The Organisation

Operating on a not-for-profit basis, the Inn generates the majority of its circa £25m income through its property portfolio, alongside catering, events and services to members, tenants and the public. The organisation has around 160 employees and a well-established finance team of 6. It has a unique structure, sitting outside of a typical company or charity model, but follows UK GAAP and FRS principles where appropriate. The Job
Reporting to the Director of Finance, you will lead on financial reporting, management accounts, budgeting, forecasting, controls, cashflow and audit, ensuring strong financial governance.
This is a broad, hands-on job combining technical delivery with senior stakeholder engagement.
Key responsibilities:
The Person
You will be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with strong senior finance experience.
Key skills and experience:
Experience within the charity, not for profit or membership sector would be advantageous, but not essential. Payroll experience is beneficial.
This is a small team environment, so they are looking for someone who is collaborative, approachable and enjoys being part of a social team.

Prospectus are delighted to be supporting our client in their search for a Head of Financial Reporting and Processing. The organisation works with schools, teachers and leaders across the country to ensure every child, regardless of background, has the opportunity to thrive. This newly created role will play a critical role in strengthening their finance function at a pivotal moment for the organisation. Reporting to the Executive Director of Finance & Performance, you’ll lead their Financial Reporting & Processing team and be responsible for the end‑to‑end financial processing and reporting framework across the charity.
You’ll be a qualified accountant, and have extensive experience leading high performing teams, ideally through periods of significant change, as well as a solid understanding of what excellent financial management looks like. This role offers the chance for you to shape operating models, embed best practice, and lead meaningful change. Most importantly, you’ll be motivated by purpose and excited to use your expertise to support a charity working to end educational disadvantage. You’ll be working closely with senior finance leaders, the Chair of the Finance Risk & Audit Committee, and external auditors, and will directly line manage a team of four.

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Head of Finance with a children’s charity, on a full-time, permanent basis. As Head of Finance, you will play a critical role in strengthening financial management, reporting, and control across the charity. This is a hands-on senior role responsible for ensuring robust financial processes, accurate reporting, and effective financial planning that supports the organisation’s mission and strategic objectives.
There is hybrid working in place with this organisation with 2 days per week in their London office.
As Head of Finance, you will:
- Lead the improvement, documentation and implementation of financial reporting processes and procedures
- Support with the preparation and coordination of annual, multi-year budgets and financial plans, working collaboratively with budget holders to ensure that these align with the charity’s strategy
- Ensure robust financial processes and controls are in place for grant-making, including accurate recording, reconciliation, and clear audit trails
- Act as a key driver in improving financial systems, reporting structures, and processes across the organisation
- Report into the Director of Finance and Operations and provide line management to the Senior Finance Officer and Grants & Finance Administrator
The successful applicant will:
- Have significant demonstrable experience in finance within the charity sector, in a similar role
- Be ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent fully qualified
- Have significant experience in a finance role with responsibility for financial reporting and controls
- Have experience of reviewing and developing financial systems and procedures
- Have significant experience of preparation and presentation of financial and management reports
- Have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
