For more than 160 years, British Home has supported people living with complex neurological conditions, providing specialist neurorehabilitation and long-term care.

British Home is now entering an exciting new phase of clinical development. Recent investment has enabled the launch of a Level 2b intensive neurorehabilitation service and a specialist tracheostomy care ward, supporting British Home’s ambition to become a leader in neurorehabilitation and therapeutic care.

As the organisation continues to strengthen and expand its services, the Board is seeking to appoint three new Trustees with expertise in the following areas:

· Clinical

· Technology and Digital

· Property and Asset Management

Trustees play a vital role in ensuring The British Home delivers on its mission while maintaining the highest standards of governance, quality and accountability.

Working collaboratively with fellow Trustees and the executive team, you will help ensure the organisation delivers against its strategic objectives, operates effectively, and meets the expectations of its residents, patients and wider stakeholders.

Castel Froma Neuro Care is an award-winning registered charity and company providing person-centred nursing care, rehabilitation, respite and long-term care for adults with brain injuries and neurological conditions such as Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease and Motor Neurone Disease across our two specialist centres in Royal Leamington Spa, Warwickshire.

The Role – Trustee

Trustees play a vital role in ensuring Castel Froma Neuro Care is well-governed, financially sustainable and focused on its charitable purpose.

Working collectively as part of the Board, Trustees are responsible for:

· Setting and overseeing the charity’s strategic direction, mission and values

· Ensuring high standards of governance, accountability and ethical leadership

· Safeguarding the charity’s reputation, assets and long-term sustainability

· Ensuring the charity continues to deliver high-quality services that meet the needs of residents and families

· Ensure the charity complies with charity law requirements and other laws that apply to your charity

Trustees are not involved in day-to-day operations, but provide strategic oversight, scrutiny and guidance, acting at all times in the best interests of the charity and its beneficiaries.

Please note that an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check will be required for this role.

Our Associate Trustee Induction Model

We recognise that becoming a trustee is a significant responsibility and are committed to supporting new Trustees to succeed.

All new Trustees therefore begin in an Associate Trustee role as part of a structured and supportive induction process. This allows individuals to gain insight and confidence before taking on full legal responsibilities.

As an Associate Trustee, you will:

· Attend Board and Committee meetings in a non-voting capacity

· Receive a structured induction covering governance, legal duties, strategy, finance and our services

· Be paired with an experienced Trustee buddy for mentoring and support

· Have time to understand the charity, its culture and expectations of the role

Following this induction period, Associate Trustees will be invited to take up full trustee responsibilities, subject to mutual agreement.

Who We’re Looking For

We welcome applications from individuals with:

✔ A strategic mindset and good independent judgement
✔ Experience in one or more of the following areas: finance/business development, information technology, clinical/health/social care, organisational governance, business development, commissioning, or lived experience of neurological conditions (including as a carer)

Time Commitment

Our Independent Visitor Volunteers provide consistent and supportive relationships to children ad young people in care, offering emotional support, companionship, and guidance through shared activities and time together.The Independent Visitor plays a vital role in helping the young people build confidence and feel secure while enhancing their personal, social, and cultural development. 

As an Independent Visitor Volunteer in England, you might: 

• support the child/young person to experience enriching activities that contribute to their personal and cultural development

• engage in activities such as pursuing hobbies, meeting for meals, or socialising in a community setting

• listen to and support the young person, fostering a sense of safety and trust

• help the young person develop social skills and increase their involvement in their community

Age UK Notts are seeking individuals who would like to be considered as a volunteer for our Companion Service.

Volunteers will be supporting people in their own homes and in the community within Nottingham and Nottinghamshire and ideally, we ask all applicants to provide a minimum of 1 hour volunteering a week.

The companion service volunteer can choose to be:                                                           

• A companion within the person’s home

• A companion outside the person’s home

Examples of the type of support the service offers include:

• Supporting an older person/s hobbies and interests or simply chatting with them in their own home on a regular basis.

• Supporting with digital access & building confidence skills & motivation to access the opportunities of the internet.

• Supporting the person outside of their home e.g., by accompanying them on a walk, to the shops, to a café, garden centre, theatre or cinema or other social activities / community groups. 

• Where appropriate, supporting the older person to access other services through information and signposting or referring to the Companion Service Coordinator for support.

