Homeless Link is the national membership charity for frontline homelessness services. We work to improve services through research, guidance and learning, and campaign for policy change that will ensure everyone has a place to call home and the support they need to keep it. The Senior Communication Manager will lead the communication work for our National Workforce Programme. Homeless Link is the national membership charity for frontline homelessness agencies and the wider housing with health, care and support sector in England. As Legacy and In-Memory Manager you will be responsible for leading your team to drive transformational change, through the delivery of our legacy and in-memory growth strategy.

Role description:

Job Title:  Community Outreach Worker

About the role

We’re looking for an engaging, empathetic and self-reliant outreach worker to join our dedicated team working to deliver support and practical advice to a community that has suffered as a result of the biggest treatment scandal in NHS history.

This is an opportunity to work for an organisation with a 75-year track record of effective advocacy for our small community of people living with genetic and acquired bleeding disorders and their families. Most importantly, this role has the potential to directly improve peoples’ lives.

Around two thirds of our members are impacted by the contaminated blood scandal of the 1970s and 80s, which was recently investigated by the Infected Blood Inquiry. The resulting report in 2024 recommended improved health resources for people with bleeding disorders as well as compensation and support for those infected and affected by the scandal.

Although significant progress has been made, there’s a lot more to do. Many of the community feel isolated and with the Infected Blood Inquiry now closed there is a need for people to maintain and develop connections with others that understand what they have and continue to endure. It is vital that the community has a safe environment to express their views and seek help and support.

Background and purpose

We are the only UK-wide charity for all those affected by a genetic bleeding disorder, a community of individuals and families, healthcare professionals and supporters.

For more than 75 years we have campaigned for better treatment, been a source of information and advice and supported people living with life-long conditions.

Improving understanding about living with a bleeding disorder

Providing support at all life stages

Influencing and advocating on policy and access to treatment.

More than 40,000 men, women and children in the UK have a diagnosed bleeding disorder, and the number rises every year. Membership of the Haemophilia Society is free and open to all.

Key responsibilities:

• Engage with the infected blood community to understand their ongoing needs and the support that could be of value.
• Develop and deliver a series of engagement events to support the community and fulfil the identified needs.
• Feedback to the Haemophilia Society issues, needs and concerns raised by the infected blood community.
• Engage with external stakeholders who support and deliver services for the infected blood community.
• Explore additional resources available that may be useful to the community and where appropriate develop additional resources.
• Liaise with other charities active in this space across the UK.
• Track engagement with events and gather feedback on the objectives of the meetings.

Other requirements

• This role will require extensive travel throughout the UK and to work varying hours including evenings and weekends as required.

The role

This is a dual-focus role sitting right at the heart of how we deliver our impact. You'll lead our volunteer programme nationally; recruiting, training and supporting the coaches and volunteers who deliver our programmes, while also overseeing programme delivery across our London partner schools.

On the volunteer side, you'll manage the full volunteer journey from recruitment and DBS checks through to training, engagement and retention, and act as our organisation's DBS Lead. On the delivery side, you'll coordinate and deliver MyBigCareer programmes in London, acting as a key relationship holder for school partners and ensuring young people receive consistently high-quality careers guidance and employability support.

This is a hands-on role for someone equally comfortable with strategic coordination and direct delivery, who thrives in a close-knit, values-led small team.

About you

You'll bring experience in volunteer management, programme coordination or a similar role, ideally in the charity or education sector. You'll be a confident communicator, a natural relationship builder, and someone who cares deeply about equity and social mobility.

Essential experience and skills include:

• Experience managing or coordinating volunteers, ideally in a charity, education or community setting
• Experience coordinating or delivering programmes or projects with multiple stakeholders
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
• Confidence delivering workshops, training or presentations to groups
• Sound understanding of safeguarding principles
• Competent with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace and CRM systems

Desirable:

• Experience in or with schools or education settings
• Experience as or supporting a DBS Lead
• Knowledge of or connections to London communities
• Lived experience of the inequalities faced by the young people we support

The details

• Salary: £30,000–£32,500 FTE (pro rata for part time)
• Permanent contract, full time (37hrs) or part time (minimum 30hrs) considered
• Hybrid; home-based with at least weekly travel to London and occasional UK travel

Young Carers Male Sessional Worker

We are seeking a male flexible, reliable, and enthusiastic Sessional Worker to support the delivery of services for Young Carers aged 5-16. Due to an increase in trips and off-site activities, and to ensure we provide appropriate support for all young people- particularly our male Young Carers - we are particularly seeking a male sessional worker to join the team. The role involves two key parts. The first is helping to deliver engaging, age-appropriate activities that promote wellbeing, reduce isolation, and give Young Carers a break from their responsibilities. The second is supporting with outreach to local schools, colleges, community settings and professionals to identify and engage Young Carers. 

About The Role: 

You will work across two key age groups- 5-11 and 12–16 - delivering and supervising activities, supporting events and trips, and providing behavioural management where needed. You will deliver awareness training sessions, run stalls and aim to identify and engage Young Carers in the community. You will also help ensure young Carers feel heard, included, and supported as they navigate the challenges of their caring roles. We are particularly looking for a male sessional worker who is available for our upcoming residential trip to the Young Carers Festival on the 26th – 28th June and a day trip to Southend-On-Sea on the 6th June.  This is a sessional role, therefore hours are not guaranteed but will be offered based on project need.

Key Requirements Include:
