It’s what we’ve been doing since 1891 and how we’ve grown to become the UK’s leading dog charity, helping 12,000 loyal friends find their forever homes every year.

About Action for Pulmonary Fibrosis
Action for Pulmonary Fibrosis (APF) is the UK’s leading patient charity dedicated to improving the lives of individuals and families affected by pulmonary fibrosis. Our mission is underpinned by values of compassionate, bold, expert and collaborative. We believe in creating a supportive environment in which both our employees and beneficiaries can thrive.
Founded in 2013 by people affected by PF and clinicians, APF has grown into a respected national charity rooted in community and evidence. We provide trusted information and support, help a growing network of support groups, campaign to improve access to care and invest in research to bring hope of new treatments. APF strives to be an organisation of equity and inclusion, welcoming people from all backgrounds – our team and volunteers aim to reflect the diverse communities we serve.
We have just launched an ambitious five-year strategy (2025–2030), co-created with the PF community, which focuses on expanding support, transforming care, and accelerating research. This strategy marks a step change with a clearer focus, stronger delivery model and greater ambition to ensure no one faces pulmonary fibrosis alone.
Role Purpose
We are looking for a Senior Education and Events Officer to coordinate and deliver our education and events programme for people affected by pulmonary fibrosis, healthcare professionals and wider stakeholders.
This is a hands-on role at the heart of APF’s work. You will plan and deliver education sessions, webinars, conferences and events, making sure they are welcoming, accessible, well organised and shaped around the needs of the people we support.
You will manage the full attendee journey, from registration and communications through to delivery, feedback and follow-up. You will also coordinate APF’s presence at external conferences, work with speakers, clinicians and partners, and help ensure people who engage with our events can easily access wider APF information, support and opportunities.
We are looking for someone with strong experience of organising events, education sessions, webinars, training or similar activity. You will be highly organised, confident working with a wide range of stakeholders and comfortable managing logistics, digital platforms, databases and attendee communications.
You will also be confident hosting or supporting sessions both online and in person, and able to use feedback and data to improve future activity.
This is a great opportunity to help APF deliver high-quality education and events that give people affected by pulmonary fibrosis practical information, reassurance and confidence throughout their journey.
To apply, please submit a CV and a covering letter of no more than two pages outlining your suitability for the role and how your skills and experience meet the requirements of the job description.
Interviews will be held on a rolling basis, so we encourage interested candidates to apply as soon as possible.

Who we are
We are OUTpatients, the UK’s LGBTIQ+ cancer charity. Proudly led by and for our community, we are here to shake up the system, advocate for equity, and stand up for every LGBTIQ+ person affected by cancer. Our passion to support others is born out of personal experience; we understand what it’s like to not see yourself reflected in the services you use, and feel like you are left in the margins at a time when you most need personalised support. That is why we host peer support, educate healthcare professionals and help to shape national policy so that nobody has to go through cancer alone.
The position
The Chief Medical Officer is one of three new senior leadership roles we're creating alongside our CEO, the first time OUTpatients has built a leadership team of this kind. Although the role is part-time, just one day a week, its influence is not: you'll be the clinical conscience of everything we produce, and a trusted voice for LGBTIQ+ people affected by cancer within the NHS and medical sector.
Working at the intersection of oncology and LGBTIQ+ health equity, you'll ensure our resources, training and peer support are always backed by rigorous clinical evidence and safe, reliable quality standards, giving our small team the confidence to support people safely. Beyond quality assurance, you'll act as a trusted spokesperson and policy voice, opening doors within the NHS and cancer sector that a patient-led charity alone cannot.
Working closely with our incoming Chief Operating Officer and Head of Fundraising & Business Development, and reporting directly to our CEO, your clinical judgement will directly shape how safely and credibly we're able to grow.
To learn more about the role, please read the attached Job Description.
