  • Type: Voluntary (All medical staff, including students, operate on a volunteer basis)

Core Responsibilities

1. Clinical Leadership & Match Day Care

  • Lead pitch-side first aid and emergency trauma management on match-day Sundays.
  • Conduct acute injury assessments, treatments, and pitch-side rehabilitation for the squad.
  • Make definitive, safe return-to-play decisions during high-paced league fixtures.
  • Oversee player wellbeing and implement injury prevention strategies using our HRV tracking data. [9, 10]

2. Mentorship & Management

  • Manage, mentor, and support an enthusiastic 3rd-year graduate sports therapy/physio student.
  • Coordinate student rotas and delegate match-day responsibilities to support their clinical growth.
  • Provide constructive feedback to your student assistant on taping, assessments, and pitch-side care.

3. Department Operations

  • Monitor medical inventory and manage the restocking of the club-provided medical kits.
  • Ensure all equipment complies with National League Tier 7 safety regulations.
  • Maintain confidential, accurate electronic medical records for all squad players.

Requirements & Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree in Physiotherapy, Sports Therapy, or Sports Rehabilitation (Newly qualified / Junior / Senior 2 level).
  • Professional board registration or eligibility (e.g., HCPC, SST, BASRaT, or equivalent).
  • Valid, advanced pitch-side first aid certificate (e.g., PHICIS, IMMED, FA Level 3 EMMiFF, or equivalent).
  • Valid professional indemnity insurance.
  • Availability for Sunday match days.

Desirable

  • Prior experience working within women's football or a team sports environment.
  • Strong leadership communication skills to coordinate between players, coaches, and student staff.
  • A passion for community health, inclusion, and driving women's sport forward.
