Job description

We Need Your Help!

Demand for our support is rising rapidly, and our movement is growing — but we cannot deliver life‑changing programmes without the people who make it all possible: our volunteers. We urgently need a leader who believes in community, empowerment, and the power of people coming together for good.

Become Our Volunteer Head of Volunteering and Help Build the Heart of Unlock YOUR Potential

Unlock YOUR Potential supports NEET adults (18+) across East London to rebuild confidence, access coaching, improve wellbeing, and reconnect with their ambitions. As a start‑up, we are building everything from the ground up — and our volunteer team will be the engine that drives our mission forward.

We need someone who can design, grow, and lead a volunteer community that is compassionate, skilled, and ready to make a difference.

This is your chance to build the entire volunteering function of a future charity.

Your Impact

As our Head of Volunteering, you will shape the culture, structure, and experience of every volunteer who joins us. Your leadership will ensure that the adults we support are met by trained, motivated, and supported volunteers who can help them unlock their potential.

You will help us:

  • Build a strong, inclusive volunteer programme from scratch

  • Recruit, train, and support volunteers across coaching, mentoring, wellbeing, and community outreach

  • Create a positive, empowering volunteer culture rooted in dignity and respect

  • Develop policies, processes, and safeguarding frameworks that keep everyone safe

  • Build the volunteer infrastructure needed for charity registration and future growth

Your work will directly influence the quality, reach, and impact of every service we deliver.

What You’ll Lead On

  • Volunteer Recruitment: Attracting passionate people from East London and beyond.

  • Training & Development: Creating onboarding, training, and upskilling pathways for all volunteer roles.

  • Volunteer Experience: Ensuring volunteers feel valued, supported, and connected to our mission.

  • Safeguarding & Quality: Implementing best‑practice policies and ensuring safe, ethical service delivery.

  • Programme Support: Working closely with our Head of Programmes & Services to match volunteers to roles.

  • Community Building: Creating a warm, inclusive volunteer community that reflects our values.

This is a strategic and hands‑on leadership role — perfect for someone who wants to build something meaningful from the ground up.

What You Bring

You don’t need to have worked in a charity before — what matters most is leadership, empathy, and a passion for people.

You may be:

  • Experienced in volunteer management, HR, community organising, coaching, or people development

  • Skilled at building relationships and inspiring others

  • Organised, proactive, and able to create structure where none exists yet

  • Someone who understands the challenges faced by NEET adults or who brings lived experience

  • A believer in community, empowerment, and second chances

Above all, you bring heart, integrity, and a commitment to helping people help others.

What You Gain

  • A senior leadership role in a growing social impact start‑up

  • The chance to build a volunteer programme from the ground up

  • Real influence over how adults in East London access support

  • Experience in leadership, volunteer management, and charity development

  • A meaningful legacy — your work will shape the volunteer culture for years to come

This is an opportunity to build the beating heart of our organisation.

If you’re ready to help us lead change, we’d love to hear from you.
