Streets of Growth is seeking to employ an experienced, motivated, and personable individual to work as part of the frontline team to deliver targeted street work to engage and build relationships of trust with high-risk vulnerable young people (15-25 years), in hotspot areas known for Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB), exploitation, serious youth violence and young people that are furthest away from engaging in services.

You should expect to be appointed at the starting point of the salary scale and a higher starting salary band is dependent on you having extensive experience and skills in street work and detached outreach work as well as relevant frontline experience of working with at-risk young people.

The role:

Taking on a lead role to deliver targeted street work and outreach across the borough of Tower Hamlets. This involves engaging and building relationships of trust with young people at street level and in identified hotspot areas of risk where there is low to high anti-social behaviour, criminality and violence. Working with and engaging young people in strategic interventions across Lifestyle, Enterprise/Employability, Education and Environment that constructively challenge negative patterns of behaviour, create an experience for positive thinking, confidence building, entrepreneurial work skills, and tapping into the young person’s ambition, potential and talent.

You will have senior responsibility with the Frontline Director to plan and execute street work and outreach delivery in identified hotspot areas or risk based on street/community and partner intelligence. As well as holding a small street-engaged caseload of young people and providing a lead responsibility to deliver appropriate targeted intervention work during critical incidents in the community.

Who we are looking for:

Along with a relevant professional qualification at level 3 or degree level, you will have significant frontline experience working with young people, including experience in detached outreach work with young people and experience working with at-risk, vulnerable young people. You will also have good knowledge of safeguarding risk assessment and contextual safeguarding in addition to good practice in engaging young people.

We are the UK’s student mental health charity. We challenge the higher education sector, health sector, and government to work with students when making decisions that impact them, and make them accountable for prioritising student mental health. ROLE PURPOSE
The Programme Liaison Officer (full-time, fixed-term contract for 18 months, with possibility to extend) will join the expanding Sector Improvement Team. They will provide vital administration, communication and digital liaison and support required to successfully run and deliver the University Mental Health Charter Programme and Award, achieve the Sector Improvement Team’s key objectives, and contribute to the whole charity’s mission and goals.  This is an exciting opportunity to help the team scale the University Mental Health Charter, with the potential to impact 2.5 million staff and students across the UK.

This role will include responding to queries, liaising with assessors, universities and general enquiries. The post holder will be responsible for working with the team to develop and monitor our HUB and digital platforms, for developing regular newsletters and working with colleagues to liaise with the many stakeholders involved in the assessment and programme processes.

Key responsibilities 

Liaison support

• Provide effective liaison and administrative support to the Sector Improvement Programme(s), working closely with the Sector Improvement Lead and Programme Managers to ensure thesuccessful delivery of the programmes
• Support the planning and delivery of key Sector Improvement Programme activities such as the Winter Panel and the recruitment of the Award Assessors, CPD training and responding togeneral enquiries
• Act as the first point of contact for key stakeholders’ inquiries through the Charter Inbox and Student Minds’ Hub

Digital and resources support

• Utilise project management tools to manage work, deadlines and workflows alongside relevant colleagues to ensure timely and quality programme delivery
• Support the development of resources and documents for the charter, including newsletters, HUB announcements, Charter Handbook etc.
• Work closely with the Comms and Digital Team internally to develop and communicate clear timelines and resources needed throughout the year
• Support the annual onboarding of the Charter Programme, supporting the administrative tasks for the process, including some financial support. Lead on bringing together and distributing key documents such as welcome packs, Charter Framework documents etc.
• Support the coordinator (Programme and HUB) to onboard universities and Assessors to the HUB, and develop and grow the platform for members
• Update and oversee the Sector Improvement annual calendar of events and key activities/deliverables and share with the wider Student Minds team, identifying where dates may need to be moved
• Actively participate in the testing and embedding of new digital systems being led by the Digital
• Product Manager to increase efficiency and engagement for the Sector Improvement Programme and organisation as a whole for example collating product requirements

Financial support

• Work with the Programme Support Officer and finance colleagues to ensure correct processes and procedures are followed accurately and compliant with finance requirements
• Act as a secondary card holder for the team, making online purchases such as accommodation and travel bookings and following policies, procedures and guidance in the correct and responsible use of the Student Minds card

