Volunteering in the shop

Mary's Living & Giving for Save the Children is unique - a vibrant result of the generous gifts of local individuals and companies being turned around by the skills and passions of volunteer teams, to create a destination retail experience. Selling womenswear, menswear, shoes, and bags to household goods, our shops can be found in the London villages and bring in vital funds for Save the Children.

Our East Dulwich Shop Volunteers are in the middle of it all, and there’s plenty to get involved with. You might be sorting and pricing stock, engaging with customers, ringing items through the till, creating fantastic window displays or keeping our shop floor looking organised.

It’s up to you how much you commit. We have volunteers who support for a couple of hours a week and some do more. Many people volunteer either a morning or an afternoon each week - this is something that will be discussed at the selection stage, after you’ve applied. We would also love to hear from people willing to volunteer on Sundays.

What happens next?

After you’ve filled in an application, we will invite you for an informal trial shift. It’s a great opportunity to visit the shop, meet some of our existing volunteers and have a go at some of the tasks that you would be supporting with as a shop volunteer. Hopefully allowing you to get a feel for the role and make sure it’s for you. We also ask for a couple of references (these don’t have to be formal workplace ones, just someone who has known you for over 6 months and isn’t related).

We are a well‑established and successful local charity supporting vulnerable people, and we’ve just celebrated our 30th anniversary. As we continue to grow, we’re looking for a Volunteer Administrator to support our work at this exciting moment in our development.

You will be joining an incredibly supportive team of staff, volunteers and trustees, many of whom have been here for more than 10 years, working towards our shared mission to enhance the quality of life for our beneficiaries.

Your role

Brigstowe is seeking a Volunteer Administrator to support our reception and office administration on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Hours: flexible, ranging from one half-day to two full days per week, to be worked on Tuesdays and/or Thursdays

The role will include: 

• Front-of-house reception duties, which involves welcoming our clients and showing them to meetings with staff (we work with vulnerable people who are sometimes destitute or in crisis, but you will be supported with this)
• Answering phone calls and transferring calls to colleagues, and sometimes taking difficult calls or new client referrals
• Making phone calls to clients to gather their feedback on our services
• General office administration, including data entry and record‑keeping
• Admin for our peer support group – calling members of the group, recording attendance and client feedback, and helping to organise events throughout the year

You will be supervised and supported by Brigstowe’s full-time Executive Assistant. Full induction will be provided, along with ongoing training opportunities. In return, we require a minimum commitment of six months.

About us

For 30 years, Brigstowe has been a lifeline for people living with HIV, especially those facing barriers: refugees, asylum seekers, LGBTQ+ communities, as well as people with no safe place to disclose. We’ve mentored hundreds, advised thousands, and supported hundreds more who have struggled with life, and we’ve trained hundreds of public-facing professionals.

We support anyone living with or affected by HIV in Bristol and the surrounding areas through a comprehensive and holistic range of services, including advice and support, peer support groups and peer mentoring. We also provide sexual health promotion and outreach services.

We pride ourselves on treating our clients with respect and dignity, with the highest regard for confidentiality. We work hard to ensure that our award-winning services are accessible, person-centred, non-judgmental, professional and of a high quality.

About you

You are an enthusiastic team player who enjoys keeping things running smoothly behind the scenes so that the support staff can focus on their clients. You enjoy supporting people from all backgrounds, and you will be using your skills to directly support vulnerable people in the community.

The role would suit someone with some administrative experience who is comfortable with IT and Microsoft Office programmes (mainly Excel and Word). You will be working in the office alongside our committed and supportive staff team, gaining experience in a rewarding charity setting.

Hours: flexible, ranging from one half-day to two full days per week, to be worked on Tuesdays and/or Thursdays

Commitment: We ask for a minimum commitment of six months

What you’ll be doing

We’re on the lookout for a People Executive to join our busy people-first HR Team. This role is equivalent to a HR Assistant/HR Generalist position. A mid-level role, this is a great opportunity to enter into the world of HR, further your understanding of HR functions, and build your career as a HR professional.