We are looking for the following skills/interests:

• Individuals with a genuine interest in the wellbeing of older people who are committed to volunteering on a regular basis.

• Commitment to complete our Volunteer Report Form accurately and regularly. 

• Ability to travel for visits in the local community either by car or public transport for those volunteers who choose to participate in this type of activity.

• Digital literacy for those volunteers who choose to participate in this type of activity.

The Role

We are seeking an experienced, confident, and creative Volunteer Senior Social Media Manager to take ownership of Influential Stars’ social media presence across multiple platforms.

This is a hands-on role for someone capable of planning, creating, and scheduling purposeful content that raises awareness, builds community engagement, and supports campaigns across the UK.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and grow Influential Stars’ social media presence across platforms including Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, YouTube, and LinkedIn

• Plan, create, and schedule consistent content aligned with the organisation’s mission and tone of voice

• Develop content that inspires awareness, connection, and positive action

• Share stories, campaigns, and updates in a sensitive and engaging way

• Maintain content calendars and scheduling systems

• Monitor engagement and respond appropriately where required

• Coordinate with internal team members to ensure accurate and timely messaging

• Maintain brand consistency across all channels

• Stay informed about platform trends and opportunities to increase reach

Although this is currently a volunteer position, Influential Stars is actively working to grow the platform with the long term aim of creating paid roles. While we are unable to provide a timeframe and future opportunities will depend on the organisation’s growth and incoming work, this role offers the chance to be part of that journey from an early stage.

Chair of Trustees role:

You will be chairing the Board of Trustees, ensuring that we have minimum representation required for decisions to be made, keeping the board aligned in decision-making, ensuring all minutes are recorded and that all decisions by trustees are made with the appropriate context provided.

This is a great opportunity to develop further governance skills and experience, and help steer an important charity in the right direction.

Trustees meetings are usually held every six weeks, plus there is an AGM, away days, and any sub-committee meetings that trustees may be involved in. Most meetings will remain virtual but there will from time to time be a need to attend key meetings and events in Nottingham. The time commitment is approximately 4hours per month, but there may be occasions when more time is required for a short period.

Who are we looking for?

• Previous chairing experience
• Relevant experience in any of the following financial management, HR, charities, fundraising, social prescribing, NHS, local authorities, marketing, business development, governance, strategy or legal
• A willingness to devote the necessary time and effort
• Good, independent judgement
• The ability to challenge and ask questions
• An understanding and acceptance of the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of trusteeship
• A commitment to Nolan’s seven principles of public life: selflessness, integrity, objectivity, accountability, openness, honesty, and leadership

About Self Help UK

Self Help UK is a leading peer support organisation with over 40 years of experience in developing and delivering peer-led services. Our mission is to empower individuals and communities by embedding peer support principles into health and wellbeing initiatives. We have created a range of innovative programmes that help people living with cancer and other long-term health conditions to navigate challenges and take control of their health and wellbeing.

We work in partnership with Macmillan Cancer Support on projects that make a real difference. These include national and local initiatives for the Deaf community, volunteer-led support for anyone affected by cancer, and prehabilitation services for those facing complex treatment. In 2026, we will collaborate with our Integrated Care System to improve health literacy and increase cancer screening uptake among underserved communities in Nottingham. Looking ahead, we are exploring a new direction to position Self Help UK as a holistic, person-centred support provider, embedding peer support and volunteer-led activity at the heart of everything we do. Befriender Volunteers play a key role in supporting individuals as they move on from our services and begin to live more independently. This role helps individuals stay connected, build stability, and feel confident in their next steps. Volunteers provide emotional support, practical assistance, and companionship to help people achieve their personal goals and stay engaged with their community.

What you will be doing

• Carry out regular check-ins—via phone, online, or in person—to help service users feel supported after leaving the service. Provide friendly visits where appropriate, offering a listening ear and encouragement during the transition to independent living
• Support individuals to build links within their local community, such as identifying clubs, social groups, local activities, or places of interest based on their personal goals.
• Encourage service users to take part in community events and build social connections that promote long-term wellbeing.
• Accompany service users to view potential properties where needed. Provide assistance exploring practical items or resources they may need after moving on, such as furniture options, budgeting tools, or local amenities.
• support service users to attend GP or other health appointments, helping reduce anxiety and build confidence in navigating services.
• Help individuals develop social skills, communication skills, and confidence through positive interactions and gentle encouragement. Providing motivation and reassurance as they work towards independent living goals.
• Support service users to access and participate in our online activities, helping them build digital confidence and stay connected. Assist with basic digital navigation, where needed (e.g., joining online groups, using communication platforms, accessing resources).