Data and process administration

• Administer data princesses for the University Mental Health Charter Programme and Award process, in line with Data Protection Guidelines
• Collate evaluation data from Sector Improvement events (online and in person)
• Create essential documents requested by the Sector Improvement Programme team, to support programme delivery and scalability
• Use our database(s) to manage relationships and communications with programme participants and key stakeholders, ensuring it is always up-to-date
• Support the Sector Improvement Team and Award Managers to enable efficient Award
• Assessment accreditation processes
• Maintain key working relationships with our network of Assessors and University Award Leads, addressing queries, scheduling and minuting award panels, sharing actions with the team

Working together

• Work closely with the Programme Support Officer to successfully deliver all aspects of the role, including managing the relationships with universities and logistical aspects (e.g. bookings, finances), ensuring tasks are picked between roles and when required
• Work closely with colleagues in the Student Space team and Training teams to embed cross- programme working within Student Minds.
• Attend various programme-related meetings, actively contributing ideas to continually develop our Programmes
• Stay updated on developments in Higher Education and gather insights from sector partners to feed into team decisions
• Look for opportunities to develop systems and processes to improve ways of working and participate in discussions on the Sector Improvement Team development and improvement

We are now looking for an experienced and innovative individual to support the engagement and outreach of our Young Women’s Service.

The successful candidate will be experienced in developing and delivering creative Gender Based Violence (GBV) prevention programs and confident to successfully engage young women in a wide range of settings including schools, colleges, youth programs & pupil referral units to raise awareness, challenge and positively influence the attitudes and behaviours that normalise GBV in this peer group. You will receive training on delivering GBV Resilience Programs that build psychological and emotional resilience in young people (YP) to strengthen protective factors to promote positive mental and emotional well-being in YP. You will co-produce and deliver training and awareness raising work for professionals, including first responders and managers in GBV related services / mental health provisions, educational centres and non-abusing family members and carers to facilitate appropriate response towards YP at risk. 

About you

You will therefore be skilled in nurturing and developing YP voices and active engagement within such forums. You will be skilled at working alongside young women with an acute awareness of how to successfully co-create and co-deliver training packages to professionals and the wider community, thus centralising YP as the leaders and change agents in the project.

The position is a dual role. You’ll join as the organisation’s sole dedicated Youth Worker and will lead on a portion of Free to Be’s year-round follow-on support for vulnerable young people who we have initially engaged via our Thrive Outside residentials. This will involve working with a member of the management team to run our Young Leader and Mentoring programmes as well as working one to one with a small caseload of our children who have more complex needs.

You’ll also help lead at least 10 of our residential projects across each year - working on the ground with the children, leading the volunteers, and helping make the projects special, safe, and transformative for vulnerable young people.

Key Responsibilities: 

1. Youth Work (approx. 60% of workload):

When not on residentials (see below), you’ll help to lead the delivery of our year-round work. All of our young people come to us initially through our Thrive Outside ‘Gateway’ residentials. Through that residential week they’ll build deep trust with the organisation. Many however have complex life situations requiring longer term support. Your role will be to deliver and lead the youth work elements of this longer-term support. This will include:

a)     Co-lead our ‘Young Leader’ Programme. This programme currently consists of a weekend residential training project to skill up young people, aged 14-17, who have previously attended residentials as younger children, to return as volunteers on those projects. Young Leaders also attend a thank you and feedback weekend each Autumn. We have recently begun to develop this programme further to offer greater year-round support including 1:1 keywork and support through challenges; sessions focusing on life skills development; linking them into work experience/capacity building experiences. We would also like to develop a ‘Youth Board’ or similar in the coming couple of years. You will lead the youth development aspects of the programme: delivering support sessions and keywork to Young Leaders, arranging development opportunities, building participation, and growing the offer over time. 

b)     Hold a small caseload of higher need young people. Working with a caseload of 4-6 young people at any one time you will deliver targeted 1:1 keywork sessions supporting young people with significant needs – offering advice, support, activities, and crucially help to work through sensitive or complex issues including difficult relationships with parents/carers; low school attendance; challenges with emotional/mental health.

c)      Hold a small caseload of volunteer mentors and their mentees - providing regular support, supervision, and guidance meetings to the mentors; ensure mentors are running sessions safely and in line with policy; leading Start of Mentoring meetings with children, parents and mentors; taking the lead on liaising with the wider network of support around the child Including advocacy, attending multi agency meetings and safeguarding referrals. Mentoring is one of Free to Be's follow-on programmes.

d)      of support, building on relationships built during our Initial residentials. Volunteer mentors are matched to our existing young people requiring ongoing support, and then offer regular sessions for at least a year with a focus on building young people's confidence and emotional health.

