The National Flood Forum (NFF) is seeking a dynamic, motivated individual for the role of Flood Engagement Officer for London and the Home Counties. Key Details:
• Location: Home-based (London and Home Counties team), with regular travel across London and the South, including evening meetings and occasional overnight stays.
• Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week
• Salary: £24,500 to £25,500 per annum rising to £27,840.90 (discretionary London weighting may apply) travel expenses covered
• Contract: Permanent

Role Overview:
The Flood Engagement Officer will support the London and Home Counties community engagement team, reporting to a Community Engagement Manager. Your primary responsibility will be to work closely with communities to support them in tackling flooding risks.
Key Responsibilities:
• Community Project Delivery: Lead and support the implementation of projects focused on flood risk management.
• Community Engagement: Engage and empower at-risk communities, ensuring they have the tools and information to co-create solutions to flood risks.
• Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain relationships with key community stakeholders and partners.
• Data Management: Provide data to help evaluate and support engagement activities.
• Support the Senior Team: Assist in broader tasks and activities as required by the senior team.
About You:
The ideal candidate will be:
• Empathetic: Understand the challenges faced by those at risk of flooding and help to work with communities and agencies to provide practical solutions.
• Organized and Flexible: Able to prioritize tasks and travel extensively across the region, including evenings and occasional overnight stays.
• Collaborative: A team player with a solution-focused mindset.
• Skilled in Engagement: Experience or an interest in community engagement and building relationships.
• Driving Licence: Full driving licence and access to a car are essential due to the travel requirements.

About the role
In this role, you’ll champion best practice in engagement, ensuring that SYMCA’s approach is ethical, accessible, and impactful. You’ll design and deliver engagement activities and training, provide internal consultancy, and work with partners to maximise collective impact. Your work will help shape policy, improve organisational capability, and foster a culture of engagement excellence.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design and deliver a corporate engagement training programme to build internal capability and confidence.
- Design and deliver some engagement activities directly but chiefly provide consultancy and advice to the organisation on ethical and accessible engagement, ensuring compliance with best practice and legal standards.
- Collaborate with Bloomberg I-Team and Insights team to co-design innovative engagement and social research projects.
- Coordinate outreach and partnership working with key stakeholders including local authorities, MCAs, Government, VCSE, and universities.
- Convene and manage internal and external engagement networks to build organisational capacity and foster peer learning.
- Identify emerging trends and best practices in engagement, translating insights into strategic recommendations.

Reporting to Director, Supporter Engagement

We are seeking an enterprising, organised individual to join Akshaya Patra UK as our Supporter Engagement Officer. The role is a joyfully versatile one which requires planning, coordination, and a strong 'make it happen' attitude. As the first point of contact for supporters, community groups, and partners, the candidate will ensure every interaction, whether by phone, email, social media, or in-person, is positive, timely, and professional.
A key part of the role will be to build and grow volunteer chapters across the UK, developing local champions who increase awareness and funds for Akshaya Patra. Even as the candidate will invite new supporters to join our mission, managing supporter relationships with a defined portfolio of donors, monitoring income, and contributing to data analysis related to supporter engagement and projects is a key part of the role. In addition, maintaining the inventory of supporter engagement tools and merchandise, ensuring materials are organised, available, and effectively used to inspire supporters.
Knowledge of British culture and geography is welcome, while familiarity with India, its regions, and Indian languages is an added advantage. You will attend meetings and events in London and other parts of the UK as required, with the flexibility to work remotely at other times. The role will play an important part in shaping our future plans and helping us grow our income and impact in the years ahead.
Key responsibilities
