Our client is looking for an enthusiastic and proactive Community Gardening Coordinator to lead and develop their Growing Together project and support the ongoing coordination of their green spaces and outdoor community hub,
This exciting and varied role combines practical gardening and community development. You will use their green spaces as a tool to bring people together to improve wellbeing and create opportunities for people to connect with nature, their neighbours and the local community.
Working closely with our clients Investment Team and the Neighbourhood Network project, funded by the National Lottery Community Fund, you will coordinate a small team of freelance gardeners, nature-based practitioners, volunteers and community participants to ensure their outdoor spaces thrive and remain welcoming, inclusive environments for everyone.
This is a hands-on role that would suit someone who believes in the power of community, enjoys working outdoors, and understands how gardening and nature can create meaningful opportunities for engagement and personal growth.
About you
You’ll already have experience developing and leading community-based gardening projects. This will include planning, coordinating gardeners, volunteers and community groups whilst monitoring the project alongside managing budgets and reporting outcomes.
With a good understanding of Health and Safety and Asset-Based Community Development principles, you will be confident in delivering workshops and sessions within a small team, particularly in an outdoor environment.
You’ll also be comfortable coordinating freelancers, volunteers, and community groups, and be good at encouraging and motivating people outdoors.
You will be an ambassador for our cleints and their values, continually seeking ways to improve their services and maximise the positive impact of their community spaces.
The role will require occasional weekend and evening work, to run or support community events. Whilst the role is primarily based in Weston-super-Mare, you must have access to your own transport and be able to drive within the area in which our client operates.
The successful candidate will be subject to a satisfactory Enhanced DBS check.
