partners, your key responsibilities include: -

• Providing high quality advice and guidance to managers and staff about change processes through various media such as at meetings or via the People Advice mailbox
• Providing support to the Change People Partners leading change at all stages of organisational change. This will include maintaining the datasheets for change, managing employee relations issues arising from change, producing accurate redundancy calculations, preparing documents and reports, reviewing terms and conditions of employment
• Working independently with the self-awareness to know when to escalate higher risk issues to the appropriate Change People Partners for guidance or resolution

What you’ll do

In this role, you’ll be part of a friendly, collaborative team that delivers high-quality training, conferences, and events for mental health professionals. You’ll play a key part in coordinating sessions, supporting trainers and participants, and keeping our operations running smoothly so that every event feels seamless and well organised

• You’ll coordinate and schedule training, conferences and events (online, in-person and hybrid), liaising with internal colleagues and external partners to ensure smooth delivery.
• You’ll support delivery days by facilitating sessions, handling AV/IT setup, and assisting with any troubleshooting needed during the event.
• As the Training Conferences and Events Officer, you’ll act as the administrative lead for allocated programmes, managing systems, processing bookings and applications, sending invoices, monitoring payments, and ensuring attendee viability.
• You will provide high-quality administrative support to trainers and speakers, including preparing documents, arranging travel within budget, offering Zoom guidance, and organising team meetings with agendas and minutes.
• As the Training Conferences and Events Officer, you’ll maintain accurate data across our systems, manage a high volume of email and phone enquiries, and nurture strong relationships with trainers, supervisors and commissioners to help plan and deliver programmes effectively

What you’ll bring

We’re looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, people-centred environment, bringing strong organisation, calm under pressure, and proven experience in coordinating training or events while delivering an excellent experience for everyone involved.

• Experience coordinating projects or events in a busy, deadline-driven environment, with the ability to manage competing priorities confidently.
• Strong administrative skills, including maintaining accurate records, managing databases, and setting up efficient systems.
• Clear, professional communication skills, enabling you to work effectively with colleagues at all levels as well as external partners, trainers and participants.
• Ability to work independently and take initiative, whilst also collaborating well as part of a supportive team.
• Confident IT capability, including Microsoft Office, online platforms such as Zoom, and familiarity with database systems (e.g., Salesforce)

Key details

Hours: Part-time (17.5hrs) ideally Monday to Friday 09:00 - 12:30, flexibility to support training, conferences and events outside of these hours required

Salary: £31,366 per annum FTE, plus 6% contributory pension scheme

Location: Hybrid (a mixture of home/onsite working): staff are working onsite for at least 20% of their working hours, either at our London site (4-8 Rodney Street, London N1 9JH) or our Northern Hub (Huckletree, The Express Building, 9 Great Ancoats Street, Manchester M4 5AD).

Contract type: Fixed term 6 months

The Royal Geographical Society (with the Institute of British Geographers) is the learned society and professional body for geography and geographers. About You and the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to develop a greater understanding of the academic peer review and publishing process and provides an excellent opportunity to work with the academic community.

The role is ideally suited to someone with very strong organisational and communication skills and an understanding of and interest in contemporary academic geography.

The Society publishes five peer-reviewed geography journals, four of which are managed by the Society’s Managing Editor: Transactions of the Institute of British Geographers (TIBG), The Geographical Journal, Area, and Geo: Geography and Environment.

This role will provide administrative support for the transition from ScholarOne to Research Exchange screening and review platform.

Key responsibilities

• Screen and process submitted papers and communicate with authors to ensure correct formatting, anonymity, word length, responses to reviewers.
• Screen for AI-generated submissions and references and liaise with Managing Editor toensure papers meet ethical publishing standards for consideration.
• Maintain a record of all submitted papers in an Excel spreadsheet format (already established).
• Screen accepted papers and communicate with authors to ensure corrected files are uploaded for production.
• Send post-publication emails to reviewers and authors.
• Support the Managing Editor in setting up new workflows for Research Exchange.
• Potential for supporting with finding and inviting peer reviewers

Salary and Benefits

This is a part time (0.4 FTE), six month fixed-term post subject to successful completion of a probationary period of six weeks. The salary range for this post is £30,065-£31,740 per annum (pro rata to £12,026-£12,696 per annum) depending on experience and qualifications. This post is based in South Kensington, London, there are options for home working.

World Jewish Relief created the Specialist Training and Employment Programme (STEP) for refugees in 2016 and today we are the largest provider of specialist employment support to people who have experienced forced migration in the UK.STEP aims to support and empower people through a tailored employment programme that addresses the complex barriers that they face when preparing for and ultimately finding work in the UK.   

We support all people who have experienced forced migration, regardless of their proximity to the labour market, to develop the skills and access the opportunities they need to secure sustainable and meaningful employment. We run STEP online and in person programmes across the UK.  

We have now expanded our work to deliver (in partnership with the British Council) an English Language and Employment Support Programme for up to 4,000 Ukrainians and Hong Kong BNO status/visa holders (50% of each community) over the next 12 months.

We are recruiting Ukrainian speaking Employment Advisors to join the STEP team delivering this new programme. You will provide high quality advice and guidance through 1:1 employability support and group employability workshops with the aim of coaching individuals and supporting them on their journey into employment that suits their previous experience and skill set.

You will prepare participants for employment and help them to achieve their chosen training and employment objectives. You will monitor and encourage participants’ engagement and attendance in all aspects of the programme. You will provide an exemplary level of support to STEP participants working towards a variety of performance targets based on the progression outcomes of participants including successful delivery of workshops, completion of training courses, volunteering, and achieving and sustaining paid employment. 

The Employment Advisors will work remotely and can be based anywhere in the UK.

About you

We are looking for candidates who have:

• Proven experience or knowledge within the employment sector
• Understanding of the issues and challenges faced by people who have experienced forced displacement accessing employment.
• Knowledge of adult learning/vocational training
• Experience of delivering 1:1 advice and guidance and coaching
• Experience of reviewing and supervising a case load of participants
• Awareness of Safeguarding people at risk and maintaining professional boundaries
• Experience facilitating group workshops
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Cross-cultural sensitivity
• Good admin and IT skills (CRM database, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Advanced level of English
• Competency in Ukrainian