2. Thrive Outside Project Coordination (approx. 40% of workload):

Our residential projects are immersive, exhausting in all the right ways, and full of opportunities for children to feel included, valued and successful. Children usually spend 5 days at a time with us - many will paddle in the sea for the first time, play hide and seek in the woods, build rafts, canoe across lakes, visit farms, forests, ruined castles and splash through streams. A small number of projects are camping based, but most run from a variety of residential centres that we hire for the purpose. The majority of  these projects take place during the school holidays.

We want you to play a key part in at least 10 such projects a year. Initially spending time in the different project roles (working intensively with small groups of children; providing floating support to the project coordinators; perhaps overseeing catering or driving our minibusses.). Once you are familiar with the way  projects work, we will support you to progress to lead and coordinate them, working alongside a member of our staff team or an experienced volunteer. This will involve managing teams of between 5 and 25 volunteers, to oversee the wellbeing of between 8 and 20 children and young people per project.

Jointly with the other project coordinator, you will:

• Take lead responsibility for the organisation, structure, and safe running of the project.

• Provide leadership, support and direction to the project’s volunteer team. Set the tone and ethos of   the project, understand and model Free to Be’s approach to supporting young people, and lead the team to create the best experience possible for the children.

• Build excellent working relationships with Free to Be’s children and young people, ensuring they feel welcomed and included and that their safety and support needs are fully met during the project.

•  Support the volunteer team to respond effectively and in a positive manner to children presenting behaviour,risk issues (including safeguarding issues), or other challenges which may arise.

• Liaise with the parents/carers of Free to Be children, building positive and supportive relationships, understanding many may have been let down by statutory or other organisations in the past.

• Work to ensure safety and quality standards on residentials are of the highest level by ensuring Free toBe’s policies and processes, (including safeguarding, health and safety) are implemented at all times and issues are efficiently and constructively problem-solved, with the support of the leadership team.

•  Be the ultimate problem solver on the project - anything can happen, and frequently does!

As a small but fast-growing charity, we may also, from time to time, ask you to step in and support with other tasks in line with the development of the organisation.

The role

As Welfare Officer you will work alongside four National Support Coordinators, ensuring our members receive welfare and benefit related information, advice, and guidance via telephone, zoom meetings, and email.

This role is based within the Wiltshire DVPP (Domestic Violence Perpetrator Programme) Team which delivers domestic abuse services across Wiltshire.

This position is based within our Behaviour Change team and focuses on working with low to medium risk perpetrators of domestic abuse on a one-to-one basis, with the aim of supporting people to change their behavior.

In addition, you will support the delivery of the CPR (Choosing Positive Relationships) Domestic Violence Perpetrator Programme (DVPP), which is an intensive behaviour change programme, designed to increase knowledge and understanding around domestic abuse, the impact on children and healthy relationships. The course teaches tools and strategies to help someone change their behaviour. The CPR group will require weekly evening work in Wiltshire.

The key duties for this role are to:

• Co-facilitate the delivery of our CPR perpetrator group-work programme one evening per week.
• Deliver one to one support sessions for perpetrators based around: understanding domestic abuse, managing aggressive behavior, recognising the impact that abuse has on others.
• Work closely with the rest of the Behaviour Change to promote a ‘whole family approach’ to addressing domestic abuse and prioritise safety for the victim.
• Work closely with multi-agency partners, particularly Children’s Social Care, ensuring a focus on risk and safeguarding.

In this job, you will play a vital role in driving up awareness of the Mental Health Charter with businesses, organisations, and service providers across the borough of Barnet.

To begin with, you’ll use your organisational and project management skills to work with the steering group to create an action plan. With their support, you’ll use your operational communications experience to work with all partners to develop and create presentations and other promotional materials, such as flyers and posters. You will also take photos at engagement activities for partners to promote the project on their respective social media platforms.

Then, using your excellent interpersonal skills you will build on existing relationships with key stakeholders and create new ones. Travelling around the borough of Barnet you will proactively approach, encourage and support a diverse audience of businesses, organisations, and service providers to make pledges to the charter and later follow up on their progress.

On a day to day basis, you will record activities against key performance indicators, accurately record and analyse feedback using surveys and data management tools.

