We’re looking for a Dad Matters Coordinator to help us reach more families across Brent. This is a brilliant opportunity for someone who understands the emotional ups and downs of becoming a dad and wants to support fathers at a crucial point in their parenting journey.

New dads can face real mental health challenges — often quietly. In this role, you’ll help dads feel listened to, supported and confident, strengthening attachment and helping them access the right support.

What you’ll be doing

• Offering coaching and advice to new dads and dads-to-be

• Having honest conversations about mental health, bonding and wellbeing

• Getting out into the community, approaching dads and building trust

• Developing and running group sessions and workshops

• Working closely with health professionals and local services so dads are included and supported

• Helping grow and support our Dad Matters volunteers

This is a hands-on, community-based role, so you’ll need to be regularly out and about in Brent, building visibility and relationships.

You don’t need formal qualifications in healthcare or mental health. What matters is that you:

• Understand the mental health challenges new dads can face

• Are confident talking to people and putting them at ease

• Have experience in a community, support or people-facing role

• Can lead groups, deliver sessions or training

• Are proactive, approachable and genuinely care about supporting families

Parenting experience and lived experience of key issues are both really valued.

The Role

As a Community Engagement Officer, you will identify, engage and build relationships with underserved local communities to help them access, enjoy and participate more fully with the central parks.

Alongside a small and dedicated team, you’ll help build a thorough understanding of the challenges local communities face by identifying gaps in provision and trialling solutions using a co-creative approach around nature, heritage and wellbeing.

You will become an integral part of our new Access and Engagement team, helping to roll out the new Access and Engagement Plan for the charity, delivering activities in the parks and support the recruitment of new volunteers.

Additionally, you will:

• Contribute to our visitor research programme
• Support access and sensory audits
• Respond to community enquiries and signpost to relevant teams
• Develop new resources to support access to the parks
• Help monitor feedback and evaluate impact

About You

To be considered as a Community Engagement Officer, you will need:

• Experience of successfully engaging London’s underserved communities

The Role

You will support the contract delivery of the Champions programmes, primarily Maths Champions, ensuring contract milestones are met. The Champions programmes are online professional development programmes designed to support early years settings to drive continuous improvement and increase high standards in early education for children from birth to five years, in line with the organisations mission to promote quality in early years for UK and international customers.

Working closely with other Early Years Advisors, delivery partners, managers and cross teams, you will be responsible for the delivery of Champions programmes.

This innovative project is backed by the GLA’s Single Homelessness Accommodation Programme (SHAP), and represents a bold step forward in tackling homelessness across North London. SHP are building a dynamic, compassionate, and forward-thinking team to bring this vision to life. 

St. John’s Mansions will offer 19 beautifully finished self-contained studio flats, designed to support residents in their journey from rough sleeping and emergency accommodation to independent living. With a stay of up to 24 months, residents will receive tailored, high-intensity support to help them build the skills and confidence needed to thrive independently. 

The service will operate 24/7, with a welcoming reception and dedicated staff & clients spaces to enable both structured interventions and spontaneous, meaningful engagement. SHP will be working not only within Islington but in partnership with five North London boroughs - Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Haringey, and Westminster. You’ll hold a caseload of clients and take the lead on delivering person centred, strengths based support that is grounded in PIE and trauma informed approaches. This includes completing holistic assessments, co-producing support plans and risk management plans, and working consistently towards move on goals. Alongside this, you’ll play a key role in the day to day running of the service, working closely with colleagues and partner agencies to maintain a safe, well managed environment, respond to emerging needs, and ensure each client receives coordinated, high quality support that supports their journey into independent living.

Every year, thousands of people in the UK face court alone. Often through no choice of their own, people must represent themselves at a moment that could have life-changing outcomes. This includes loss of access to children or homelessness. At the same time, people facing court alone may find themselves up against a party with legal representation. They are instantly at a disadvantage and overwhelmed by the enormity of the challenges they are up against. We supported unrepresented litigants in the civil and family courts in England and Wales over 45,000 times last year.

