Role Summary
This position provides key support for the policy and research functions of the charity, in addition to collaborating on campaigns and public affairs work. You will be responsible for carrying out primary research relevant to the charity’s policy and research functions. You’ll be monitoring and collating new policy and research materials and contributing to public communications including report-writing, blog posts and social media activity. You’ll be providing input into strategic planning regarding policy and research activities. You’ll connect with researchers and policy people from other charities and from universities. Finally, you’ll be attending conferences and meetings on behalf of the charity.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
Policy

Support the P&RM, DR&PA and CEO in responding to public consultations, advising policymakers and working with national policy and research bodies as appropriate.

Represent the charity in meetings with policy partners where appropriate.

Attend policy and research conferences on behalf of the charity, providing feedback to the team on key learning and opportunities that arise.

Work with the SC&PA and DR&PA to draw up influencing strategies to target key stakeholders on policy priorities.

Research

Work with the P&RM to carry out research activities relevant to the policy and research functions of the charity; including collating and analysing data, and co-authoring reports for both internal and public purposes.

Work with the P&RM and the Communications and Marketing teams to produce engaging and accessible communication of research findings for a range of audiences.

Monitor and collate new policy and research materials, including research reports, policy documents and media activity. Work with the P&RM to produce internal reports where appropriate and to ensure the charity’s activities reflect and respond to the wider policy and research environment.

Work with the P&RM on external research projects funded by the charity, including support with assessing the quality of bids by external researchers.
Across both areas

Produce social media communications where relevant to policy and research. Work with colleagues across the Research and Public Affairs and Communications and Marketing teams to develop strategies for maximising impact, especially in digital communications.

Contribute to strategic planning by contributing to staff meetings, producing supporting materials and providing feedback on public affairs.

Responsibilities and Person Specification:
This role is an integral part of the day-to-day delivery of our Advice and Support Service, which has been re-shaped and is due to go live in the summer of 2024. The service is targeted at older people in or facing financial hardship, and provides information, advice and follow up support relating to a range of issues, including Welfare Benefits, Social Care and Housing.
As an Adviser (Health Social Care and Housing) you will be responsible for providing specialist support to older people, their families and carers through our advice service with their housing and social care enquiries as well as providing generalist level support on a range of issues through our duty service.
You should have in depth, specialist level knowledge of Health and Social Care or Housing (ideally both) as they relate to older people, experience of working within a high volume advice setting and advice supervision framework such as the AQS framework

Salary information:
Hybrid working in London: £32,682 per year, increasing to £33,600 after 6 months and £34,493 after 12 months Pro-rata if part-time
Homebased (with regular travel to London): £29,453 per year, increasing to £30,267 after 6 months and £31,054 after 12 months. Pro-rata if part-time.

The National Paralympic Heritage Trust (NPHT) has embarked on a new exciting five-year strategy – ‘Becoming Seamlessly Inclusive 2023-2028’. To help us on this journey, this is an exciting opportunity to join our team as the Trust’s ‘Volunteer and Trainee Support Officer’, a key role within our organisation. We are looking for someone who would enjoy supporting our volunteers and trainees and who can demonstrate good administration skills.

Background
The NPHT was formed in 2015 with the core purpose to ‘enlighten and inspire future generations by celebrating, cherishing and bringing the Paralympic heritage and its stories of human endeavour to life’ and in doing so, to challenge negative perceptions of disability. Our purpose is to celebrate, cherish and bring the heritage to life, in a compelling and evocative way, securing a legacy, feeding a growing public interest since London 2012, changing attitudes, and instilling national pride.
In our role as caretakers of one of the World’s most important disability history collections, the Paralympic movement, we aim to become, and help others become seamlessly inclusive. From 2023 to 2028 for every £2 we spend, we aim to positively broaden somebody’s understanding of disability and transcend heritage access.
In our first 5 years 2017 to 2022 we have reached over half a million people across the UK, and overseas (over 50% of our website visitors are from abroad representing 195 different nations), establishing an accredited museum and collection of international importance. Our learning programmes and digital engagement are recognised as providing ground-breaking access to D/deaf and disabled audiences.
Our purpose and moral responsibility is to continue to bring this unique British heritage to life, building awareness of Paralympic history, sport and the individuals involved in its development.

