Crisis of Faith: 1 in 4 young Muslims are leaving the religion due to various factors, primarily the pervasive anti-religious content and temptations they encounter online and offline. 

Roots Academy exists to bridge this gap by providing a structured and transformative Islamic education that speaks directly to the needs and challenges of young Muslims today, delivered in an engaging and accessible form that removes barriers to access and provokes thought and action.

Role Summary.

Creators with Purpose is Roots Academy's community of Muslim student content creators - a hand-picked group of relatable, authentic voices using their platforms to reach and uplift Muslim students across the country.

To grow and sustain it, we're looking for a Community Manager to be the heartbeat of this community. You'll onboard new creators, run our content calendar and review process, and keep a thriving group of creators supported, inspired and consistently producing content that reaches the exact audience we exist to serve. This is a relationship-first role for someone who loves bringing people together around a shared mission.

Key tasks

• Community management - Own and energise our creator community keeping it warm, active and supportive; welcome new creators, spark introductions, and encourage creators to learn from and uplift one another.

• Onboarding - Identify and reach out to potential creators, run friendly 1-2-1 welcome calls, share the vision and welcome pack, and bring new creators into the fold with as low a barrier to entry as possible.

• Content coordination - Run the content calendar end-to-end: agree each creator's posting frequency and dates, keep the Notion tracker current.

• Creative support - Keep creators inspired with prompts, content ideas and themed series (e.g. Freshers, exam season), and offer tailored concepts to those who want them while protecting each creator's own style and voice.

• Mentorship & belonging - Coordinate regular calls with the team, and help every creator feel like a genuine part of Team Roots.

• Tracking & reporting - Track creator output and reach, monitor how creators are driving students toward Roots workshops, and report progress and feedback.

About the role:

As a Till  Volunteer you’ll be joining a friendly, welcoming team of volunteers and staff who support each other and have a lot of fun along the way. We value every volunteer and the unique perspective, skills and energy you bring. 

Whether you’re sorting donations, creating beautiful displays, or chatting to customers, every task you take on helps to build a more inclusive world. 

We value volunteer development, and as part of this role your can develop your skills further by training to become a till user alongside your regular shop volunteer responsibilities, or progressing into a Key volunteer, a role which includes opening, running, and closing the shop in the absence of the manager.

No matter your reason for volunteering – whether it’s to meet new people, build new skills or support Sense’s cause – there’s a place for you in one of our shops. 

Due to the nature of the role, we require all applicants to be aged 16 or over. You must have a UK address to volunteer with Sense.

What your role will involve

There are a variety of tasks that you can get involved with in the shop, including:

• Provide a warm, friendly welcome to customers.
• Provide great customer service and a fantastic shopping experience.
• Receiving donated goods from members of the public.
• Processing sales and serving on the till.
• Promoting Gift Aid and other Sense fundraising initiatives.
• Acting as an ambassador for Sense; promoting the shop and Sense in your local community.
• Supporting with the recruitment and training of new volunteers.
• Following health and safety measures to ensure the safety of everyone.

Key responsibilities: Till volunteer

Being a till volunteer includes all the same responsibilities as a shop volunteer, however, when you’re ready, we’ll provide you with additional training to:

• Serve customers on the till in a warm and friendly way.
• Put sales through the till, packing them and thanking the customer for shopping with us.
• Talk to customers about Gift Aid and other fundraising initiatives.

A bit about this role

As a charity we can continue to help cats and kittens in need thanks to the donations we receive at fundraising events from generous members of the public. Our fundraising event helpers have the exciting and varied role of helping at local fundraising events - such as cakes sales, barn dances, quiz nights – and everything in between!

Time expectation

This role is really flexible! You could choose to volunteer at one event for a couple of hours or attend multiple fundraising events.

We’ll keep you up to date with upcoming local events where volunteers are needed. You’ll then be able to choose which events you’d like to volunteer at and how many hours you’d like to give. However much time you can give, your contribution will help raise much needed funds to continue the work of Cats Protection.

About the Role

As a Maintenance Volunteer, you will help maintain and improve the homes and environments of people with autism, sight loss, and learning disabilities. Your support will help create safe, comfortable, and welcoming spaces where people can thrive.

This role involves practical tasks such as painting, decorating, gardening, and general DIY. Please note that electrical, plumbing, and gas work are not included in this volunteer role.

What is the purpose of this role?

