As our clients Head of Industrial Relations, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring that school and college leaders have a strong and influential voice in shaping their pay, conditions and working environment. Leading their industrial relations and collective bargaining function, you will help safeguard members' rights, secure positive outcomes through negotiation, and strengthen their position as the leading professional body and trade union for education leaders. Your expertise will directly contribute to improving the working lives of members across the UK while ensuring the organisation remains legally compliant, strategically focused and highly respected within the sector.
Who We’re Looking For
Our client is seeking an experienced industrial relations, trade union or HR professional with a proven track record of leading successful negotiations at a senior level. You will bring substantial experience of collective bargaining, strong leadership capabilities, and a deep understanding of employment relations within complex organisations. You'll be a strategic thinker, an influential communicator and a confident relationship-builder who can work effectively with employers, trade unions, members and external stakeholders. A commitment to trade union principles, combined with the credibility to work alongside experienced school and college leaders, will be essential to your success in this role.
What You’ll Be Doing
You will lead and develop the Industrial Relations team, ensuring the delivery of a high-quality, consistent service to members nationwide. Working closely with employer groups, trade unions and local representatives, you will oversee negotiations, represent members at key joint negotiating committees, resolve disputes, and help secure the best possible terms, conditions and benefits for members. You will also provide strategic advice across the organisation, ensure compliance with relevant legislation and trade union requirements, support the development of local representatives, and contribute to the organisation's broader industrial relations strategy.

This is a home-based role with travel across England and Wales to meetings and events as required. Reasonable travel expenses, IT and telephone equipment will be provided.

The Role
We are looking for an Advice & Guidance Officer who can make a meaningful difference in the lives of deaf children, young people, and their families.
A key focus of this role will be delivering the service remotely using technology. In addition, you will use your interpersonal skills and experience working with families to connect with local community groups, raise awareness of our services, promote membership, and provide support to families, deaf young people, and professionals.
This role is part time, based on 21 hours per week.
This is a fully remote role, but will have a focus on Central Scotland Casework and will require some regional travel so applicants should live in Scotland and possess a driving licence and have access to a car.
What you'll do
- Deliver tailored information and advice to individuals and groups of deaf children, young people, and their families.
- Support deaf children, young people, and their families in becoming more confident in articulating their needs independently.
- Help deaf children, young people, and their families explore their options and decide on a preferred course of action.
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with professionals and organisations that support deaf children.
- Attend both in-person and online events to provide information and advice tailored to different audiences.
What you'll need
- Significant experience and understanding of the skills and practices required to deliver person-centred support to children, young people, and their families.
- Experience providing information and advice to families and young people, both digitally and face-to-face.
- A strong working knowledge of education and special educational needs, including relevant legislation, government guidance, and local implementation.
- An understanding of deafness and its impact on children, family dynamics, raising a deaf child, and child development-translating this into effective, child-centred practice.
- Strong digital skills and a sound understanding of agile values & principles.
- A criminal record check / PVG Scheme Disclosure (if offered the position).

You'll manage and grow a portfolio of trust and foundation supporters and prospects, helping secure gifts between £5,000 and £50,000 to support Marie Curie's vital work.
- Build and develop relationships with grant-making trusts and foundations
- Research and identify new funding opportunities
- Write compelling funding applications, proposals, reports and donor communications
- Manage donor stewardship activities and cultivation opportunities
- Support and contribute to annual fundraising plans and targets
- Maintain accurate records and supporter information using our fundraising database
- Work collaboratively with fundraising, service delivery and finance colleagues across the charity
Key Criteria:
- Experience in trusts fundraising, account management, business development, partnerships or a similar relationship-focused role
- Strong written skills with the ability to create persuasive and engaging communications
- Confidence building relationships with a range of stakeholders, including senior contacts
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities
- A proactive approach and willingness to identify new opportunities
- A genuine enthusiasm for making an impact through fundraising and supporter engagement
