The Nature Friendly Farming Network is a UK-wide, farmer-led organisation working to restore the balance between farming and nature.
We support farmers by sharing practical knowledge, resources and case studies that help boost food production, protect wildlife, and build climate resilience.
We influence policy to secure fair rewards for farmers who look after the environment, and we connect thousands of like-minded farmers across the UK through knowledge sharing, events and campaigns.
Membership is free and open to farmers, the public and organisations.
About the role
We are looking for a Parliamentary Engagement Officer to strengthen our engagement with policymakers across the UK.
This is an exciting opportunity to work at the intersection of farming, environment and policy. You will play a key role in ensuring that farmer experience and evidence are reflected in parliamentary discussions, helping to shape conversations that impact the future of farming.
Working directly with the Chief Executive and closely with the policy team, you will monitor parliamentary activity, identify opportunities for engagement, and support timely and well-informed interaction with MPs, peers and their teams. You will also work across the organisation, including with country teams and farmer steering groups, to ensure engagement reflects priorities across all UK nations.
This is a practical, fast-paced role suited to someone who is organised, politically aware, and able to respond quickly to emerging opportunities.
Key responsibilities

Monitor parliamentary activity across Westminster and the devolved parliaments, identifying relevant debates, questions, committees and opportunities for engagement

Maintain a forward view on key parliamentary activity and upcoming moments of influence

Produce and circulate clear, concise briefings on parliamentary activity and recommended areas for engagement

Draft and support the submission of parliamentary questions, briefings and lines for MPs, peers and their staff

Build and maintain relationships with MPs, peers, advisers and parliamentary staff across parties
-
Support coordinated engagement with political stakeholders, ensuring activity is timely and aligned with organisational priorities

Work with colleagues and partners to support effective and aligned parliamentary engagement

Support relationships between farmers and parliamentarians, including organising farm visits and meetings where appropriate

Translate farmer experience and insights into clear and practical input for parliamentary engagement
-
Support the planning and delivery of parliamentary events, meetings and roundtables

Organise meetings with MPs, peers and advisers, including preparing briefings and follow-up actions

Maintain accurate records of parliamentary contacts and engagement activity, and support internal reporting

Contribute to campaign activity and wider organisational work where required

The Community Centre team focuses particularly on Toynbee Hall’s strategic objective to help our local community thrive; increasing wellbeing and economic security in key groups.
Toynbee Hall is the lead delivery partner of Linkage Plus, a community programme for people aged 50+ in Tower Hamlets that delivers a wide range of accessible activities designed to improve wellbeing, keep older adults active and reduce social isolation.
Another key programme is our Play Programme, which forms part of our wider community provision. It offers children fun, inclusive opportunities to play while supporting parents to access local support networks and strengthen community connections.

Job purpose
Toynbee Hall’s community centre delivers a variety of community projects for people of all ages who live in Tower Hamlets. The Community Participation Officers work as part of the community team at Toynbee Hall, flexibly and collaboratively using their skills and experience to work with and support community members to create a welcoming and inclusive space.
Scope of role
Whilst you may be expected to lead on certain elements of the programme, we will work together to determine how we assign tasks and workload across the team. We work together and take shared responsibility for delivering all aspects of our communities portfolio.
Key working relationships
The CPOs report to the Community Centre Manager. The role works in close collaboration with the Community Partnerships Manager a tndhe research team.
Maintaining excellent external relationships is vital to this role. The CPO may liaise with relevant local networks and organisations. Community engagement is vital: the CPO will also regularly consult and engage with community members.
Key Responsibilities
Community Programming:
• Working with the Community Programming Manager to plan activities and events that are safe, in the budget, and intentionally designed to be inclusive and appropriate for the intended audience. • Working with the Community Programming Manager to design and safe, creative, and stimulating play sessions and events for children, ensuring activities are developmentally appropriate, inclusive and delivered within budget; and delivering these activities
• Delivering to a brief, and clearly and proactively communicating plans with stakeholders across teams. • Supporting and enabling local people to have a meaningful voice in shaping our services.
Safeguarding and Safety:
• Taking responsibility for the upkeep of the community centre, ensuring that facilities operate in line with organisational health and safety policies and procedures.
• Implementing agreed procedures to provide appropriate support or referrals for service users, recognising and responding to safeguarding concerns, maintaining clear records.
• Following administrative procedures.
Outreach:
• Promoting our services and ensure they are as impactful as possible
• Representing Toynbee Hall to external audiences

Essential Criteria
Community Programming
• Experience of planning and delivering safe, inclusive, and in-budget community activities and events for diverse audiences, including older people and communities experiencing social or economic disadvantage.
• Experience of designing and delivering safe, creative, and developmentally appropriate play sessions and activities for children.
• Ability to deliver work to an agreed brief and proactively communicate plans and progress with internal and external stakeholders.
• Demonstrable commitment to community participation, with experience of supporting local people to shape services and contribute to positive community change.
Safeguarding and Safety
• Knowledge of safeguarding principles and experience of recognising, responding to, recording, and appropriately escalating safeguarding concerns.

We’re looking for someone passionate about community engagement to help build and strengthen relationships across Medway and Swale. In this role, you’ll connect with local audiences, carry out research to reach new communities, and collaborate with our team to deliver an inclusive and inspiring cultural programme.
Key Info:
● Full-time, 5 days per week (37.5 hours), and due to the nature of this programme, some weekend and evening work will be required
● Hybrid working with a minimum of 2 days per week in the Chatham-based Ideas Test office and regular travel to events/meetings at other locations.
● Salary: £28,000
● Holidays: 25 days holiday per year plus bank holidays.
As Audience Engagement Officer, your role will be to liaise, communicate and deepen relationships with our local communities. You will also carry out the necessary research and monitoring to reach our target audiences. You will work closely with the whole team, as we deliver a compelling, inclusive cultural programme for and with the people of Medway and Swale. We are seeking someone who shares our commitment to socially engaged practice and co-creation. Our work spans multiple art forms and ranges from small, intensive programmes to large-scale public works. We want to create authentic, impactful work with communities over the long term, experimenting and learning as we go.
Key responsibilities:

Working with Ideas Test Senior Producers to engage people in our neighbourhood programmes.

Attend Ideas Test’s events: providing practical support to ensure a quality event, carrying out surveys and encouraging people to join the mailing list.

In collaboration with the Operations Manager and external evaluator, ensure that audience capture data and evaluation materials are collected and input.

Maintain a social media presence with active engagement across a range of platforms.

Ensure information about Ideas Test’s event is updated on the website and listed widely online and via newsletters.

Attend professional development training and other relevant opportunities

Attend regular team meetings and contribute to the development and implementation of Ideas Test’s programme.