The Sybil Levin Day Service is a specialist SPECAL-Led day service supporting people with dementia and their carers using the SPECAL method.

What activities might you be involved in?

• Assisting centre attendees to engage in activities.
• Serving meals and drinks.
• Helping to set up and clear away activities.
• Engaging in conversation with centre attendees.
• Volunteering in line with the Charity’s policies and procedures and adhering to the Volunteer Code of Conduct

What are we looking for?

• People with a genuine interest in the wellbeing of people with dementia.

• Being comfortable in small groups or on a one to one basis.
• People with a commitment to using the SPECAL method at all times whilst at the centre.

When would you be needed to volunteer?

The centre is open from Monday to Friday and would like volunteers to commit to a morning or afternoon at least once a week as a minimum.

What training will you be given?

You will be given all the training you need to enable you to carry out your role.  This will include a thorough Charity induction and a departmental induction to provide further information about the role.  You will also be given access to our online training library to complete the training modules that are mandatory for your role.

You will receive SPECAL training prior to commencing your role.

Chance to Shine is looking for volunteers to support our Strategy, Impact, and Evaluation department. We are looking for volunteers who can come to our Holborn office and dedicate approximately 2-3 days per month to supporting our data digitisation. You do not need to commit to full days; hours can be arranged to fit your availability but we ask that each session would be a minimum three-hour block between 9am and 5pm (e.g., one full day and three-four half-days across a month)

As a charity, we collect feedback from children via paper surveys to understand the impact of our programmes. We need dedicated volunteers to help us accurately transfer this data into our Excel systems so we can effectively report on our work and improve young people's wellbeing.

The key responsibilities are:

• Data Entry: Manually entering data from paper survey forms into Microsoft Excel spreadsheets with accuracy.
• Data Cleaning: Reviewing entries for errors or missing information.
• Deciphering: Interpreting difficult-to-read handwriting and making logical judgment calls (or flagging issues) where data is unclear.
• File Management: Organising and filing the physical paper surveys securely after entry. If you are comfortable using Excel, have good concentration, strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy and good communication skills, we would love to hear from you.

• Programme Delivery: Jointly manage and deliver community hub programmes (90% of which are free), ranging from our Homeschooling Hub to After-School and Holiday Clubs.

• CEO Support: Coordinate directly with the CEO to manage workflows, schedule essential meetings, and align project timelines.
• Human Resources: Assist with tracking volunteer onboarding records and training schedules.
• Fundraising Support: Help track grant applications and coordinate local fundraising events.
• Communications & Social Media: Create engaging content using Canva and manage our active social media profiles to promote hub activities.

What We Are Looking For

Essential Skills:

• Tech Literacy: Mastery of the full Microsoft Office Suite, including Microsoft Teams.
• Design Tools: Proficiency in Canva to create engaging social media and marketing graphics.
• Communication: Warm, professional written and verbal communication skills.
• Organisation: Strong time management, budget awareness, and the ability to manage diverse administrative tasks

Desirable Criteria:

• Driving License: A clean, valid UK driving license is highly preferred.

Commitment & Flexibility

We require a combined commitment across our core office days: Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with online remote workflows on Tuesday and Friday.

As this is an official job-share arrangement, the two Operations Leads will divide and coordinate these days between them to ensure seamless operational cover across the 3 core days.

Who we are looking for

We welcome anyone who is passionate about disability equality and willing to support our work! You must be over 18 years old. You will need to feel comfortable working in a large busy warehouse environment and be able to lift and carry items, although we have a forklift truck to assist with heavier items.

Some volunteers want to learn more about charities or about retail. Others want to make a difference to the lives of disabled people. Other volunteers are interested in our training and development opportunities. Some people join us to meet new people and make friends. Sometimes people want to help a charity shop they like shopping in, while also getting a discount online!

Scope is a disability equality charity providing practical information, emotional support and campaigning for a fairer society. As a volunteer in our warehouse, you’ll help raise vital funds for our work towards everyday equality for disabled people. You will make a real difference to the lives of disabled people and their families.

Join FARA, a charity with over 30 years of experience and 39 charity shops across London. Our Chiswick shop is looking for a dedicated Clothes Repair Volunteer to support our team in preparing donated clothing for sale through basic repairs, alterations, and garment care.

By volunteering with us, you’ll play an important role in extending the life of donated clothing, reducing textile waste, and supporting our commitment to reuse and a sustainable circular economy.

