Alliance Publishing Trust (APT) aims to facilitate the exchange of ideas among people in philanthropy working for social change. We aspire to contribute to building an effective, accountable and thriving philanthropy field by being a ‘critical friend’ to philanthropy worldwide.

To do this we produce Alliance magazine, the leading quarterly publication for philanthropy and social investment worldwide and respected in the sector for thirty years. Each issue provides a special in-depth feature on a key aspect of philanthropy and social investment, with contributors from around the world and expert guest editors as well as interviews, news and book reviews.

We also produce over 700 items of digital content per year: providing premium interviews and articles published exclusively every Tuesday; daily free-to-read news, conference reports and a space for thinking, debate and peer exchange among philanthropy practitioners worldwide; weekly coverage of climate and gender philanthropy, monthly columns and more. In addition to written content, we convene 24 events a year to discuss the latest topics in philanthropy with speakers and attendees across the globe. 

With a core staff team based in London, valued freelance support and a team of representatives around the world, we work with the leading organisations and practitioners worldwide to deliver our charitable mission. Opportunity

As Alliance celebrates its 30th anniversary we are currently seeking a curious, motivated and collaborative individual to join us in the new role of Director of Philanthropy Knowledge. This externally-facing senior role would suit experienced candidates with a passionate interest in philanthropy and with a truly global mindset. Candidates should be eager to both learn about and examine philanthropic giving in all forms and in all contexts.

Building on the strong position of the organisation you will play a key role in shaping the organisational strategy and direction  in the years ahead through the knowledge and insights you will develop and maintain. To excel in this role, you will need to be able to forge positive professional relationships with senior leaders, both at large global institutions and small grassroots organisations.

Summary of main duties and responsibilities

The Director of Philanthropy Knowledge’s principal responsibilities are to keep up-to-date with the developments of the global philanthropy sector; be a proactive knowledge resource for the editorial team; build and maintain a strong network of relationships with key individuals and organisations on every continent; and to work with the Executive Director on generating philanthropic funding and support in line with APT’s strategy.

Knowledge

• Develop expansive knowledge of the global philanthropy sector, the people and organisations in that space, and to keep up with the latest trends and developments
• Maintain this knowledge through reading, research and global event attendance
• Ensure that this knowledge is built on hearing from a broad range of diverse voices and perspectives
• Share this knowledge with the in-house editorial team to help shape the editorial strategy, the publication’s understanding of the sector, and the Alliance event programme
• Share this knowledge with the sector through commentary including written contributions for Alliance and speaking at sector events

Relationship building

• Build and maintain a strong network of relationships with key individuals and organisations on every continent
• Be confident and comfortable to meet with the senior leaders of the sector to learn about their work.
• Be able to connect with leaders from a variety of cultures and contexts
• Attend relevant worldwide conferences and events to connect with key individuals and look for opportunities for how they may contribute towards Alliance’s mission. Eg; as guest editors, contributors, members of the Editorial Advisory Council, or in other forms of organisational partnership with Alliance.

Philanthropic funding & support

• Steward existing relationships with key core funders and sponsors of Alliance
• Ensure grant requirements are positively delivered in good time
• Work with the Executive Director to identify and approach potential funders – both core and project - and sponsors of Alliance
• Ensure that APT’s philanthropic support grows in line with APT’s fundraising goals to match its strategy and plans

General

• Manage a personal travel budget  to support the three core areas above
• Meet staff regularly to ensure seamless input into editorial and organisational plans
• Be an active team member, contributing ideas to the long-term development of Alliance
• Work on required tasks relating to any other APT projects

• Excellent knowledge and understanding of the global philanthropy sector and the people and organisations active within it
• Strong existing personal network of people and organisations working within philanthropy
• Strong communication skills and a proven track record of building and maintaining positive professional relationships

Our Low-Fly Future Campaign Manager will play a key role in our aviation workstrand, which focuses on climate justice and reducing aviation fairly by targeting the most frequent flyers and private jets, while offering a green alternative in the form of more accessible international rail travel. The Low-fly Future Campaign Manager will deliver exciting, innovative, ambitious campaigns and projects to tackle the high-carbon and highly unequal aviation sector. 

This role offers a diverse and varied workload including campaign planning and delivery, communications, public engagement, political engagement, press, and working with our supporters and the wider public. As well as delivering currently planned campaign outputs, the role will provide scope for creative work and the development of new projects, ideas and tactics within the aviation workstream.