We provide a safe space with volunteers who listen to each client’s individual story. Last year, over 1000 volunteers helped people to get their thoughts in order, problem-solve and decide next steps, source relevant and reliable legal information, explain complex procedures, complete court forms, and clearly present statements.

About the Role

The Legal Project Officer coordinates two projects which sit at the heart of ILPA’s legal policy and strategic legal coordination work.

The Legal Project Officer will work closely with the Legal Team (Legal Director and Legal Officer) to run ILPA’s Working Groups and with the Director of Strategic Litigation and Advice in a key role to coordinate strategic legal advice and litigation. The Legal Project Officer also works closely with the rest of the ILPA Secretariat, including the Chief Executive, Content and Digital Channels Manager, Training Manager, and with Trustees, ILPA and SLAC members, the SLAC Steering Committee and convenors of ILPA’s Working Groups.

You will support the organisation and running of ILPA’s thematic Working Groups, which provide a valuable forum for ILPA members to share best practice and discuss issues of current importance, assisting with agenda-setting, presenting updates, following-up on action points, answering queries, and preparing meeting summaries. The overall aim of these activities is to improve immigration, asylum and nationality law, policy and practice. 

You will work with the Director of Strategic Litigation and Advice to develop partnerships with NGOs and legal professionals around the UK and to coordinate all Strategic Legal Advice Committee (SLAC) meetings. These meetings will be held online, across the UK. Each SLAC group will hold four meetings per year as well as emergency meetings where necessary. You will be responsible for the minute taking of all SLAC meetings. You will work with the Director of Strategic Litigation and Advice to set member-led meeting agendas, identify member training needs, facilitate training, update the SLAC website, and feed in to monitoring and evaluation of the project. You will be responsible for coordinating SLAC Steering Committee meetings.

About you

The position would suit a self-motivated individual who is passionate about the sector and is looking to further their career in the immigration world, through coordinating and organising these two projects at ILPA.

You may be keen to be working at the heart of the systemic changes following Brexit, recent significant legislation, including the Nationality and Borders Act 2022, Illegal Migration Act 2023, Safety of Rwanda (Asylum and Immigration) Act 2024, Border Security, Asylum and Immigration Act 2025, and government initiatives to “reduce net migration” such as the increased Minimum Income Requirement for family visas, the suspension of the refugee family reunion route, and earned settlement and family returns proposals. 

You will have an interest in strategic litigation and how it can be used to protect and promote the rights of those discriminated against on the basis of their migration status. You will be passionate about being involved in the coordination of a unique and exciting project that brings the third and legal sectors together in developing strategic litigation. 

Given the complexity of immigration, asylum and nationality law, we do not expect applicants to have expertise in every area, but an understanding of the law and excellent critical analysis skills are key. Any successful applicant will be able to attend ILPA training to further their knowledge.

Main responsibilities

1. To liaise, work with, and gather evidence from ILPA and SLAC members to support advocacy and knowledge-sharing in the sector;

2. To coordinate and contribute to internal and external meetings;

3. To coordinate ILPA’s thematic working groups and SLAC meetings, including by attending evening meetings, agenda-setting, participating, drafting minutes/meeting summaries, and working with the Secretariat, ILPA’s thematic Working Group co-convenors, and SLAC’s Steering Committees to take forward agreed actions;

4. To handle queries relevant to ILPA’s thematic Working Groups and SLAC sent by members and others where appropriate, such as by forwarding these on to relevant individuals and drafting responses;

5. To manage SLAC’s Steering Committees;

6. To monitor, organise, and disseminate information, communications, and updates, which will often relate to law, policy, and litigation relevant to SLAC and ILPA’s thematic Working Groups

7. To assist with facilitating SLAC training events, and feed into the monitoring and evaluation.

2. Experience of working in or with immigration, asylum and nationality law in the UK, such as in a caseworker or paralegal role;

About the Immigration Law Practitioners’ Association

The Immigration Law Practitioners’ Association (ILPA) is a charity and a professional association the majority of whose members are barristers, solicitors, advocates and IAA (previously OISC) regulated advisers practising in all aspects of immigration, asylum and nationality law. Academics, non-governmental organisations and individuals with a substantial interest in the law are also members.

