Due to service development, we have a fantastic opportunity for a dedicated and enthusiastic Volunteer and Participation Co-ordinator to join Barnardo's as part of the East Berkshire Keyworking Service for Children and Young People with Learning Disability and/or Autism. We currently have one full time post available on a permanent contract. Would you like the chance to recruit, train and support Lived Experience Peer Support Volunteers who can make a difference to Children, Young People with SEND (up to 25 years) and their families? Covering Bracknell, Slough and the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead, it is essential to hold a valid UK driving licence with access to your own vehicle. As a Volunteer Co-ordinator, you will have passion, commitment and be confident in the delivery of training and supporting personal development for Lived Experience Peer Support Volunteers. You will work as part of the keyworker team to ensure we provide the right support at the right time, in the right way.

The role provides lots of opportunities to develop your skill set, knowledge and career progression going forward. The service has a comprehensive training offer for all staff and volunteers.

To be a successful, you will need to have the following:

• An understanding of the difference Lived Experience Peer Support Volunteers make and the support required, including providing line management and supervision
• An understanding of the needs of children and young people with Learning Disability and or Autism
• The ability to confidently present information to a range of people, delivering workshops, attending recruitment fairs etc.
• Excellent team working skills. You will work as part of a team that covers East Berkshire
• Safeguarding knowledge and good recording skills
• The ability to efficiently organise events for service users and their families to socialise
• Use of a car

This Volunteer Manager role focuses on recruiting, training, and supporting volunteers to ensure effective program delivery and strong community engagement. Key responsibilities of the Volunteer Manager include developing outreach strategies and partnerships to attract diverse volunteers, coordinating interviews and background checks, and providing orientation and ongoing training.
The role also involves matching volunteers to suitable roles, managing schedules, monitoring performance, and fostering a positive, inclusive volunteer culture through recognition initiatives. Additionally, it requires maintaining accurate volunteer records, reporting on impact to stakeholders, and collaborating closely with managers while representing the organisation at community events.

About the role 

Volunteers are vital to Parkinson’s UK; they provide high valued support and services through local branches, groups and cafes. This rewarding role provides the opportunity to work directly with volunteers, together making a positive difference to the lives of people affected by Parkinson’s. 

You’ll act as the main point of contact and support for volunteers in local branches, groups and cafes. As part of an integrated regional team, you’ll contribute to shared plans and priorities. Working remotely and in person, you’ll provide the highest quality customer care and support volunteers in line with the charity’s governance requirements, as well as our policies and procedures. You’ll provide high quality business support to colleagues to promote volunteering opportunities and bring volunteers together in the local community.

What you’ll do:

• Provide excellent customer service to local group volunteers through remote and in-person support. 

• Support volunteers to lead their groups in line with governance requirements through provision of information and relevant tools. 

• Maintain relevant data on local group activities, or support lead volunteers to do so. 

• Produce regular reports for performance reporting and monitoring. 

• Collaborate and liaise with colleagues across the charity, as appropriate, to provide excellent customer service to volunteers in the community.

What you’ll bring:

• Strong volunteer support skills and an ability to work in a user-focused and inclusive way. 

• Ability to manage and prioritise own workload whilst working collaboratively across a dispersed team of colleagues and volunteers. 

• Proven ability to take a solution focused approach, supporting with queries raised by volunteers. 

• Ability to confidently support group volunteers with budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting. 

• Practical experience of maintaining accurate data using administrative systems and databases.

As Volunteer and Community Support Officer you will support the London & South East Area Manager and Regional Managers with volunteer recruitment, documentation of training (such as DBS, references, Food Safety Level 2, First Aid), giving our volunteers a fantastic experience, guest outreach and giving extra support to our London & South East projects as and when required to aid development within the region.

As well as projects across London, our projects include projects across the South Coast and South East and this role will require regular visits across the area.

Job Summary for Volunteering Assistant

The Volunteering Assistant supports the Head of Volunteering in delivering the organisation’s strategy by strengthening volunteer management, engagement, and development. Working across departments, the role ensures smooth day-to-day volunteering operations, supports both volunteers and role managers, and contributes to projects that enhance the overall volunteer experience.

Key responsibilities

• Provide administrative support to the volunteering function, including managing the volunteering inbox and maintaining accurate data
• Support volunteer recruitment, onboarding, and engagement activities across programmes 
• Assist role managers and volunteers, ensuring compliance with organisational standards and processes 
• Coordinate volunteer events, communications, and recognition initiatives 
• Maintain systems and resources (e.g., intranet/SharePoint) to ensure up-to-date information 
• Monitor engagement metrics and contribute to improvements in volunteer experience 
• Contribute to wider projects, guidance, and best practice across volunteering
