Job description

We Need Your Help!

Demand for our support is rising rapidly, and Unlock YOUR Potential is growing faster than our systems can keep up. We’re ready to scale — but we cannot build a strong, sustainable, high‑impact organisation without someone who can bring structure, strategy, and operational excellence to our mission.

We urgently need a leader who believes in empowerment, community, and the power of well‑designed systems to change lives.

Become Our Volunteer Head of Operations / COO and Help Build the Engine of Unlock YOUR Potential

Unlock YOUR Potential supports NEET adults (18+) across East London to rebuild confidence, access coaching, improve wellbeing, and reconnect with their ambitions. As a start‑up preparing for charity registration, we are building everything from scratch — and we need someone who can turn our vision into a well‑run, well‑organised, high‑quality organisation.

This is not just an operational role. This is your chance to build the entire operational backbone of a future charity.

Your Impact

As our Head of Operations / COO, you will be the architect of how Unlock YOUR Potential functions day to day. Your leadership will shape the systems, processes, and structures that allow us to deliver safe, effective, and life‑changing support.

You will help us:

  • Build the operational infrastructure needed for charity registration

  • Create systems that support volunteers, coaches, mentors, and programme leads

  • Develop processes that ensure smooth, consistent service delivery

  • Strengthen safeguarding, data protection, and quality assurance

  • Support the Founder and Board with strategic planning and organisational development

  • Ensure we grow sustainably, ethically, and with long‑term impact in mind

Your work will directly influence how many adults we can support — and how well we support them.

What You’ll Lead On

  • Operational Strategy: Designing the systems and processes that underpin all programmes and services.

  • Day‑to‑Day Management: Ensuring the organisation runs smoothly, efficiently, and safely.

  • Safeguarding & Compliance: Working with the Safeguarding Lead and Company Secretary to maintain best practice.

  • Quality Assurance: Monitoring service delivery and ensuring high standards across all programmes.

  • Volunteer & Team Support: Helping the team stay organised, aligned, and supported.

  • Risk Management: Identifying challenges early and building solutions that keep participants safe.

  • Organisational Growth: Supporting the Founder in scaling programmes, partnerships, and operations.

This is a strategic and hands‑on leadership role — ideal for someone who loves building structure, solving problems, and making things work.

What You Bring

You don’t need to have worked in a charity before — what matters most is leadership, organisation, and a passion for social impact.

You may be:

  • Experienced in operations, project management, service delivery, or organisational development

  • Skilled at building systems, processes, and workflows

  • A natural problem‑solver who thrives in start‑up environments

  • Someone who understands the challenges faced by NEET adults or brings lived experience

  • A leader who wants to use their skills to build something meaningful for East London

Above all, you bring integrity, clarity, and a commitment to helping people unlock their potential.

What You Gain

  • A senior leadership role in a growing social impact start‑up

  • The chance to build the operational foundations of a future charity

  • Real influence over how adults in East London access life‑changing support

  • Experience in organisational strategy, operations, and charity development

  • A meaningful legacy — your work will shape how we function for years to come

This is an opportunity to build the engine of an organisation with purpose.

If you’re ready to help us build strong systems for change, we’d love to hear from you.

Unlock YOUR Potential:

Help us build a future where no one is left behind.
