Overview

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic volunteer to join our Communications and Marketing team of volunteer professionals.

We are looking to appoint someone who has 7 or more years of professional experience in either Communications and Marketing and who has some experience of leading or / and managing a team in a Communications and Marketing environment.

Reports to: Head of Communications & Marketing 

Core duties and responsibilities

• To take part in department wide management and leadership activities
• To provide practical assistance to the Head of Department
• To support the planning of department activities
• To take on line management roles as assigned
• To provide effective supervision and guidance to other volunteers as delegated
• To work with the Head of Department to support progress and performance in relation to departmental activities to be undertaken
• To oversee departmental tasks
• To provide support and additional capacity with regards to progress of departmental relevant tasks

Requirements

• At least 7 or more years of relevant experience.
• Some experience (ideally 2 or more years) of managing or leading a team.
• To have some understanding of managing volunteers.
• Excellent writing and communication skills.
• IT literacy with own equipment (laptop and phone)
• Ability to work well in a team.
• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
• Ability to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively.
• Previous volunteering experience or experience in any kind of start up desirable
• Right to volunteer in the UK

Role: Volunteer Facilities Assistant

Location: Our office in Peterborough Kings Chambers, 39-41 Priestgate, Peterborough PE1 1JL

Hours: At least one half-day per week (flexible)

We ask for volunteers to commit to at least 6 months and give notice of planned absences so cover can be arranged.

About the role:

This position will give you the opportunity to witness and learn first-hand about the work that goes on behind the scenes to support the delivery of our services and will provide you with the opportunity to be a part of a dynamic organisation with strong guiding values and a determination to make a difference.

The Volunteer Facilities Assistant will support the IT and Facilities Coordinator to ensure the smooth running of the Peterborough office and to support the delivery of high-quality services.

Building Maintenance

• Help deal with all minor repairs and maintenance requirements at our office in Peterborough.
• Ensure that the building security is maintained and that the relevant maintenance checks are performed
• Ensure the building is organised and tidy

Health and Safety  

• Ensure that Health & Safety requirements are met
• Ensure Fire Safety requirements are met, including carrying out regular checks to fire alarm, emergency lights and fire extinguishers

General Admin

• Order and distribute stationery and other supplies

Ensure post and other deliveries are opened and distributed to relevant staff members

Commitment

• Attendance at our induction training and completion of relevant mandatory online training
• Agree to complete an Enhanced DBS check
• Have a good line of clear communication 
• Adherence to CPSL Mind’s Code of Conduct and policies and procedures

The recruitment process involves:

• Completion of application form, providing references
• Informal meeting with Peer and Volunteer Manager
• Attending induction with Peer and Volunteer Manager along with completion of relevant online mandatory training
• Additional training will be offered when it becomes available.

Our fundraising team leaders have the exciting and varied role of inspiring our fundraising volunteers to plan and deliver local fundraising events. Using their passion and imagination, they oversee a small team of fundraising volunteers who come together to raise the vital funds needed to cover costs such as veterinary bills and food. Our fundraising team leaders support their team of volunteers in all aspects of their roles, making sure our volunteers are happy, confident and supported. Activities include:

· Supporting and encouraging a team of fundraising volunteers

· Planning fundraising events and activities with your team

· Allocating tasks before and during fundraising events

· Keeping financial records from fundraising events

· Encouraging and promoting a professional image of Cats Protection 

· Following policies and guidelines and ensuring licences and permits are obtained for events

You will develop new skills, expand your knowledge and make a significant contribution to improving the lives of cats and kittens by helping raise funds and awareness through organising local events. You will also meet new people, make new friends and be part of a dedicated team of volunteers. You will be supported and guided from our National Cat Centre and through our regional and local volunteer groups and teams. We offer engaging online and face-to-face training, expenses and have policies and processes to help volunteers get the most out of their time with us.

We're looking for someone with the following:

· Great people skills and the ability to bring out the best in others

· Excellent organisational skills

· The ability to prioritise and delegate

· An appreciation of the importance of handling money and charity resources responsibly

· Fine-tuned communication skills and a passion for engaging with people within your local community

· Basic IT skills to use Cats Protection systems - training and support can be provided

· Committee volunteers need to be aged 18+

Our fundraising team leaders usually spend three to four hours per week in this role, which is flexible and can be shared by more than one volunteer if needed.
