This is an opportunity to join Refuge as a Deputy Service Manager to support survivors who have been impacted by domestic abuse. We are recruiting for a Deputy Service Manager who is passionate about supporting survivors who are impacted by domestic abuse. In this role you will provide line management and support to community-based staff who support survivors of domestic abuse across Derby City.  This will include providing supervision on complex casework, overseeing operational emergencies and ensuring high standards of casework.

The Deputy service manager will join our management team to assist the service manager in the delivery and development of high-quality support to survivors accessing our community-based services in Derby City. In this role you will ensure the smooth running of high-quality service to support survivors of domestic abuse. This will include managing staff teams to ensure effective advocacy is provided to survivors who are at medium/standard risk and their children. 

A key requirement is to provide personal welfare support and to ensure that survivors are provided with a safe, supportive outreach service

Suitable candidates must have proven experience of providing direct emotional and practical support, and of managing case work. In addition, you must have experience of managing and motivating staff, knowledge of domestic abuse issues, experience of providing support to survivors, and experience of working in community-based services

As a member of the management team, you will be required to participate in an out-of-hours on call service, on a rota basis, responding to out of hours emergencies.

One in 20 adults in the UK has never learnt to read at all. This can have a serious impact on their confidence and wellbeing, limiting access to training, employment, and everyday opportunities that many take for granted. Being unable to read as an adult can be isolating and dangerous, reinforces social inequality, restricts economic growth, and worsens intergenerational disadvantage - but it is never too late to learn.

Read Easy helps adults transform their lives by learning to read. It does this by supporting its growing network of locally run, volunteer-led affiliated groups that offer free, confidential, one-to-one reading coaching—both in person and online to adults - aged from 18-88. 

With its free, flexible, confidential approach, Read Easy encourages people who are too embarrassed to join a class to come forward for one-to-one support. Each new reader is provided with their own personal Reading Coach, so that they can learn in private and at their own pace. Learning to read transforms their lives in many other ways as well, including enabling them to support their children’s and grandchildren’s reading, and so transfers the benefits to the next generation.

There are currently 80 affiliated Read Easy groups across England, together involving more than a thousand volunteers. Read Easy UK is the registered charity and umbrella organisation which supports this network of affiliated volunteer groups and provides the structure, training and support to enable volunteers to establish groups in new areas.

As our Central Regional Adviser, your role would be to provide strategic leadership, guidance, and oversight to ensure that all volunteer groups consistently deliver high-quality services aligned with Read Easy UK’s strategy.

You will support local volunteer leaders to strengthen group performance, and foster collaboration across affiliated groups, so that that they deliver coaching to Readers with consistent quality, and a positive and worthwhile experience is had by all.

You will also find volunteers to ‘pioneer’ three new groups in the counties where there is no Read Easy presence in the East and West Midlands and East of England and provide them and our 29 existing groups and pioneers in the region, with high-quality support. Your quality support will ensure that they provide the same for their volunteers and new Readers. From meeting (mostly online) with Team Leaders to provide one to one support, and hosting online and annual in-person volunteer forums, to delivering presentations and occasional training for small groups of volunteers, this is a dynamic and rewarding role.

This is a home-based post requiring flexibility, some early evening working and occasional travel to visit groups. The role is available on either a full or part time basis (min 32 hours p/w, 85% of 37.5 hours p/w FTE).

The successful candidate will be expected to:

• Live within one of the following areas: West Midlands (Defined as the 7 metropolitan boroughs of Birmingham, Coventry, Dudley, Sandwell, Solihull, Walsall, and Wolverhampton), Warwickshire, Oxfordshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Northamptonshire, Leicestershire or Rutland;
• have been employed to work with volunteers for at least two years;

YOUR PURPOSE

To research, develop and secure funding, projects and opportunities that deliver DMWS’s charitable objectives and to support ongoing stakeholder management to ensure positive relationships.

This involves researching and applying for funding and contract tender opportunities to support the armed forces community and other frontline services. This will include Trusts and Foundations, corporate partnerships and tenders with organisations that include the military, police, NHS, Fire service and other organisations with frontline roles.

The aim is to secure funds and opportunities to support DMWS beneficiaries and to increase DMWS footprint.

The role will also require report writing to present evidence of DMWS delivering effective value for money and positive impacts for our beneficiaries in line with the funder’s requirements. An ability to also promote our outcomes through case studies and social media posts would also be advantageous.

Travel will be required and some occasional overnights stays can be required.

We are looking for a dynamic Programme Manager. The post-holder will play a key role in managing specific programme and partnership activities in partnership countries such as the Gambia, Kenya and Sierra Leone as well as project management, monitoring and reporting for our cross-partnerships strategic project on strengthening health systems through strengthened postgraduate medical education of health worker.

The post-holder will also support the design and management of new programmes, working closely with the KGHP Director, Head of Programmes, Partnership Leads, Advisors and with our partners.

This is a fantastic opportunity to shape innovative and impactful health systems strengthening programme, rooted in strong local partnerships.

Based in the UK, this role may require line management support to in-country coordinators/UK based Programme Officer(s).The role will require travel for 1 week at a time to monitor projects abroad to our projects/ partnership countries, totalling no more than three times a year.

We are seeking an exceptional Philanthropy Manager to grow impactful giving and strengthen life changing community support across Milton Keynes.

Salary: £38000-£42000 per annum

About the Role

As Philanthropy Manager, you will play a pivotal role in developing and nurturing high value relationships that help drive positive change across Milton Keynes. Working as part of a collaborative and mission focused team, you will connect donors, businesses, fundholders and community partners with the causes that matter most.

You will lead a portfolio of donor relationships, ensuring exceptional stewardship and delivering tailored engagement that inspires long term support. Using your strategic insight, you will develop giving opportunities aligned with community needs, informed by the Foundation’s data and research.

Key responsibilities include:

• Managing and growing a portfolio of high value donors, fundholders and corporate partners.
• Developing and delivering stewardship plans that demonstrate impact and inspire renewed investment.
• Creating compelling cases for support, proposals and reports tailored to donor motivations.
• Leading and supporting donor events, briefings, visits and engagement activities.
• Working closely with colleagues in Programmes, Finance and Communications to ensure funds are allocated effectively and transparently.
• Identifying new prospects and building philanthropic networks across Milton Keynes.
• Representing the organisation professionally at meetings, events and community forums.
• Upholding best practice in compliance, data management and ethical fundraising.

About You

You will be an ambitious and relationship driven fundraising professional with a passion for making a difference. You’ll bring confidence working with senior stakeholders, excellent communication skills and the ability to translate community impact into meaningful philanthropic opportunities.

You will have:

• Experience in major donor fundraising, high value partnerships, or relationship based income generation.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to craft engaging proposals and impact reports.
• The ability to manage a diverse portfolio and prioritise effectively.
• A proactive, collaborative approach and a commitment to outstanding donor care.
• Sound judgement, professionalism and the ability to manage confidential information appropriately.
