Job Purpose:

To lead, structure, and oversee the organisation’s entire Story Intelligence function, ensuring a consistent, ethical, and high-quality pipeline of verified story leads is identified, tracked, and delivered to the Outreach Team in a timely and actionable format.

This role exists to convert raw discovery activity into a coordinated intelligence system that connects research, trend monitoring, story scouting, and contact discovery into a single, structured pipeline of qualified story opportunities.

The Story Research & Intelligence Manager is responsible for designing and maintaining the systems, standards, and workflows used to identify, assess, prioritise, and hand over potential stories. This includes ensuring that all story leads are relevant, appropriately contextualised, and aligned with the organisation’s mission and safeguarding principles before they progress to outreach.

A core function of this role is to ensure clarity and alignment between the Story Intelligence Team and the Outreach Team, so that outreach activity is always based on well-qualified, well-understood, and appropriately prioritised story leads rather than fragmented or incomplete information.

The role also ensures consistency in how stories are evaluated, categorised, and prioritised, maintaining a structured pipeline that supports both short-term outreach targets and long-term narrative development goals.

Ultimately, this position serves as the strategic control centre for story discovery—ensuring the organisation maintains a disciplined, scalable, and ethically grounded system for turning public narratives, emerging conversations, and lived experiences into structured opportunities for engagement and storytelling.

About the role:

The Story Research Intelligence Manager oversees the story discovery process and manages a team responsible for sourcing potential guests across social media, news outlets, podcasts, documentaries, books, charities, advocacy groups, support networks, and community organisations.

The manager ensures a consistent pipeline of qualified story leads is passed to the Outreach Team.

They develop approved systems for tracking leads, prioritising opportunities, and maintaining story databases.

We are seeking a WordPress developer to revamp our current website. Preferably able to do IT support for the site. Your input to our online presence will shape how we are presented to service users, funders and the general public. The more eyes on us, the more support we have to reach our objective.

We need someone who has experience with creating and designing user-friendly websites on the WordPress platform. These are the key soft skills we're looking for:

Our shops are a hive of activity and the heart of the local community. They raise funds to support our vital work and provide a place to find out more about how we help older people in the local area.

Our Stock Preparation Volunteers always enjoy being part of our shop teams; making new friends and helping the charity to maximise the income from the amazing items people donate to us.

In this role you will usually be working in our donation sorting area, which is off the shop floor. Here you will help the team process, prepare and price the items people donate.

We receive hundreds of bags of clothing, bric-a-brac, toys, games and all sorts of items every week. You will help us to turn these into vital funds to support our work.

After full training you will be part of our processing team; sorting through the donated items, identifying those which we should sell, preparing them and pricing before they are put onto the shop floor.

You may have a particular area of experience, such as clothing, books or antiques. Your skills and knowledge will help us to gain the best value for each item and some of our volunteers even coordinate entire sections, such as a book rooms within our stores.

When people come in to donate their items you will be helping to thank them for their support. Many items are Gift Aided so when processing the items you will ensure that Gift Aid labels are attached so that we can gain this additional vital income.

You will help to make our products look amazing; steaming clothes (if this is your area) and helping to clean and make every item look great and ready for sale.

We currently need volunteers on Monday (1pm-4.30pm), Tuesday (1pm-4.30pm), Weds (9.30 am-1pm). No special skills are needed as we will show you what to do and will provide all the training you need.

As a Customer Service Volunteer you will get the chance to meet new people and make friends, plus play a vital role in helping to raise funds to support local older people.

You will be working on the shop floor as the welcoming face of our charity. Serving customers with a smile, using the till (don't worry, we will show you how) and handling money and sales.

When people come in to donate items you will be thanking them for their support and helping them to complete Gift Aid signups on our Gift Aid system.

You will help to make our shops look amazing; putting out items that the sorting teams have prepared, helping with merchandising, labelling and ensuring the shop is clean and always looking its' best.

You will need to be ok using a touch screen device as our tills run on a tablet, though we will always provide full training and some time for you to get used to using this first.

Lastly, you may have people enquiring about our work, or asking for help and we will provide you with all the details of where to refer them to within the charity.

Looking for a hands‑on volunteer role where you can make a real difference? Join us as a Volunteer Distribution Centre Yard Organiser and help keep our busy yard running safely and efficiently.

You’ll support recycling efforts, keep walkways and storage areas organised, ensure stock is clearly labelled, and work closely with the Warehouse Manager to maintain a tidy, well‑run space. No experience is needed — we provide full training, equipment, and ongoing support. All you need is enthusiasm, reliability, and a willingness to learn.

If you’re interested in recycling, warehouse operations, or developing new practical skills while supporting a great cause, this role could be a perfect fit.

We are looking for someone who could ideally volunteer during the week between Monday-Friday if possible, but would be grateful for whatever time you can spare.

About the role:

This role leads the entire outreach strategy for survivor engagement across social media, podcasts, referrals, and community networks. They ensure all communication is trauma-informed, consent-led, and does not exploit or pressure vulnerable individuals.

They create safe entry points for survivors to self-identify interest in sharing their story and establish referral pathways into the production team.

They also act as the final gatekeeper before any survivor is contacted for interview consideration.

Furniture Store Assistant: The role will also include assisting with moving furniture around the store, assembling & dismantling beds, and other flat packed furniture, and getting to express your creative side, by making attractive room displays.

It would be ideal if you could volunteer at least one shift a week, which is about four hours but we're also happy to have more flexible times.

To lead the strategic planning and operational design of a world-class IFA Retreat in Nigeria, ensuring that every aspect of the guest experience reflects the values, traditions, spirituality, hospitality, and cultural authenticity of the Yoruba/Ifa traditions. The consultant will develop the operational framework required to transition the retreat from concept stage to a fully functioning retreat destination.

About the role:

As a Founding Volunteer Hospitality Operations Consultant, you will work closely with the leadership team to design the retreat's operational structure before construction and launch.

You will help create the guest journey, accommodation experience, retreat activities, staffing requirements, wellness offerings, cultural experiences, food and beverage operations, maintenance systems, and daily operating procedures.

This role requires a strategic thinker who understands hospitality operations while appreciating the importance of preserving the sacred atmosphere and cultural integrity of an authentic Ifa retreat experience.

The successful candidate will remain involved throughout the development phase and assist in refining systems as the retreat evolves toward full operation.

Ideal Candidate

● Passionate about African heritage, indigenous traditions, spiritual tourism, and cultural preservation.

● Understands or is willing to deeply immerse themselves in Yoruba culture and Ifa traditions.