Role of the Volunteer and Trainee Support Officer:
1. Overall
1.1 To support and develop the volunteer and work placement programmes.
1.2 To practically support two of our trainees with neurodiversity.
2. Key Responsibilities
2.1 To oversee the volunteer programme with support from the Head of Programmes.
2.2 To manage the ‘access to work’ programmes.
2.3 To act as a work coach to the trainees, helping them deliver their work plans.
2.4 To support the ‘Learning Manager and Collections Engagement Officer’ with the provision of volunteers for their programmes of work.
2.5 To support the work placement’s programme and individuals completing them, by planning out the work in liaison across the team and helping the ‘Head of Programmes’ carry out the work.
2.6 To support the Trust’s community liaison.
2.7 To support other programmes of work as directed.
3. Meetings and reporting
3.1 The ‘Volunteer and Trainee Support Officer’will be employed by the National Paralympic Heritage Trust and be responsible to the Board of Trustees.
3.2 The ‘Volunteer and Trainee Support Officer’ will report to, be managed and supported by the ‘Head of Programmes’.
3.3 The ‘Volunteer and Trainee Support Officer will have monthly meetings with the ‘Head of Programmes reporting on progress and raising any areas of concern.
4. Period of Contract
4.1 May 2024 to the end of April 2026.
5. Contract fee/Pay
5.1 The proposed fee is £25,000 a year pro-rata - three days a week (24 hours).
5.2 In addition to the payment outlined above the ‘Volunteer and Trainee Support Officer’ will be paid reasonable agreed expenses incurred subject to the supply of receipts/travel expense claim. The post holder will also be eligible for a stakeholder pension.

Every day our team of fact checkers and campaigners find, check and challenge false claims. We identify the reasons for bad information, so we can campaign to change the systems that enable it. Job Definition
The Product Manager (Supporter Experience) is responsible for planning the digital strategy and executing the plan to deliver online content and campaigns that increase awareness of our work and drive the public to take action and donate to our cause.
You will manage multiple digital products and platforms, implementing data-driven improvements to ensure optimum usability and accessibility. Responsible for understanding and developing the user journey across digital touchpoints - as diverse as online advertising, campaigns and virtual events - you will advise on how best to improve the user experience and manage our content.
You will manage a multi disciplinary team of people who deliver our CRM, website, email campaigns, audience research and community initiatives.
Outcomes
In the first 6 months you’ll have the opportunity to coordinate the delivery of at least 3 campaigns that are designed to end deceptive campaign practices by political parties, improve regulation of political advertising and encourage MPs and Ministers to correct the record when they make a wrong or misleading claim. You’ll have access to new audience research data, and will use that to inform the work we do.
You’ll bring together a team of multi disciplinary experts to deliver on our campaigning aims. You’ll work with them to develop our website, CRM and mailing list to have the greatest impact, ensuring we have the right data to make good decisions.

About the role

About the Role
As a Data Officer at Myeloma UK, you will be supporting the charity as we implement a brand-new data strategy. About the role

First Step Trust (FST) is a registered charity providing access to work experience and employment opportunities for people (referred to as workforce) with mental health challenges, learning disabilities, a history of offending and other socio-economic disadvantages, with a key aim to provide opportunities for people who are not in Education, Employment or Training (NEET).
The charity currently operates a garage and a catering business, both focused on providing real-life work experience for these learners. In recent years, FST has been exploring new ways of helping people overcome barriers to learning including, low levels of literacy/numeracy and debilitating anxiety in formal situations e.g. exams or interviews.
Through FST's ground breaking work using Virtual Reality (VR) to upskill our workforce members and engage learners in secure mental health facilities, we have recognised the potential of assistive and emerging technologies as a real game-changer for the people we work with. The technology enables us to do things never before possible. We have, with the support of Halfords Autocentres and the Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI), developed an innovative programme which offers high quality training in a safe environment that does not require any written work.
This led us to identify the need for new ways of enabling and 'scaffolding' learning that will combat some of the wider psychosocial barriers including 'fear of learning', the impact of e.g. learning disabilities, Autism, negative peer pressure and reoffending behaviours. A recent Resolution Foundation report suggests that current "low rates of training among the least educated are troubling, given international evidence showing that there are higher returns to adult education for these individuals." Research suggests that AI/ machine learning could help us overcome these.
We have been supported by two Ufi VocTech Trust grants to deliver VR supported training to these communities of learners furthest away from learning and work. The route to market for our products is into the automotive industry directly, but is also being commissioned by NHS and criminal justice/mental health services as a way to introduce those in secure environments to potential future work opportunities.
These digital developments form part of the charity's strategy for embracing digital innovation to better serve our client base and grow the market we are able to serve beyond those in our local areas.

