• Are you over 18 and living in the UK? You must be over the 18 years of age and live permanently in the UK.
• Do you have a mobile phone or laptop? You can do this role whether you are, whether it be on a sofa or on a plane.
• How much time can you give? As much as you want to do. We are flexible and like to work around you.
• Do you like to learn? We provide training for all volunteers that join us. You'll have access to our CPD courses to help you advance your knowledge and certificates to add to your CV.

How does it work?

In 2025 we launched our arm chair volunteering initiative to help us spread the word about our service and to give people the opportunity to take part in surveys and projects to help us deliver the best mental health support to the UK public.

We'd like to embrace what you love doing, whether that be sharing on socials, proof reading, surveys, sharing experiences or getting involved in our fabulous projects.

Important information:

In order to volunteer for knus as an ambassador, you will need to complete a brief application form and a ID check. A DBS is not required for this role, however, if you wish to progress to another role you may need a disclosure. We do this to ensure of service remains a safe place to volunteer for all. Please do not worry about this, we will help you as much as we can.

Training is provided by us and our training partners. You will be required to attend this training using online conferencing software such as zoom or teams.

Chatterbox Befrienders offer one-to-one telephone support and will call a client once a week offering companionship and a listening ear for an individual who might otherwise go unheard. Chatterbox volunteers befriend a variety of people including carers, socially isolated individuals who are struggling with loneliness, people with ill health and those that have been bereaved.

This role could be for you, if you:

Requirements of a Befriender include:

• Calling your client once a week for a chat of up to 45 minutes; this is a 26 week initial commitment, at the end of which each client’s needs are reviewed
• Completing an online call log record promptly after each phone call
• Ensuring immediate contact with the Chatterbox Coordinators if you feel that the client might be a risk to themselves or others
• Liaising with the Chatterbox Coordinator on a regular basis regarding the service, as well as discussing personal learning and development needs
• Respecting service standards, appropriate boundaries and recognising the range of policies and procedures that impact on befriending vulnerable adults

We’re seeking a Volunteer Project Manager to lead and coordinate our Grants & Finance Team, helping us access essential funding and manage financial resources to support life-changing programmes.

What You’ll Do:

• Lead and manage the Grants & Finance Department

• Coordinate and chair monthly team meetings

• Identify and apply for funding opportunities, managing deadlines and submissions

• Track team tasks, monitor progress, and ensure timelines and reporting requirements are met

• Align funding applications with the organisation’s goals and strategic priorities

• Support with financial oversight, including budgeting and expenditure monitoring

• Occasionally attend in-person meetings, if preferred or feasible

Qualifications & Experience:

• Experience in finance or money management is essential

• Bid writing experience is desirable but not essential

We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated individual to take on the role of Community First Aid Network Leader who can work and lead volunteering groups and leaders in their own way, supported by our central teams

At St John Ambulance, we are looking to embed ourselves within our communities, delivering support which is tailored to the needs of those communities whilst providing a positive experience for our Volunteers.

We need leaders who are passionate about making a difference in their communities, who care about helping and developing others, who will lead and inspire a volunteer movement across a geographical area to deliver Community First Aid, Community Education and Community Fundraising as well as develop our offering for young people. Through leading a team of Volunteer leaders, you will drive excellence in delivery, develop an inclusive and diverse volunteering experience for new and current volunteers, and help navigate through change to build a bigger and better St John Ambulance.

Bright Futures UK are looking for warm and energetic volunteer tutors to provide educational support in a range of subjects, from Primary to A-Level,  and a fun, safe space for young people living with serious illness.

Do you live in Wales and want to gain valuable skills, have new experiences, and support vulnerable people?

We are offering 1 young person aged 18-25 the opportunity to volunteer for up to 11 months with the Portuguese Red Cross in Sanguedo, Portugal. Placements dates are planned to start as soon as possible for: August 2025 – July 2026 (subject to visas).

You will be supporting projects aimed at helping the local community and promoting youth involvement in social and environmental activities, which will give you the chance to explore the different kinds of social action that the Portuguese Red Cross undertake in Sanguedo. This is a great opportunity to get involved in these projects and find out what you are interested in. The main thing we want to see is your motivation for this placement!

Typical tasks may involve:

• Assisting the Social department: by supporting Social Centre activities such as assisting teachers with activities for children aged 3 to 5, befriending and developing activities for elderly service users and attending classes at the Senior University.
• Assisting the animal care department: liaising with different organisations involved in animal care (shelters, zoo and farm); assist in cleaning spaces and the animals, provide food and other necessities, as required.
• Supporting promotion and administration activities: the branch offers a wide range of the activities to the local community, and volunteers will take a lead in promoting these activities and volunteering overall to increase youth social participation. Volunteers will also assist with administrative tasks including sorting donations, and gifting or selling activities.

Please note that only young people based in Wales can apply for this role. Interviews will take place online with shortlisted candidates. 

We are keen to hear from individuals especially those who do not normally get the chance to volunteer overseas, who are passionate and motivated about working in the humanitarian sector and international volunteering but who also understand that these types of placements require adaptability and resilience.
