Job description

Volunteering Team Member – Help Build a Movement. Support a Community. Make Volunteering Thrive.

Are you passionate about people, purpose, and creating a welcoming volunteer experience?

  • Do you enjoy organising, supporting others, and helping things run smoothly?
  • Do you want to play a key role in building a positive, empowering volunteering culture?

If so, this role is a perfect fit.

About the Role

As a Volunteering Team Member, you’ll be part of the team responsible for supporting the setup, coordination, and day‑to‑day running of our volunteering programme.

You’ll help ensure that every volunteer — new or existing — feels welcomed, supported, valued, and engaged. Your work will directly contribute to building a strong, motivated, purpose‑driven volunteer community.

What You’ll Do

You’ll support the Volunteering Team with tasks such as:

  • Recruitment support — helping to promote volunteer roles, screen applications, and schedule introductory calls or interviews.

  • Onboarding — assisting with welcome communications, induction materials, and ensuring new volunteers feel confident and prepared.

  • Volunteer engagement — helping to organise check‑ins, appreciation activities, and opportunities for volunteers to connect and grow.

  • Retention support — gathering feedback, monitoring volunteer experience, and helping identify ways to keep volunteers motivated and thriving.

  • Programme coordination — supporting the development of systems, processes, and tools that make the volunteering programme run smoothly.

  • Team support — working closely with the Volunteering Lead/Manager to ensure consistent communication, documentation, and follow‑through.

You won’t be expected to lead the programme — but you will be a vital part of making it work.

What You’ll Bring

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Warm, friendly, and people‑focused

  • Organised and reliable

  • Interested in volunteering, HR, community work, or coordination

  • A good communicator who enjoys supporting others

  • Keen to help build something meaningful from the ground up

  • Motivated by purpose, impact, and teamwork

You don’t need formal experience — just enthusiasm, commitment, and a willingness to learn.

What You’ll Gain

By joining the Volunteering Team, you’ll:

  • Gain hands‑on experience in volunteer coordination and people support

  • Develop skills in recruitment, onboarding, engagement, and programme administration

  • Play a meaningful role in shaping a positive volunteer culture

  • Work with a supportive, passionate team

  • See the real‑world impact of your contribution on volunteers and the people they support

This is a chance to grow, contribute, and be part of something bigger.

A Quick Self‑Check

  • Do you enjoy supporting people?

  • Do you like organising, communicating, and helping things run smoothly?

  • Do you want to help volunteers feel valued and connected?

  • Do you want to be part of a mission‑driven team?

If you’re nodding, this role has your name on it.