We’d love to hear from people with experience (paid or voluntary) of developing or delivering campaigns and public engagement centred on fairness, whether that’s climate justice, tax campaigning, or social justice work. Previous experience of aviation or transport campaigning is very much not essential, as we can support you to get up to speed on that.

The basics

We work with a trauma-informed, survivor led framework with intersectional feminism at the core.
The Tower Hamlets Domestic Abuse Service provides emergency accommodation to women and children fleeing domestic and sexual violence. As a refuge support worker you will provide emotional and practical support, such as legal options, housing, benefits and signposting.
You will risk assess and develop safety and support plans with survivors at the centre.
The role is 16 hours per week

This is a fixed term contract until May 2026 with possibility of extension

What you'll do:
* Manage customer referrals, completing Dash Risk Assessments and obtaining and maintaining all relevant paperwork
* Building supportive, trusting relationships with customers and creating a positive atmosphere.
* Oversee On Track implementation from an operational perspective during the initial upload of cases to ensure that any issues are highlighted to management.
* Conducting regular Keyword sessions with each survivor.

As Legal Counsel, you will provide high-quality, pragmatic legal advice across a broad range of charity, commercial, contract and regulatory matters.

About you

To be successful, it is important that you demonstrate the following:

• Qualified lawyer in England and Wales (or equivalent jurisdiction) with post-qualification experience advising independently on a broad range of commercial, contract and/or charity law matters.
• Experience in at least 1 of the following areas: general corporate / commercial / contract, regulatory compliance, charity / not-for-profit.
• An understanding of:
  • the UK charity regulatory framework; and
  • the UK's bribery and anti-terrorism laws and practice, including the way in which they may impact an international NGO.

The Advocacy Team Leader is a key operational leadership role responsible for the day-to-day delivery, coordination, and quality assurance of Respond’s specialist ISVA and advocacy services for autistic people and people with learning disabilities affected by sexual violence, trauma, or abuse. 

This role combines operational leadership, case allocation and triage, supervision and quality oversight, alongside holding a small caseload of complex cases. You will help ensure high-quality, trauma-informed, neurodiversity-affirming advocacy in line with ISVA national minimum standards, safeguarding requirements and contract outcomes. 

The Team Leader plays a central role in embedding trauma-informed, neurodiversity-affirming practice, supporting safe and reflective decision-making, and representing Respond in key operational and steering forums and working groups. And plays a vital role in building a culture of safe, accountable, and reflective practice and in ensuring advocacy services are delivered with care, consistency, and impact.

The role

This maternity cover role offers a meaningful opportunity to help secure the funding that makes our work possible at a pivotal point in Hatch’s journey.

Reporting to the Director of Fundraising & Engagement, you will lead the delivery of Trusts & Foundations, Statutory and Major Donor fundraising, while managing our inspiring partners, you will build new income pipelines aligned to Hatch’s pioneering programmes. You will also support the launch and early delivery of our three-year fundraising campaign.

Alongside hands-on fundraising, you will line manage, mentor and develop the Fundraising Manager, helping to build confidence, capability and strong, future-focused fundraising practice.

As Individual Giving Executive, you’ll play a key role in delivering a programme of stewardship, marketing and acquisition that has driven significant growth in recent years.

As we continue to utilise and test new channels and audiences, you’ll be using creativity and innovation to develop campaigns and communications to inspire people with this way of giving. By collaborating with colleagues from across the organisation and our trusted partners, you’ll be bold in delivering an impactful stewardship programme that nurtures our supporters’ consideration. You’ll take an equitable approach in sharing stories of people experiencing homelessness, to deepen our supporters’ engagement and bring them closer to our mission.

About you

We’re looking for an organised project-manager and ideally someone with experience of delivering communications to a mass audience and/or digital acquisition. You’ll be an excellent communicator, online and in print, and be comfortable having tactful conversations with our supporters.

As this role is temporary maternity cover, we’re looking for someone who can hit the ground running and get involved with multiple projects straight away. To be successful in this role you will:

• be an effective project-manager, adept at engaging and influencing stakeholders and fostering collaboration to achieve objectives
• enjoy thinking creatively and using storytelling to bring complex issues to life

You will be part of a highly skilled and supportive team committed to collaborative working and continuous learning. We are looking for a receptionist to work within the Harris Federation Head Office, undertaking Reception and other administrative duties within the CEO's team.

MAIN AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

Your responsibilities will include:

• Greeting and receiving all visitors to Head Office in a professional manner, ensuring compliance with safeguarding and Health & Safety protocols
