Global Communications Lead, Breathe Cities

Location: London

We are seeking a Global Communications Lead to increase international media and recognition for Breathe Cities among city leaders, policymakers, and funders, owning a communications strategy that positions the initiative as the leading model for urban air quality action.

This a key role, shaping narrative and messaging, delivering impactful media and digital cut-through, and amplifying city-level communications in regional and global fora. 

You will be adept at translating complex evidence into clear, compelling messages, bring a strong global perspective, take editorial quality seriously, and be confident managing a communications team across a multi-partner initiative. 

This role requires someone who is well versed in managing communications teams and agencies, able to work confidently with senior leaders, city leadership and partners, and skilled at balancing pace with rigour in a multi-stakeholder environment. 

What We’re Looking For

• Senior communications experience (across philanthropy, international NGO, government/cities, or public interest communications).
• Exercises sound judgment and discretion with a strong understanding of how decisions get made in and around city government, and the ability to navigate complex, fast-moving stakeholder environments with diplomacy and good judgement.  
• Demonstrated experience leading and developing teams and managing agencies to deliver high-quality communications outcomes.
• Demonstrated experience working across complex, multi-stakeholder organisations and environments, with a track record of building strategic alignment and agile delivery mechanisms.
• Proven ability to advise senior leaders/spokespeople in high-stakes, reputation-sensitive contexts, including anticipating flashpoints and shaping messages that are accurate, credible and tailored across different audiences.
• Strong track record of shaping narratives and securing high-quality earned media coverage (features, comment, op-eds, spokesperson profiling).
• Excellent writing and editing skills across press materials, speeches/talking points and briefings.
• Strong judgement on risk, accuracy and credibility; calm under pressure and able to handle reactive moments.
• Proficient in using the latest Microsoft 365 tools, comfortable with cloud-based platforms like Microsoft Teams and SharePoint, adaptable to new ways of working, and an excellent understanding of basic cyber security and data protection hygiene.

We’re looking for an experienced Payroll & Systems Manager to take ownership of payroll governance and HR/payroll systems for an organisation of around 350 staff, spanning salaried, hourly, and casual contracts. Payroll is outsourced, but this role is very much hands-on. You’ll be the expert voice in the room, the bridge between People & Culture, Finance, and our payroll provider, and the lead on shaping better, smarter systems for the future.

What you’ll be doing

• Owning the end-to-end payroll process, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and full UK statutory compliance

• Acting as the internal payroll specialist, confidently reviewing calculations, deductions, pensions, and statutory payments

• Managing payroll inputs for variable hours and timesheet-based staff

• Building a strong, effective relationship with our outsourced payroll provider and holding service standards high

• Spotting risks, fixing inefficiencies, and reducing manual workarounds through better processes and cleaner data

• Leading the selection and implementation of a new HR and payroll system, from business case to go-live

• Acting as system owner post-implementation, ensuring controls, optimisation, and user confidence

The Programme Manager role is suited to someone with experience delivering youth development programmes, ideally focused on employability, and who is passionate about supporting young people to succeed in the world of work. We are looking for passionate individuals to provide intensive casework, support, and day-to-day guidance for women in our services. You'll play a vital role in delivering safety advice and information, including around domestic abuse and independent living, while co-producing personalised Support and Safety Plans that build on each woman's strengths and goals.

Your work will include liaising with statutory bodies such as Social Services to ensure safeguarding responsibilities are met, supporting housing needs and move-on accommodation, and facilitating empowering social activities and workshops that promote confidence, self-esteem, and assertiveness.

This role helps to fulfil the core charitable function of Dreams Come True - coordinating the different elements of the child's dream, delivering each one in the most magical, efficient, and cost-effective way possible. You will be involved in the dream process from application stage all the way through to dream delivery, collecting feedback, and then sharing the families feedback/experience as a written case study or dream story.

Sounds great, what will I be doing?

