Job description

HELP BUILD SOMETHING THAT MATTERS

MINDSET Charity is looking for a Volunteer Chair of the Board to help lead and shape our founding team.

We’re building MINDSET — a brand‑new, energetic mental health charity for men and boys in London.

Our focus is simple: practical, non‑clinical tools that actually feel good to use. Motivational interviewing. Solution‑focused approaches. Self‑improvement practices. Life coaching. Mentoring. Real conversations that help men understand themselves better, strengthen their mindset and take confident steps towards healthier futures.

Our mission is clear: to be the bridge into mental health — a safe, stigma‑free starting point where men and boys can reflect, set goals and get support long before crisis point.

Through our programmes, workshops and support, we equip men and boys with the skills and techniques that build resilience, boost wellbeing and create lasting change.

MINDSET is where growth begins — and where positive futures take shape.

THE ROLE: CHAIR OF THE BOARD (VOLUNTEER)

This is a founding leadership role — an opportunity to help build a charity from the ground up.

As our Chair, you will guide the Board, support the Founder, and help shape MINDSET’s strategic direction. You’ll bring confidence, clarity and experience to ensure our governance is strong, our decision‑making is sound, and our mission stays front and centre as we grow.

This role is ideal for someone with previous charity board or Chair experience who wants to use their leadership to create real social impact.

You will help us with:

  • Providing clear, steady leadership to the Board of Trustees

  • Ensuring effective governance, oversight and decision‑making

  • Supporting the Founder in a collaborative way

  • Leading Board meetings, setting agendas and ensuring productive discussion

  • Helping shape MINDSET’s long‑term strategy, priorities and direction

  • Building a positive, motivated and high‑performing Board culture

  • Acting as an ambassador for MINDSET with partners, funders and stakeholders

  • Ensuring the charity operates safely, responsibly and in line with UK charity regulations

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Bring your leadership.
  • Bring your experience of charity boards.
  • Bring your strategic thinking.
  • Bring your ability to motivate and inspire others.
  • Help us build something powerful, purposeful and lasting.

Could you help us make MINDSET happen?

WE’D LOVE TO HEAR FROM PEOPLE WITH EXPERIENCE IN:

  • Chairing charity or community organisation boards
  • Trustee leadership or governance
  • Strategic planning and organisational development
  • Charity start‑ups or early‑stage growth
  • Partnership building, stakeholder engagement or fundraising
  • Mental health, wellbeing or community support (bonus)
  • Safeguarding or risk management (bonus)

If you care about men’s wellbeing, believe in early intervention, and want to help build a charity with heart, purpose and ambition — this role is for you.