Prosper Wakefield District is a charity and the largest independent grant maker in the Wakefield district, working to help people to live longer healthier lives.

We want to recruit an experienced Comms Officer to help us shout about our amazing work, and the positive difference we are making to the lives of so many people across the Wakefield district.

Our new Comms Officer will help ensure our grant-making activities have the maximum impact; they will develop and drive our communications strategy and raise awareness of Prosper’s purpose with our wider partners.
Job Title: Communications Officer
Location: The office is based at 35 Peterson Road, Wakefield, WF1 4DU. The role will allow for some flexibility in hybrid & remote working, subject to agreement with your line manager. The role may require some travel within the Yorkshire and Humber region.
Hours: 21 – 35 hours. The role can be delivered on either a P/T basis (minimum of 21 hrs) or F/T of 35 hrs (generally 9.30am to 5.30pm Monday to Friday). The role can also be delivered on a Job Share basis. The role will require occasional working outside normal hours.
Benefits: 28 days paid holiday p.a. (pro-rata for P/T hrs). Pension contribution. Flexible working.
Length of contract: Fixed term contract for 2 years with the potential to become a permanent post.
Reports to: Philanthropy and Partnerships Manager
Liaising with: CEO, Prosper Charity Administrator, Trustees of the charity, wider partners.
Salary band: £29,000- £32,000 (pro-rata for P/T hrs) depending on experience and qualifications.

PROSPER COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER: JOB DESCRIPTION
The Communications Officer is a vital member of the organisation. As we experience unprecedented growth, we are looking for someone who shares our excitement and is ready to contribute to the next chapter of the charity’s journey.
Our Communications Officer will play a key role in promoting our mission, engaging supporters, and raising crucial funds to enhance our grant programmes. You will be at the forefront of promoting the impact of our grants; you will be engaged with our communities and partners, to create compelling and exciting content that resonates with our audiences. This role offers a unique opportunity to blend your marketing and communications skills to raise awareness, drive fundraising efforts and showcase our work.

Main duties of the job
Your role centres on shaping the charity's influential presence in the district and the wider region. You will:
· Develop a Marketing and Communications Strategy and deliver the charity’s communication and marketing plans, work closely with all team members to advise on the key narratives, best modes of communications and the target audiences.
· Provide strategic advice and guidance on communications to the Chief Executive and trustees.
· Produce high quality written and visual content for all communication channels.
· Create compelling content that evidences the social impact of our grants.
· Liaise with beneficiaries to gather stories and case studies showing how grants have been used, how they have made a difference. Share best practice via the website and through blogs and images.
· Update and develop the website and take responsibility for the content and upkeep.
· Manage our social media platforms (Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram) and report on analytics.
· Ensure that digital marketing content aligns with Prosper’s brand identity and message.
· Look for new ways to raise our profile through social media, press and other forms of communication.
· Develop networking relationships with local, regional, and national press, and via partner’s websites, to share funding stories.
· Design any marketing materials and liaise with suppliers with regards printing.
· Produce a monthly e-newsletter to be delivered to stakeholders.
· Co-ordinate events and other promotional activities.
· Work alongside the Philanthropy and Partnerships Manager to engage with businesses and charities.
· Arrange for staff, trustees, and other stakeholders to take part in site visits to beneficiaries.
· Represent the charity at the Wakefield Funders Forum and Yorkshire Funders Forum and seek other networking opportunities.
- Build and maintain excellent working relationships with a range of key stakeholders including grants beneficiaries, trustees, funding partners, third sector leaders, health and statutory partners, elected members, and politicians.
- Facilitate effective internal communication within the organisation.
- Keep staff and trustees informed about key developments, events, and achievements.
· Other tasks, commensurate with the post, that the Chief Executive and Philanthropy & Partnerships Manager may deem appropriate (including occasional support for work that cuts across other areas of the charity’s work)
Person Specification
· Familiarity with the charity sector
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Proficient in digital marketing tools and platforms, including social media management.
· An understanding of performance evaluation tools such as Google Analytics.
· Knowledge of, and skills in, social media management, with a focus on increasing reach and engagement.
· Experience of using Canva.
· Knowledge of communications, public relations, journalism and marketing communications techniques, approaches, and procedures
· Knowledge of using WordPress or similar to update the website and create new content.
· Ability to work collaboratively and independently, managing multiple projects simultaneously.
· Passion for the charity's mission and values.
· Must be able to work out of normal office hours when required.
· Must have a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
