News & Media Content Creator Volunteer

Together Media is Learn Together CIC’s volunteer-led digital publication. We produce public-interest content covering news, social issues, community stories, politics and culture through videos, interviews, podcasts and short explainers.

We are looking for confident and enthusiastic volunteers to present content on camera and contribute to podcasts and interviews.

Key responsibilities

• Present scripted stories and explainers on camera
• Host or co-host podcasts and recorded discussions
• Interview guests and community contributors
• Research and fact-check topics using reliable sources
• Help prepare scripts and interview questions
• Work with the editorial team to plan responsible and engaging content
• Follow Together Media’s editorial and safeguarding standards

About you

We would like to hear from applicants who:

• Are interested in media, storytelling and social issues
• Communicate clearly and confidently
• Are comfortable on camera or keen to develop their presenting skills
• Are reliable, responsible and receptive to feedback
• Can work independently and collaboratively

Previous presenting or media experience is welcome but not required. Training and guidance will be provided in research, fact-checking, interviewing, podcast planning, script delivery and on-camera presentation.

This is an excellent opportunity to gain practical media experience, develop published work and strengthen your professional portfolio.

Location and commitment

The role can be completed remotely or in person in Manchester. Opportunities are available during the week and at weekends, with a minimum commitment of two hours per week.

No specialist equipment is required. The only equipment you need is a smartphone for recording content.
