Talkthru is a specialist counselling charity based in Huddersfield, offering free, confidential support to individuals and families affected by pregnancy loss, baby loss and other birth-related trauma.

Our Board of Trustees oversees Talkthru’s strategic direction, governance, and financial health, ensuring that we remain sustainable, ethical, and effective. This is where you come in.

Role Purpose

As a Trustee, you will share collective responsibility for the governance and strategic leadership of Talkthru. Trustees ensure that the charity fulfils its mission, operates lawfully and ethically, and maintains the trust of clients, donors, and the wider community.

We are particularly keen to welcome a Trustee with a legal background to strengthen the Board’s expertise in governance, compliance, and risk management. This person will help ensure the charity’s operations, policies, and services comply with relevant laws, including charity law, counselling practice standards, safeguarding, and data protection.

Key Responsibilities

Hosting & Interviewing

• Conduct emotionally intelligent and engaging interviews

• Create a safe, respectful, and comfortable environment for guests

• Guide meaningful conversations around lived experiences, healing, trauma, growth, transformation, and truth-telling

• Represent the platform professionally and compassionately

Story & Guest Development

• Identify and connect with potential guests and storytellers

• Build relationships with survivors, advocates, community voices, and inspiring individuals

• Help develop compelling story ideas and conversation themes

• Collaborate with outreach and production teams where stories are already sourced

Outdoor & Field-Based Filming

• Conduct interviews in natural or visually meaningful environments

• Ensure recordings are captured clearly and professionally

• Use high-quality smartphones or filming equipment where available

• Pay attention to lighting, sound quality, environment, and presentation

Examples of locations may include:

• beaches,

• riversides,

• forests,

• rooftops,

• mountain settings,

• parks,

• countryside locations,

• or culturally meaningful community spaces.

Community Representation

• Act as a positive representative of the platform and mission

• Build trust and connection within communities

• Help create conversations that encourage awareness, healing, empowerment, and education

Equipment & Requirements

Hosts should ideally have access to:

• Minimum a high-quality smartphone with strong video capability

• Reliable internet and communication access

• Basic understanding of lighting and filming environments

• Confidence communicating on camera and in public environments

Professional filming experience is welcomed but not required.

Authenticity, emotional intelligence, and communication ability are more important than perfection.

Ref: V268 | Advisory Group Member | Northern Ireland

We’re looking for three Advisory Group Member Volunteers over the age of 18 years old, based in Northern Ireland.

You would need to commit to at least three quarterly meetings per year, and other ad hoc sub-group meetings and events as requested.

We are particularly Interested in applications from individuals with lived experience and skills or knowledge in income generation, communications, commissioning or rehabilitation.

Our Advisory Group normally meets in Belfast; however, events can be anywhere in Northern Ireland and meetings can be joined remotely. Travel expenses will be covered. 

The volunteer will be

· Someone with the skills and expertise to advise Northern Ireland’s senior management team on organisational strategy, operational planning, influencing the Stormont government, income generation and the external environment.

· A people person with good listening skills

· A great communicator who enjoys meeting new people

· Reliable and organised

· Passionate about supporting people affected by stroke

Role Summary

If you have a senior financial background and a passion for global justice and disability inclusion, we’d love to hear from you. The role will serve on both our Board and our Finance and Audit Committee. Experience working with UK charities, either in finance, governance or audit, is desirable, but not essential. The role would suit an experienced Trustee, or someone considering their first Trustee role. This role will oversee the charity’s financial performance and position, financial governance, and investment management.

The Army Cadet Charitable Trust UK (ACCT UK) is a 96-year-old national youth charity dedicated to improving the life chances of young people and is the official charity supporting the national youth movement known as the Army Cadet Force (ACF). We help disadvantaged young people access the opportunities and benefits available in the Army Cadet programme and, through doing so, enable them to develop and achieve their own potential. We provide grants both to individual cadets and cadet counties so that they can train, go on camps, and learn valuable new skills that will benefit them well into their adult lives. We also support the adult volunteers who deliver the training and whose support is vital to the work of the Army Cadets.

ABOUT THE ROLE
The Finance specialist trustee will be an important member of ACCT UK’s Board. You would be part of our team of trustees overseeing the strategic direction of ACCT UK to ensure that it achieves its charitable objects with the particular role of monitoring its financial management. Our charity is financially secure and stable, nevertheless we are looking for an additional trustee with finance experience to work in partnership with the charity’s Treasurer (Chair of the Finance and General Purposes Committee) in monitoring the work of the Charity’s finance team, thus providing fellow board trustees with financial insight and reassurance. We would say it, wouldn’t we (!), but we think you would really enjoy being a trustee and also find it hugely satisfying and rewarding. A fuller description of the role is at Annex A.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
We are seeking a volunteer with a strong professional track record in finance or accountancy, who can provide senior level oversight on our Finance and General Purposes Committee. You will have an understanding of best practice in financial
reporting, controls and governance. A background in charity finance is not essential but would be advantageous. We are seeking a Trustee with sound judgement, the highest professional standards and integrity and strong communication skills who would enjoy contributing to the overall governance of the charity. This role would suit someone with a finance background looking for their first trustee position or who has been a Treasurer for a smaller charity and is not looking for a larger Treasurer role at this time.

TENURE
Once elected as a trustee, you will be asked to serve for a three-year term, following which by mutual agreement you could be elected for a further three-year term.
On election you will have a probationary period of 3 to 4 months depending on your joining date and dates of board meetings and committee group meetings. In the probationary period you should attend one board meeting and at least two committee meetings as a trustee. This will give you an insight into the work done by trustees and the commitment required to be a trustee and will allow both the board and you to assess whether this role is suitable for you. You will have full trustee voting rights during the probationary period.

Who are Dance Professionals Fund? 

Dance Professionals Fund is an award-winning registered CIO providing financial and wellbeing support to dancers, dance teachers and choreographers. Our dedicated services bring together a range of effective ways of supporting dance professionals, including financial grants, signposting to support services, injury rehabilitation, career upskilling support and access to professional counselling. Dance professionals will receive holistic support from us whatever their situation. 

Role Description 

We are seeking trustees to join us from January 2027 for an initial term of three years.We are looking for a range of skills and experience, including: 

• Experience and/or specialism in commercial dance or street dance

• A recreational dance teacher and/or owner of a dance school 

• Background/experience in finance in a senior role or on a charity Board 

• Experience within a benevolent fund as either as staff or trustee

• Background in legal expertise, in a senior role or on a charity Board 

• Strong communication skills, comprehensive networking experience 

We welcome applications from anyone who is passionate about helping the Dance Professionals Fund achieve its objectives. Full trustee training will be provided.

The Coroners' Courts Support Service (CCSS) is a registered Charity whose trained volunteers give emotional and practical support to bereaved families and other witnesses attending an inquest.

We need volunteers to provide emotional support and practical help to bereaved families, witnesses and others attending Inquests at Coroners' Court. Our volunteers at court also provide help and assistance to the Coroners' Officers, as and when required.

We are looking for reliable, supportive people with excellent communication skills. A mature and calm attitude is needed in order to be able to talk to people during a sometimes bewildering and emotional experience. Volunteers must be willing to undergo a period of observations and shadowing, as well as attend a 3 day training course. A minimum of 2 court days per month attendance requiured. Training and mentoring is provided and travel expenses to the court are reimbursed.

New volunteers should possess good communication and listening skills and the ability to empathise with people they support.
