We need dedicated volunteers to work at our Olympia store. If you have a passion for fashion (especially second-hand), amazing customer service skills and you are keen to learn new skills, then this opportunity is for you. As a volunteer you will also be involved in receiving, sorting, steaming, and pricing our lovely donations, serving at the till, and using your creativity to create displays around the shop. Training will be provided. As a volunteer, you will be helping to raise money for the Octavia Foundation and support the work we do in the local community.

Role summary

As a Community Support Volunteer, you will play an important role in the Compassionate Communities programme by helping people talk about death and dying, grief and loss as well as raising awareness about St Helena Hospice services. We believe that breaking down taboos and getting people talking is key in helping communities support each other.

Your role will involve:

· Offering a welcoming, supportive presence and a listening ear to allow people to engage in meaningful conversations around topics such as incurable illness, caregiving, dying and bereavement. This may include signposting to relevant community support or care provision.

· Establishing contacts within the community and building relationships

· Supporting St Helena in informal sessions or larger events that may be held in community groups, charities, cafes or other organisations.

· Connecting with St Helena staff and partners before and after events to give feedback and receive support

· Assisting with basic event logistics such as setting up spaces, offering refreshments, distributing materials, and collecting informal feedback.

Training & supervision

· Online mandatory training relevant to the role

· Compassionate Conversations training – online/in person

· Dedicated line manager for training and support with regular meetings

Experience & qualifications required

· Experience in a role involving interaction with the public, especially in a supportive or listening capacity

· Understanding of the importance of compassion and empathy when discussing sensitive topics

· Ability to maintain personal and professional boundaries

· Comfortable speaking with people from a wide range of backgrounds

About the Role

About the Role

Rotherham & Barnsley Mind are seeking a Receptionist / Administration Support Volunteer to provide a friendly, professional front‑of‑house service at our Rotherham office.

This is a key volunteer role within the organisation. As the first point of contact, you will help create a welcoming, calm and supportive environment for people accessing our mental health services, as well as staff, volunteers and visitors.

The role also includes a range of general administrative tasks to support the smooth running of the organisation. We are looking for a reliable and flexible volunteer who enjoys working with people and supporting a busy office environment.

Key Responsibilities

Reception & Front‑of‑House

• Provide a warm, respectful and professional welcome to all visitors
• Answer incoming telephone calls, take messages and direct enquiries appropriately
• Ensure visitors sign in and out of the building in line with Health & Safety procedures
• Maintain a tidy, welcoming reception and waiting area
• Make refreshments for visitors where required
• Act as a first point of contact for suppliers and contractors
• Support cashless payments for services where applicable (with training and supervision)

Administration & Office Support

• Support with general administrative tasks such as photocopying, scanning and printing
• Assist with managing the room booking diary
• Deal with incoming and outgoing post
• Support stock checks and ordering of office supplies (e.g. stationery and kitchen items)
• Input basic information and update records on internal systems, following GDPR guidance
• Provide ad‑hoc administrative support to staff and services as required

Health, Safety & Safeguarding

• Support the Office Manager in maintaining a safe and secure building
• Assist with opening and closing the building, where appropriate and agreed
• Undertake health and safety responsibilities appropriate to a volunteer role
  (e.g. fire marshal or first aid support – training provided if required)
• Recognise and promptly raise any safeguarding concerns with a named staff member

Boundaries of the Role

This is a non‑therapeutic volunteer role. You will not be expected to provide counselling or mental health advice. Clear boundaries will be in place, and support will always be available from staff.

Interakt is a creative community arts charity that empowers adults with learning

disabilities and additional needs through theatre, dance, music, and participatory arts

workshops. We believe creativity builds confidence, connection, and wellbeing, and our

1. General Volunteer – Bring Your Creativity, Make a Difference!

to join our volunteer team at Interakt – a vibrant arts charity supporting adults with

learning disabilities and additional needs. You don’t need to be a professional artist – just someone who’s kind, reliable, and ready to get stuck in.

We’re looking for volunteers to help participants enjoy dance workshops — assisting

facilitators, encouraging participation, and bringing good vibes (two left feet totally

welcome).

No formal dance training needed – just enthusiasm, empathy, and a smile. Weekly or

fortnightly sessions in Newbury.

3. Media & Videography Volunteer – Capture the Magic

Do you love filming, editing, or digital storytelling? We’re looking for a Media &

Videography Volunteer to help us record our creative projects — from drama rehearsals to

live shows!

You’ll help:

• Film workshops and performances
• Edit short highlight videos
• Support participants in learning basic media skills

Perfect for someone studying film, media, or digital content – or anyone who just loves

telling real, human stories.

4. Sewing & Creative Crafts Volunteer – Make It, Stitch It, Create It!

Our creative sessions often need props, costumes, and set pieces – and that’s where you

come in! If you can thread a needle, use a glue gun, or just love a good craft table, we’d love

your help.

You’ll help with:

• Sewing, painting, making props
• Supporting costume and set creation for shows
• Helping participants with craft activities

5. Refreshments & Support Volunteer – The Real Hero Behind the Scenes!

Every creative session needs someone who keeps the kettle boiling and the smiles flowing.

We’re looking for friendly volunteers to help with:

• Making refreshments
• Setting up and clearing spaces
• Chatting and welcoming participants
• Helping out during art or music sessions when needed

6. Music & Performance Volunteer – Make Some Noise!

You’ll help:

• Play an instrument, sing, or help participants explore music
• Support rehearsals and performances
• Help record or mix simple audio pieces

You don’t need to be a pro – just ready to share your enthusiasm for music and community.

7. All-Round Creative Support – Multi-Skills Volunteer

If you love variety and want to dip your toe into everything, this one’s for you. One week

you might be filming a rehearsal, the next helping paint props, or supporting a dance class.
