You will have:

· Confident user of Microsoft Office, with an open and innovative approach to digital tools and emerging technologies (including AI).

· High levels of discretion, integrity and confidentiality.

· A good standard of general education, including English and Maths along with a relevant governance, legal or secretarial qualification or equivalent experience in governance, charity administration or company secretarial work

The Role

We are looking for a Learning Disability Practice and Projects Lead to lead a flagship new UK wide project (Making it Matter) to increase direct engagement with young people who have been historically excluded from engagement activities. You will drive change and improvement in learning disability practice through raising awareness of and leading the team that implements co-produced training workshops and promote best practice in support for people with severe learning disabilities.

You will also contribute to the leadership of the charity as a member of the Senior Management Team (SMT).

Responsibilities will include:

• Leading a five-year project to increase direct engagement with young people who have been historically excluded from engagement activities because they do not communicate using speech and/or are assessed as not having capacity
• Drive change and improvement in learning disability practice through training workshops
• Build on well-established relationships to promote best practice
• As a member of the Senior Management Team

About You

You will have empathy for individuals with severe learning disabilities and their families, with a deep understanding of the challenges they face. With strong team work and leadership skills and the ability to work collaboratively and get the best out of people, you will have experience of:

• Co-production and partnership working with family carers and people with learning disabilities
• The issues facing children, young people and adults with severe or profound learning disabilities, whose behaviours may be described as challenging and their families
• Best practice in supporting people with learning disabilities whose behaviours may be described as challenging
• Management and/or leadership experience relevant and transferrable to this role including people management, project leadership, experience of contributing to and representing organisational objectives and budget management

You will also have good IT skills, proficient in Office 365 applications including PowerPoint and SharePoint and able to learn and adapt to new applications

About the Organisation

This is a varied role in a friendly and supportive small national charity focussed specifically on the needs of children, young people and adults with severe learning disabilities whose behaviour challenges, and their families. There is no statutory funding and the organisation relies on voluntary income to fund its work.  Income is sourced primarily from Trusts and Foundations to maintain independence. About the role

The GROW trainee will be working with our specialist Drug and Alcohol Prevention and Recovery Service which supports people with current or previous substance misuse to maintain their home and live independently and with our Home at Last Team that supports people with current substance issues who are not in structured drug or alcohol treatment/have difficulties engaging with treatment, who are currently or at significant risk of rough sleeping to access temporary accommodation and resettle longer term.

This vacancy is an opportunity for you to gain experience working with a leading provider of homelessness and housing advice and support. You will be part of a thriving Hub of advice and support services in Sheffield, supporting vulnerable people. The traineeship is open to anyone who has previously experienced any form of substance misuse and can bring their insight of how substance misuse affects housing need.  The GROW trainee programme is an opportunity for us as an organisation to learn from your expertise. You will help us to develop our services in Sheffield and across Shelter at a national level, ensuring that they follow the principles of co-production and being trauma informed. You will use your experiences to bring knowledge and insight to influence this work.  You will also have the opportunity to be involved in other projects within the Hub.

You'll support local campaigns and strengthen connections between the lived experience involvement group and the Hub, making sure lived experiences are valued and included.

Shelter Sheffield has been providing housing advice and support to the city’s residents for over 20 years, specialising in emergency homelessness work, intensive support to children and families, people experiencing domestic abuse, and people experiencing multiple disadvantage. We offer a range of help to people in the community – including high intensity support, legal representation, housing advice, practical DIY assistance, and employment, training, and welfare benefits advice.  This model, while focusing on housing and homelessness, ensures that we can help an individual or family to address a range of inter-connected issues that may be impacting on their ability to sustain accommodation and thrive within the community. These issues include physical and mental health conditions, drug and alcohol use, income and money management, and domestic abuse.

We deliver housing and homelessness awareness raising and targeted advice sessions in a range of community settings. We aim to build the understanding and capacity of communities to take action on housing issues for themselves. We work in partnership and collaboration with many organisations to address the broken housing system.

As Head of Direct Dialogue, you will set the vision and strategy for one of Shelter’s most vital acquisition channels. This is a senior leadership role within the Individual Giving team, responsible for managing a £4m investment budget to deliver sustainable, long-term growth across cause-led and lottery products.

The Finance Lead has a crucial role in assisting the Head of Finance with ensuring the effective running of the Finance department, taking responsibility for the management and oversight of the day to day operations of the Finance function of the Charity and its trading subsidiary.

To thrive in this position, you’ll need to take responsibility for the management and oversight of the day-to-day operations of the finance function of our charity and its trading subsidiary.

Key responsibilities include:
• Managing the bank relationships including bank accounts and cash positions to ensure accuracy within the CRM and finance system.
• Managing the accounts receivable, accounts payable, procure to pay and general ledger functions of the charity in accordance with the chart of accounts to ensure the integrity of the management and statutory accounts.
• Working alongside the People and Culture Team and the charity’s external payroll provider to receive, reconcile and input the monthly payroll into the finance system.
• Maintaining the charity’s investment positions and accurately reflecting the current market values in the accounts.
• Assisting with the preparation of the quarterly management accounts as well as the preparation of the annual accounts for inclusion within the annual report ensuring they are compliant with the FRS 102 and the Charity SORP.
• Being a key representative during the annual financial audit process including the production of auditable working papers to ensure audit completion.
• Managing the day-to-day finance function of the charity’s trading arm, Red Balloon Trading, including assisting with the quarterly VAT return and the preparation of the annual accounts.
• Maintaining the integrity of the charity ledger, ensuring all transactions reflect a true and accurate position of the charity as well as maintaining the records for creation of new funds, customers and suppliers.
• Delivering line management of two Senior Finance Officers. Providing guidance with all day-to-day activities, being a role model and mentor to aid their personal and professional development.
• Liaising regularly with external bodies as well as maintaining strong relationships with all departments within the charity.

The role

This is a strategic and hands-on position, perfect for a fundraiser who loves building something new. You'll lead the development of new income streams, grow philanthropic and major gifts support, and work closely with senior leadership to strengthen the organisation's long-term financial sustainability.

You'll also line manage a newly formed team including a Fundraising Manager and a Marketing & Communications Manager, so experience of coaching and developing people is important.

About you

You'll have direct UK charity fundraising experience and a strong track record of securing six-figure income through trusts and foundations, major gifts or corporate foundations. You'll be an outstanding communicator, a collaborative colleague and someone who genuinely cares about social mobility.

Lived experience of the challenges faced by young people from underserved backgrounds is warmly welcomed, though not essential.

About the Role

We are seeking a Brief Intervention ISVA to deliver rapid, flexible, trauma‑informed support to survivors. This role ensures survivors receive immediate, equitable assistance while navigating the criminal justice system or waiting for longer-term support.