About the ILPA Team 

You would be joining a small team, of around 10 team members. Purpose of job

As the Cathedral continues to implement its ten-year Strategic Plan and strengthen its governance structures to support an ambitious future vision, the Governance Officer will play an essential supporting role in ensuring the effective governance of Wells Cathedral.

Working closely with the Chief Operating Officer (as Chapter Clerk) who holds formal responsibility for Chapter governance, the postholder will support the systems, processes, and documentation that underpin the work of Chapter, its committees and the Cathedral’s responsibilities as a registered charity. The postholder will help to ensure high standards of compliance, accountability and good governance and uphold the Cathedral’s legal and charitable obligations.

As part of a diverse organisation responsible for worship, ministry, heritage stewardship, visitor engagement, and regulatory compliance, the Governance Officer plays a key role in maintaining smooth and transparent governance operations. This includes coordinating governance workflows; preparing, maintaining, and tracking key documents; supporting meetings; and assisting with reporting requirements consistent with the Cathedral’s dual regulation by the Charity Commission and Church Commissioners.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Specific tasks identified below, and any such other tasks as may be necessary to assist in the accurate and efficient operation of Cathedral governance.

Governance Processes and Administration

· Manage all administrative aspects related to the Cathedral's governance bodies, including the Chapter and sub-committees, including scheduling and tracking deadlines.

· Coordinate meetings, prepare agendas, and distribute relevant documentation to members in a timely manner.

· Record minutes of meetings and ensure accurate documentation of decisions and actions.

· Maintain up-to-date registers of Chapter and Committee members, their terms of office, attendance records, safeguarding training and declarations of interests.  Ensure that any conflicts of interest are properly reported to meetings and correctly managed.

· Support the recruitment, appointment and re-appointment of Chapter and Committee members including their induction and the completion of any safeguarding checks or training. Manage the process for annual Chapter effectiveness surveys.

· Advise on and manage any changes to the Cathedral’s constitution and statutes.

Regulatory Compliance

· Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, and uphold the Cathedral’s legal and charitable obligations as a registered charity regulated by the Charity Commission and Church Commissioners including advising on serious incident reporting.

· Stay abreast of relevant legislation, regulations, and best practices related to charity and Cathedral governance.

· Liaise with regulatory bodies as necessary to fulfil reporting obligations including submitting the Cathedral’s Annual Return to the Charity Commission in a timely manner.

· Ensure governance processes and documentation reflect current statutory and policy requirements. Ensure compliance with data protection legislation, including the UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018, by maintaining appropriate processes, documentation, and controls across the organisation.

Policy Development and Review

· Assist in the development, review, and implementation of governance policies, procedures, Committee terms of reference, individual role specifications and guidelines.

· Ensure policies are aligned with legal requirements, the Cathedral's mission, and best practices in governance.

· Facilitate communication and training to ensure awareness and understanding of governance policies among stakeholders.

· Ensure that all Cathedral policies are recorded and reviewed on a regular basis.

· Maintain up-to-date governance documents on the Cathedral’s website.

Risk Management 

· Support the identification, assessment, and management of risks related to governance matters. 

· Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to develop strategies to mitigate risks and strengthen internal controls. 

· Monitor emerging risks and trends in governance and recommend appropriate actions to mitigate potential impacts.

Board Support and Advice

· Provide secretariat support to governance bodies, advising on procedural matters, governance principles, and regulatory compliance as appropriate.