You will support a caseload of 20 – 25 clients to find competitive and sustained employment. Around 20% of referrals will be to assist clients to remain in work if struggling, or return to work, if off sick. Employment Specialists will follow the 8 principles of IPS, adhere to the IPS Fidelity Scale and achieve monthly targets and KPIs with the required administration and compliance.

With excellent communication and interpersonal skills, you will confidently engage with clients, stakeholders, and partners, building effective relationships and delivering creative, solution-focused support. You will be highly organised, able to manage your time, prioritise tasks, and work to deadlines in an outcome-driven environment.

You will demonstrate a positive, professional, and self-motivated approach, with a genuine belief in the value of employment in improving wellbeing and independence. Strong assessment, action planning, and record-keeping skills are essential, alongside proficiency in Microsoft Office and database systems. Sounds great, what will I be doing?

Our family women refuge's offer holistic support in order to empower women and their children who have experienced trauma to lead their recovery and gain the skills and confidence to move on safely. The Team Manager is responsible for the operational running and strategic direction of the refuge. Providing line management and leadership to the staff team, leading on contract and compliance and the safety, security and maintenance of the refuge, ensuring that the building aligns with our PIPE (Psychologically Informed Physical Environment) building standards and rental income is secured. 

The Team Manager plays a central role in ensuring the refuge is a safe, trauma-informed, and welcoming space for women and children fleeing domestic abuse. They promote an inclusive, anti-racist, and feminist approach while upholding Hestia's values of respect, dedication, and collaboration. Core responsibilities include overseeing day-to-day service delivery, ensuring compliance with safeguarding protocols, and facilitating the safe transition of service users. The manager ensures the team delivers high-quality, person-centred support, particularly for individuals with complex or intersectional needs.

In terms of operational and building management, the Team Manager is responsible for maintaining the safety, cleanliness, and functionality of the refuge in line with health and safety and PIPE (Psychologically Informed Physical Environment) standards. This includes managing relationships with landlords and housing teams, authorising repairs, handling rent collection and arrears, and addressing any security concerns. They also oversee the accurate and timely turnaround of vacant units and uphold positive community relations to ensure the refuge remains a secure and respected environment.

The role also involves leading and developing a high-performing team, ensuring all staff are well-supported through supervision, reflective practice, and training opportunities. The manager upholds staffing levels, supports volunteers and students, and manages performance and conduct issues where necessary. Quality assurance and compliance duties include monitoring performance against KPIs, using systems like INFORM and Power BI, handling feedback and complaints, and ensuring financial accountability. They also represent Hestia in strategic planning, external networks, and multi-agency partnerships to strengthen service delivery and community integration.

Here's what the team will be looking for

The ideal candidate should possess a solid general education, ideally with Level 2 qualifications in Maths and English, along with strong written and verbal communication skills. They should either hold a SafeLives Service Manager qualification or be willing to work towards it. Experience in supervising staff and delivering high-quality support to individuals with diverse needs and risks is essential, as is a strong understanding of risk assessment and management in domestic abuse contexts. A good grasp of performance monitoring, welfare benefits, housing legislation—particularly the rights of domestic abuse survivors under the Domestic Abuse Act 2021—is also required.

Applicants should demonstrate a strong background in working within domestic abuse services, whether in the community or in a refuge setting. They must understand and value co-production, ensuring services are developed in partnership with those who use them. Effective communication skills are key, along with confidence in using IT systems such as Microsoft Office, Teams, and Power BI. A clear understanding of safeguarding practices and health and safety legislation is crucial, with the ability to implement relevant policies effectively.

The role demands emotional resilience and the ability to work under pressure, especially in crisis situations involving traumatised or vulnerable women and children. A strong commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusive practices is essential, as is the ability to work independently within established policies and procedures. Flexibility and the ability to travel within the borough and beyond when required are also necessary for this position.

This is a culturally specific service, and as such, it is a genuine occupational requirement that applicants speak one or more South Asian languages in addition to English.