The Role: 

As a volunteer, your responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):

• Repairing donated clothing, including sewing buttons, fixing hems, and mending minor tears
• Assessing garments to identify repair needs
• Carrying out basic alterations where appropriate
• Ensuring repaired items are presented to a high standard for sale
• Supporting the team in maintaining quality standards for donated clothing
• Organising and sorting garments as required
• Assisting with other shop activities when needed

The Volunteer: 

We’re looking for someone who:

• Has sewing skills and enjoys clothing repair or alteration
• Has a good eye for detail and garment quality
• Is friendly, approachable, and enthusiastic
• Is reliable and able to work as part of a team
• Knowledge of brands, materials, or collectable items is a plus, but not essential
• Previous experience with sewing, tailoring, dressmaking, or textile crafts is desirable but not essential

About the role

Orchestra of Everything Foundation (OOEF) delivers free, immersive music education to around 250 children aged 7–11 at two Bath primary schools in Twerton and Whiteway — nationally ranked deprived communities. Our impact is off the scale: school leaders tell us that 86% of children show improved attitudes to learning across all subjects, and we have been instrumental in a 39% reduction in pupil suspensions. Our work has caught the attention of the Department for Education, and Bath Spa University now incorporates our model into teacher training.

As an Operations & Admin Volunteer you might focus on one area or help across several, depending on your skills and availability: volunteer scheduling, communications, grant applications, impact reporting, events and partnerships. This role can be shaped entirely around you. If you want to be on-site — watching sessions, being part of the team, seeing the impact first-hand — we would love that. Volunteers who come in consistently tell us it is the most motivating thing about the work. But if remote or flexible working suits you better, that works too.

Time commitment

The time commitment is flexible and entirely negotiable — from a couple of hours per month to something more regular. Some volunteers come via employer volunteering schemes on a rota (companies and organisations are very welcome); others commit as individuals on an ad hoc basis; others come as students fitting volunteering around their studies. We will shape the arrangement entirely around your availability.

ENGINEERS/MAKERS

Across the UK, our 60+ local branches help disabled people live the lives they choose. Our network of skilled volunteers respond to thousands of requests each year to design and make customised equipment free of charge.

Our Engineer/Maker volunteers are at the very heart of what our local branches do. They use their practical skills and creativity to help people with disabilities live fuller and more independent lives.

What the role involves

This is a varied role where local need shapes what you’ll be working on, but it often includes:

• Designing and making pieces of equipment for individuals with specific needs

• Using your practical skills working with metal, wood, plastic, or electronics (or a combination of them)

• Attending a monthly meeting of the local branch.

We can support you to develop the skills you need for this role, and there’s an induction that covers all the areas above. You’ll also have chance to discuss your role and any additional needs with us.

What you’ll need for this role

Essential

• Practical experience in working with one of the above materials

• Comfortable working with people, listening to them and understanding their needs

• Able to apply our risk management system

• Able to apply disability, equality, and inclusion practices

• Able to keep people’s personal details safe

• Willing to follow REMAP policies and procedures and a commitment to our values

Desirable

• Access to your own tools and workshop (or can access these)

• Able to drive or have good transport links

You’ll also need to complete the induction checklist, as well as a DBS check and reference check.

Where will I volunteer?

This role is largely home based, but will generally also involve visiting clients out in the community. Your local branches hold in-person meetings once a month or so.

Time commitment

This varies quite a lot depending on which cases come in, how complex they are and whether they fit your skills and experience, but it’s essentially a flexible role and there are no set hours.

Day Centre Assistant & Companion

What You’ll Do

Support staff and clients at the Mabel Churn Centre to create a warm, welcoming environment for older people living with dementia. You’ll help with social activities and mealtimes to ensure the day runs smoothly.

You will:

· Chat and engage with clients to build a friendly atmosphere

· Encourage and support participation in activities (e.g. arts, music)

· Set up tables and help serve meals and drinks

· Clear tables and keep the space clean and tidy

· Communicate with staff about client needs or concerns

Skills You’ll Use or Develop

· Friendly and compassionate nature

· Comfortable supporting older people, including those with dementia

· Punctual and reliable

· Able to follow instructions and work as part of a team

· Respectful of confidentiality

Time Commitment

4 hours between 10:30 am and 4:00 pm
(Weekdays)

Location: The Mabel Churn Centre, 55b Sunny Road, Enfield, EN3 5EF

Reports to: Day Centre Manager