Additionally, you will organise and attend monthly Steering Group meetings following key project management principles to report on the overall progress of the project against targets.

ROLE OVERVIEW

Working closely in a small and dedicated team, this is a critical position that will ensure the recruitment, engagement and progression of women who take part in our empowerment programmes. 

Location: SHED co-working space for 2 days a week or at venues in London for our core programme with women and option to work remotely 1 day a week 

Salary: £22,800 for 3 days a week (£38,000 FTE) plus a 5.25% staff pension subject to employee contribution of 1.75% 

Hours: Normal working hours are 9:30am-5:30pm 

Holiday: 15 days per annum (FTE 25 days)

Contract: 6 months (3 months probation) 

The primary purpose of this role is to ensure:

• Effective outreach for recruitment onto our programmes
• That women’s programmes run smoothly and that their participants are motivated and supported to complete them through to graduation
• That those women who require 1-1 time with you are provided with this to ensure their safety and to make any referrals to external agencies where required
• All those we work with for the benefit of women on the programmes are engaged eg. short work placement hosts, mentors and venues for activities
• That evaluation data is collected and provided to evaluators/ researchers who edit final annual reports for programmes
• All data is kept accurate, appropriate and secure

KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Timetabling online and face-to-face outreach to ensure women are recruited onto programmes in a timely way
• Being the key safeguarding lead at Friday workshops and ensuring that you make 1-1 time for any women who require it (alerting the Head of Operations and People and the CEO and wider team any issues or concerns that need addressing)
• Liaising with the Programmes Coordinator on the timely production of workshop materials and any other course content useful for participants
• Maintaining excellent relationships with workshop providers
• Ensuring that the Programmes Coordinator is across needs for any 1-1 therapy referrals between women and our float of freelance therapists
• Conducting evaluation surveys with women at the start, end and 6 months after they graduate and ensuring all evaluation data is provided to the freelancer responsible for collating the impact of our programmes annually in a final report, as well as providing any data required by the CEO for grant reports
• Signing off on mentor-mentee matches with the Partnerships Manager who recruits mentors
• Working closely with the Partnerships Manager to ensure they are across which kinds of short expenses/ paid work placements with employers women want to access

PERSON SPECIFICATION

You will be someone who is naturally warm/ a people person, compassionate and enabling, and who also has fantastic project management/ organisational skills. You may come from a senior youth worker background or other front line organisations working with young vulnerable adults.

Essential:

• Substantial senior experience working with young, including vulnerable, adults
• Proven track record of project/ programme management experience to deliver successful learning/ educational events/ activities for young people
• Creative thinker with experience of conducting successful outreach for young people
• Experience of safeguarding with vulnerable individuals
• Exceptional people and relationship-building skills with those from a range of different backgrounds eg ranging from young women for our programmes to employers and other stakeholders who engage with our work and participants 
• Excellent written and verbal communication 
• Highly organised multi-tasker, with a personality that works calmly under pressure and with own initiative
• Proof of strategic programme leadership

Desirable:

• Trained as a First Aider

We are recruiting for a Peer Support Lead: 

The Hepatitis C Trust has developed projects nationally whereby peers use their lived experience of injecting drug use and hepatitis C, to provide education and training to increase awareness of hepatitis C, reduce stigma, and promote access to testing and treatment for people living with hepatitis C across Bristol & Weston areas. 

Do you have experience of working in drug services and with volunteers? Have you been affected by hepatitis C or have you supported anyone who has hepatitis C? We are looking for a passionate and skilled peer lead who has excellent communication and organisational skills. We require a good standard of education and welcome creativity and innovation in all our work.  

Working as part of a growing team, this post will continue the development and delivery of the Hepatitis C peer project, recruiting and supporting volunteer peers across Bristol and surrounding areas. Working in partnership with hepatitis C clinical teams, drug and alcohol services and homeless service providers, the post will coordinate delivery of educational workshops, promote and facilitate increased testing for HCV, targeting marginalised and disadvantaged communities and ensuring referral and ongoing support through treatment and harm reduction approaches to prevent reinfection and other harms among PWID. 

As an Outreach & Development Worker you will ensure carers of all ages and backgrounds are aware of their rights and know how to receive support from Gaddum and other services they need at the right time for them. 

You will provide outreach & support sessions, deliver groups and events for carers and other relevant partners across Salford. Creating exciting new opportunities for carers through networking and building partnerships.
