Job Purpose

We have an exciting opportunity for someone to join our grants team to support the charity in delivering approximately £5m of grant awards per year.

The Senior Grants Officer will play an active role in supporting Alder Hey Children’s Charity’s grant development and awarding process, liaising with Trust colleagues on grant applications and awards.

The post holder will work closely with fundraising teams to support donor asks and ongoing stewardship.

They will also support the Grants Manager in developing systems and processes for effective grant management, including maintaining up-to-date records on Salesforce.

Main Duties / Tasks

Grant Programme Delivery & Oversight

• Oversee application pipelines and grant status, ensuring efficient progression and escalating issues where required
• Monitor applications in development, ensuring alignment with Charity priorities and Theory of Change model
• Support small grants assessment meetings, including follow-up actions such as applicant liaison and issuing grant letters

Applicant & Stakeholder Support

Performance Monitoring & Continuous Improvement

• Support monitoring of KPIs, including turnaround times, ensuring performance targets are met

Programme Development

• Contribute to the development of grant programmes aligned with Charity priorities
• Support creation and improvement of applicant guidance and programme materials

About the role

We are looking for a Trusts Manager to join our High Value Relationships team and help secure transformational funding for our work with disabled people with complex needs. This is a hybrid role, working 2-3 days in our London office.

Working closely with the Head of High Value Relationships and colleagues across Sense, you will contribute to the development and delivery of our high value fundraising strategy. You will manage a varied portfolio of trust and foundation funders, from early-stage research through to proposal submission, stewardship and reporting.

This role is ideal for an experienced trusts fundraiser who enjoys building relationships, writing compelling proposals, and working collaboratively to bring impactful projects to life.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and manage a strong pipeline of trust and foundation prospects to meet income targets.

Crisis is the national charity for people experiencing homelessness. We have embarked on our 10-year strategy for ending homelessness. We know it is not inevitable. We know together we can end it.

It is an exciting and important time to be joining us at Crisis. We work with thousands of people across England, Scotland, and Wales so they can leave homelessness behind for good. We have recently adapted the way our services work to maximise our impact in ending homelessness. We have increased our capacity to work with people one to one and strengthened our ability to support those people facing the most barriers to preventing or ending their homelessness.

We offer people who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless housing and benefits advice, 1-2-1 coaching, advocacy, courses and peer group sessions alongside practical services of showers and laundry for street homeless.

About the role

As an Engagement and Assessment Worker, you will be part of Crisis Skylight London’s Engagement and Assessment Team, providing a high quality, non-judgemental and safe service to individuals who approach our Skylight Centre. Engagement and Assessment Workers are the first point of contact for a range of enquiries from people who are experiencing homelessness for the first time, individuals with complex and multiple needs, visitors, volunteers, and supporters. You will be providing information about Crisis’ services, delivering a high-quality triage and assessment service, and offering Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG) on local homelessness and other related services. You will also manage a small caseload.

Crisis uses a case management approach, and the successful candidate will attend case management meetings, reflective practice, and team meetings. You will also work collaboratively with external partners and Crisis Skylight London’s Coaching and Learning Teams.

About you

To be successful in this role you will have:

• Experience of working with homeless or other vulnerable groups and understanding of the importance of respecting confidentiality, showing empathy and sensitivity, and working in a boundary way.
• Experience of assessing presenting needs and working in a Psychologically Informed Environment, and in a way that ensures that members with all levels of need can access the service.
• Excellent customer service skills with a commitment to delivering the highest standard of customer care and high quality IAG.
• Good knowledge of homelessness, housing and welfare legislation and Safeguarding procedures.
• Strong interpersonal skills including effective written and verbal communication skills and ability to deal with challenging situations with a calm approach.
• Ability to manage a caseload, and successful relationships with external service providers and partners.
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams)

What you will be doing 

You will identify and secure corporate partnerships that are deeply aligned with our mission, developing propositions that are emotionally compelling and commercially credible. As income grows, so does the role. The expectation is that this person builds not just a partnerships portfolio but, in time, a team around it. 

You will work closely with the Head of Income Generation and Board, with realistic targets in the early stage that give you the time and space to build the right relationships rather than rush the wrong ones. This is not a role where you will be left to figure it out alone. It is one where your ideas are wanted, your judgement is trusted, and your ambition is actively supported. 

What you will bring 

Experience securing or significantly influencing high-value partnerships or commercial relationships at senior level, ideally on a multi-year basis. A genuine instinct for spotting opportunity and the drive to turn it into something real and comfort with ownership and the confidence to create momentum.

Relevant experience may come from the charity sector or from a commercial environment. Attitude and instinct matter more to us than a specific background.
