We’re passionate about what we do, and love giving second-hand clothing a chance of going to a good home. Our shop teams are key to raising vital funds for our work and act as incredible advocates for the rights of children both in the UK and around the world.

Volunteering in the shop

The Chester Shop is a beautiful community hub with two floors of creativity and vintage treasures!

Our Chester Shop Volunteers are in the middle of it all, and there’s plenty to get involved with. You might be sorting and pricing stock, engaging with customers, ringing items through the till, creating fantastic window displays or keeping our shop floor looking organised.

It’s up to you how much you commit. We have volunteers who support for a couple of hours a week and some do more. Many people volunteer either a morning or an afternoon each week - this is something that will be discussed at the selection stage, after you’ve applied.

What happens next?

After you’ve filled in an application, we will invite you for an informal trial shift. It’s a great opportunity to visit the shop, meet some of our existing volunteers and have a go at some of the tasks that you would be supporting with as a shop volunteer. Hopefully allowing you to get a feel for the role and make sure it’s for you. We also ask for a couple of references (these don’t have to be formal workplace ones, just someone who has known you for over 6 months and isn’t related).

We are looking for friendly and enthusiastic volunteers to support our team across Cardiff in organising events, activities, clubs and fundraising days!

If you would like to make a difference and make new friends along the way, we would love to hear from you! 
 
Activities will include 

• Attending and assisting with the logistics of events; this can include setting up, clearing down, selling raffle tickets and refreshments, directing traffic and helping the people we support enjoy the atmosphere of the day

• Helping to arrange and attend; friendship groups, coffee catch ups, creative craft sessions and much more 

• Offering ideas for fundraising or fun things to do! 

• Liaising with Dimensions Community Connections Officer

• Being there for company, friendship and fun to the people we support 

 
You will have the flexibity to choose activities that are of most interest to you. 

About you

A DBS check and two character references will be required for this role.

We’re looking for three Support Group Volunteer over the age of 18 years old, based in Scotland.

You’ll be volunteering fortnightly Thursday between 10:30am and 11:30am plus additional time for volunteer team meetings and training.

As a support group volunteer, you will help with the running of the group. The role is designed to suit the needs of the group, and the skills of people offering support. If you enjoy getting to know your community, working with others and making a real difference then this is the role for you.

The volunteer will be

· A people person, with good listening skills

· A great communicator who enjoys meeting new people

· Good at putting people at ease

· Reliable and organised

· Passionate about supporting people affected by stroke

· IT literate, have good administrative and record keeping skills and be able to follow relevant policies

A protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) check is required for this role.

We’re looking for friendly, community minded volunteers to help make sure people across our area can easily find information about Dorothy House. By placing leaflets, posters and resources in the right places, you’ll help more people learn about the care and support we offer. You can also help by attending events such as local fairs, markets, small gatherings and networking meetings. You’ll be part of the team that brings our message directly to the public.

This role is incredibly valuable — every leaflet placed in the right spot helps someone feel more informed, supported, or connected.

Your friendly presence helps people learn about our work, ask questions, and feel connected to the care we provide. It’s a simple but powerful way to support fundraising and raise awareness across our community.

What you will be doing

• Distributing Dorothy House leaflets and posters in local shops, cafés, community venues and NHS settings
• Keeping an eye out for new places where information could be displayed and letting us know where Dorothy House is underrepresented so we can improve our reach
• Building light, friendly relationships with staff and community contacts
• Feeding back anything useful you notice while out and about
• Attending community events, fairs, markets, and local gatherings
• Supporting Dorothy House information stalls
• Chatting to members of the public, answering simple questions, sharing how they can support our work and passing on anything requiring further follow up
• Working alongside staff and other volunteers to make events run smoothly

We are seeking an inspirational Chair of Trustees and a Vice Chair to lead Studio Upstairs into its next exciting chapter.

This pivotal role requires integrity, compassion, and strategic vision to ensure our much-loved arts and mental health charity fulfils its charitable objectives, maintains the highest standards of governance, and continues to thrive as a respected and trusted organisation.

The Board of Trustees plays a vital role by steering and supporting the charity development. 

We are seeking to appoint a Chair,Vice Chair or initially to join the board as a Trustee.. The Studio Upstairs Board is drawn from a diverse range of backgrounds and has a variety of skills. To complement the current Board, we would envisage that the Chair had a wide experience of running organisations and a particular interest in the charity sector. We are keen to hear from candidates with skills in the areas of Corporate Governance and Business Development ie: Charity Financial Management, Partnership working or Fundraising as well as those within Digital Technologies, Health or Legal expertise.

Studio Upstairs exists to transform lives through creativity. We have branches in Bristol and London. We are a trusted arts and mental health charity offering open studios and a creative community. We help people overcome challenges through therapeutic art practice and supportive peer interaction.

In addition to the full board meetings  there may be occasional committee meetings or meetings of specific task groups. It is expected that the Chair will also maintain regular contact with the Managing Director and other Board members.

The Board Meetings are to be held four to six times a year in London (currently online).

Volunteer with us!

At Acorns we provide care and support for life limited or life threatened children and their families. We are a charity, so most of the care that we provide is funded through fundraising and through our shops.

To help us to continue to provide the care that we do, we are looking for fun and enthusiastic volunteers to join us in our Acorns charity shops. Our shops are exciting and dynamic, with no two days being the same. From our walk-in customers, to receiving donations, and everything in between!

As a Shop Volunteer with us, you will be:

• Engaging with customers
• Accepting and sorting donated stock
• Pricing donations for sale
• Working on the till

Acocks Green shop is open Monday to Saturday 9am to 5pm and Sunday 9.30am to 4.30pm. You can volunteer the hours that suit you, but it would be great if you could support in the shop for at least 3 hours a week.

We are currently unable to accept any Duke of Edinburgh participants or individuals under the age of 18 at this time.

Cats Protection in Poole are looking for a Volunteer Cashier in our charity shop.

Ideally you'll enjoy fashion, and the fun of a charity shop - you'll help shoppers find hidden gems. You'll help keep us looking beautiful - maintaining the shop floor, filling up our clothing rails, and using your creativity to help create exciting displays. You'll also be meeting our customers and helping them shop, as well as our kind donors, supporters, and cat-lovers!

Your kindness and hard work will help us care for cats and kittens in the Dorset area, with links to our Ferndown homing centre.

Full training will be provided, so experience is not necessary - but enthusiasm is a must!

We are looking for volunteers to join the food bank team. This could include warehouse volunteering, being a driver's mate, administration or volunteering at supermarket collections. There are multiple roles available, from as little as 1 hour a day.

Bristol Memory Walk is back for 2026, and so are our amazing volunteering opportunities. Memory Walk is so much more than a sponsored walk. Every year thousands of people come together to remember and bring hope for a brighter future.  It will take a society to beat dementia and by volunteering at Memory Walk you can be a part of it.

This is a walk like no other; this is thousands of people walking for a better future for those with dementia. Join the volunteer team on Saturday 3rd October at Lloyds Amphitheatre, in Bristol. 

There is something for everyone, with roles based in the event site and along the route. Be part of an unforgettable event experience as you cheer at a marshal point, follow the route as a back marker, sell some goodies or congratulate walkers with their finish line medal. You will have the opportunity to pair up with a friend or another volunteer and we’ll make sure you have everything you need!