In this role you will be:

• Taking ownership over our HRIS/HRM system, maintaining staff files, data, contracts and information in accordance with strict DPA/GPDR standar
• Working to issue, update and send out an array of HR correspondence from role offers, through to contracts through to outcome letters;
• ·Supporting our Leave of Absence system and process, screening leave requests, sending for departmental level approval and seeking medical evidence as required;
• Working on a patterned basis to monitor the People Team / People Services inbox, responding to queries, triaging and escalating more complicated queries to specialist colleauges;
• Note-taking meetings, investigations, disciplinaries and interviews as required;
• Supporting internal communication and culture through assisting with monthly staff newsletters, social events and reward events;
• ·Supporting with the development of industry leading Perks & Benefits including updating perks databases, discount codes and partner offers as required;
• Assisting with volume and specialist recruitment campaigns including posting job ads, longlisting candidates, shortlisting, and supporting interviews as required;
• Providing support and specialist advice to Line Managers, advocating and championing the highest standards of company policies and procedures;
•  Assisting with offboarding including exit interviews and leaver process;
• Ensuring consistency of devolved HR practices implemented by line managers, acting as a checkpoint/escalation point for complex cases

We’re now looking for a Volunteer Trustee with strong experience in special education to help guide and strengthen our specialist FE College.

What the role involves

In addition to the standard responsibilities of a trustee, you will:

• Focus on the delivery and development of post-16 education for learners with vision impairment and complex needs

• Scrutinise the quality of teaching and learning

• Provide constructive challenge and professional insight as part of our Education Advisory Committee

• Work closely with our College Principal to champion high-quality, person-centred education

This opportunity would suit someone with experience as:

• A senior leader within a SEND provision

Our Board meets seven times a year, with optional invitations to events and celebrations. Trustees are encouraged to attend in person, though online attendance is possible where needed. Travel expenses are covered, and overnight accommodation can be arranged for trustees living outside Devon.

As a fundraising volunteer, we will support you every step of the way to ensure your time at Cats Protection is a positive and rewarding one. Whatever time you can give really does make a big difference We have lots of exciting activities to choose from for example attending a fundraising event, fundraising online, promoting fundraising activities on social media, handling administrative tasks, or contributing to the development of new fundraising ideas. Role Summary

To bring our vision to life, you will play a key role in shaping how Roots Academy tells its story visually. As a Videographer, you will be responsible for capturing high-quality video content that supports our educational programs, strengthens our online presence, and helps our message resonate deeply with audiences across digital platforms.

Key Tasks

• Plan, film, and capture high-quality video content for social media, campaigns, events, interviews, and educational content.
• Work collaboratively with content leads, marketers, and editors to deliver video assets aligned with campaign goals.
• Set up and manage camera, audio, and lighting equipment as needed for shoots.
• Ensure all footage is captured in line with Roots Academy's visual style and brand guidelines.
• Organise, label, and maintain video files and footage libraries in shared drives.

ABOUT TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR FOUNDATION
Tottenham Hotspur Foundation is the charitable arm of Tottenham Hotspur Football Club. Using the power of sport, we work with local communities to improve physical health, mental wellbeing, education, and employment outcomes.

Through our Health & Wellbeing programmes, including Making Sport a Daily Habit (MSADH), we support adults who may be inactive, face health inequalities, or live with long-term health conditions to move more, feel better, and connect with others. You will support the delivery, set-up and administration of inclusive and enjoyable physical activity sessions that help adults build confidence, routine, and enjoyment in being active. Interested in supporting victims/survivors of domestic abuse?

We are currently recruiting Trustees to help us take the charity forward into the future.

Herts Domestic Abuse Helpline is a registered charity led by a Board of Trustees.

The Trustees (all unpaid volunteers) act individually and collectively, to provide overall stewardship of the charity, in accordance with our governing document and relevant legislation. In essence we look after the staff, volunteers and the organisation, so they can support the community.

You don’t need specific qualifications or experience to be a trustee and we welcome people of all ages, backgrounds and experience.

Prospective candidates will need to:

• Have empathy with the work of the Helpline

• Be able to devote the necessary time and effort

• Have well-developed communication and interpersonal skills

• Have good judgement

• Be able to work as a team

• Have the ability, commitment and drive to take the organisation forward

For any charity succession planning is important and with that in mind we are currently looking for people to join our Board as Trustees.

1. Chair: Our Chair will be stepping down soon after 15 years and we are looking for someone to learn the ropes beside her before taking on the role.