• To provide tips on how to maintain and grow the garden - sowing seeds, planting bulbs, taking cuttings
• Provide basic maintenance such as cutting the grass, emptying bins, managing weed control and leaf raking
• Lead in planting and nurturing new trees, flowers, and various plants
• Provide best practice on how to use the correct gardening tools
• Inspire people in our services and staff to maintain a clean garden
• Advise staff on the costs of plants and garden necessities

Age UK Cheshire's Bright Memories service is a day activity group for people living with the early stages of dementia. We are looking for caring, enthusiastic, friendly volunteers to asisst our staff with running the groups and engaging our members.

At the activity groups, we have a natter and enjoy a wide range of activities that combine mental, physical and social stimulation, including arts and crafts, reminiscence therapy, quizzes, music and movement and a variety of games such as darts, dominoes and carpet bowls.

Skills/Qualifications

• You’ll have an understanding of the challenges facing people living with memory loss or the early stages of dementia and be interested to find out more
• You’ll enjoy listening and talking to people and helping them with simple activities and tasks.
• You will be comfortable preparing and serving simple meals
• You will be empathetic and kind.
• You may be looking to start a career in healthcare or social care and be looking to gain some experience.

Time Commitment

It is important for our members that there is continuity in the staff and helpers they meet at the day groups. We ask for a commitment of at least one full or half day a week, on the same day of the week. This enables relationships to be developed with our members and continuity of care and services.

Many of the men we support experience isolation, low confidence, and barriers to engaging with community life. As a befriender volunteer, you’ll build a consistent, trust based relationship that encourages social connection, helps set and pursue personal goals, and supports wellbeing and independence.

What you will be doing

• Offer regular one-to-one befriending - meeting for a walk, coffee, or a planned activity to reduce isolation and build confidence.
• Provide light, goal focused mentoring - agree simple goals (e.g., joining a group, practicing a routine, building life skills) and check progress together.
• Encourage safe community participation - libraries, local groups, leisure activities, volunteering, or learning opportunities.
• Share clear information and signpost to staff or local services where appropriate
• Accompany to non clinical community appointments, help read/understand letters, complete wellbeing “welfare check ins,” and promote general engagement in the community.
• Keep brief session notes or a simple check in with your supervisor and escalate any concerns immediately in line with safeguarding guidance.

The skills you need

• Warm, patient and non judgemental approach; able to build rapport with adult men from diverse backgrounds.
• Good listening, clear communication and reliability
• Respect for confidentiality and professional boundaries; comfortable following guidance and asking for support.

In this role, you’ll help create a fun, uplifting atmosphere where participants can relax, express themselves, and enjoy music together in a supportive environment. Whether someone wants to belt out their favourite song or simply watch and enjoy, you’ll help make the session welcoming and inclusive for everyone!

What you will be doing

• Set up and pack down karaoke equipment, ensuring everything runs smoothly
• Welcome participants and help them choose songs
• Encourage involvement in a positive, non pressured way
• Create a safe, supportive, and friendly space where everyone feels comfortable taking part.
• Support staff with basic session coordination as needed

The skills you need

• Friendly, approachable, and patient
• Comfortable engaging with individuals from diverse backgrounds
• Enjoys music and creating a positive atmosphere.
• Reliable and confident supporting small groups.
• No singing ability required—just enthusiasm!

Do you enjoy playing games and engaging with people? Are you interested in boosting people’s socialising abilities and cater a safe and cheerful experience? If so, we are recruiting for a volunteer to facilitate weekly games and chat sessions at our Service.

What you will be doing

• Coordinate and set up a weekly games and chat group
• Create a safe space for individuals to express themselves
• Teach people how to play new card and board games
• In the sessions encourage members of the group to connect and relate to each other through playing cards, board games and holding conversations

The skills you need

• Good interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to provide a supportive, and inclusive atmosphere that encourages learning and participation
• Calm, patient, friendly and welcoming
• Keep a record of attendees, provide feedback, and report any concerns to the staff team.
