Job description

Inspire young people. Lead unforgettable STEM experiences. We have vacancies across the UK, especially the Scottish Highlands & Islands.

Looking for a flexible role where you can inspire the next generation while developing your experience in education, youth engagement and outreach?

EDT is seeking enthusiastic STEM Programme Workers to deliver hands-on STEM experiences for young people across Scotland. As a STEM Programme Worker, you will help students build confidence, develop future skills and discover exciting career pathways.

Why Join EDT?

Passionate about creating equitable access to STEM careers

Dynamic in our response to a changing world

Collaborative with industry, educators and communities

Respectful of young people's potential and lived experiences

Why You'll Love This Role

This isn't a traditional classroom role.

One day you could be facilitating hands-on engineering challenges, the next supporting young people on an immersive residential programme, helping them discover future career pathways and build confidence in their abilities.

You'll play a vital role in creating memorable experiences that change how young people see themselves and their futures. Every programme you support helps students develop skills, confidence and aspirations that can last a lifetime.

What You'll Be Doing - please see Job Description for more detail

  • Deliver engaging STEM workshops, challenges and educational activities
  • Lead and support groups of young people in safe, inclusive learning environments
  • Provide safeguarding and pastoral support throughout programmes
  • Motivate students to participate, collaborate and build confidence
  • Work with schools, industry partners, volunteers and EDT colleagues
  • Support programme logistics, attendance monitoring and participant feedback

Who We're Looking For

  • Experience working with young people, education, community projects or STEM outreach
  • Confident communication and presentation skills
  • Positive, organised and adaptable approach
  • Passion for helping young people achieve their potential
  • Ability to travel and support occasional residential programmes

What's In It For You?

  • £122 per day (£15.25 per hour) plus 14.54% holiday pay
  • Flexible sessional work around your existing commitments
  • Opportunities throughout the year, including school holiday programmes
  • Travel time and expenses reimbursed in line with EDT Policy
  • Meaningful work that positively impacts young people's futures
  • Join a respected charity transforming lives through STEM education

Locations

We have vacancies across the Uk but are especially interested in those applicants based in:

  • Aberdeenshire
  • Angus
  • Argyll and Bute
  • Scottish Highlands
  • Scottish Islands
