The Role

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, and as a member of the Senior Management Team, you will lead our fundraising strategy and team to secure significant, multi-year income from corporates, trusts and foundations, and major donors. You’ll be responsible for expanding our funding base, deepening key relationships, and ensuring STEM Learning has the partnerships and resources to achieve its ambitious mission.

About the role
The purpose of this role is to drive policy development across our policy priority areas. The Policy Officer will lead on specific policy projects, commissioning research, developing policy positions, and producing reports and consultation responses.  

This role will cover a broad range of issues across one of our strategic goals – prevention and diagnosis; access to treatment; and living well with arthritis. Our approach considers the needs of people of all ages who have arthritis.               

The Policy Officer will also contribute to the wider work of the team, working closely with colleagues in the Nations Teams, the Research Directorate and the wider charity, including by representing us on cross-sector policy groups, drafting briefings, and participating in events and conferences.

The Clean Air Fund is looking to recruit three Analysts for the EU Portfolio to join their team in London or Brussels. As an Analyst in the EU Portfolio you will play a critical role in Clean Air Fund supporting delivery of projects at both pan-European and national level across nine Member States in the European Union. This includes project and grant management, as well as the design and management of partnerships with a wide variety of grantee partners including civil society organisations, research institutions  (think-tanks and universities) and industry. The geographical scope of these grants will be at the national level and / or the pan-European level.  You will work on projects across the two-year programme on AAQD transposition and implementation as part of the Europe team under the guidance of Project Director in a matrix system.  Tasks will combine managing and supporting a set of grants, as well as managing and supporting a wide range of projects and workstreams across the breath of the organization.

This is an exciting time to join Dementia UK’s growing Community Fundraising team as a Community Fundraising Executive (Acquisition), which is expanding in response to sustained year-on-year growth and our ambitious five-year organisational strategy.

You’ll be at the forefront of inspiring new supporters to take action, creating engaging website and digital content and leading national acquisition campaigns that empower individuals, groups and communities to make a difference for families affected by dementia. You’ll help shape the future of our community fundraising programme by championing innovation, creativity and data-driven decision-making.

Working closely with colleagues across Fundraising, Digital Marketing and Communications, you’ll ensure our digital presence is vibrant, accessible and aligned with supporter needs. You’ll also collaborate with external suppliers to produce high-quality, on-brand materials and contribute to the development of new Community Fundraising products that drive acquisition and supporter engagement.

We’re looking for someone with experience in community fundraising, marketing or supporter acquisition, who thrives on turning insight into action and has a passion for creating compelling experiences that attract and inspire. This is a role for a creative thinker with strong project coordination skills and a commitment to helping families affected by dementia.

This is a key role in fulfilling CEASE’s aim to drive legislative reform that strengthens accountability, scrutiny and regulation of all parts of the commercial sex industry and other vested commercial interests, which are driving sexual violence, abuse and exploitation. It is about holding the UK government accountable in its duty to protect citizens from high-harm industries, appealing to robust evidence, survivor testimony and a careful critical analysis of the ideological justifications that uphold it. 

The work crosses multiple different areas, from policing, online safety and child protection to violence against women and girls (VAWG). It involves close collaboration with experts and partner organisations through strategic partnerships and coalitions, and the building of trusted relationships with MPs, Peers, civil servants and other decision-makers.

This role sits within the Activism strand of CEASE’s strategy, alongside media outreach and commercial advocacy, and works closely with the Chief Executive and Strategic Director 

Main Duties and Responsibilities

A. Strategic Leadership

• Work closely and effectively with the Chief Executive, Strategic Director and Trustees to advise on priorities and opportunities within this space.

• Develop both short- and long-term political strategies to engage key stakeholders with CEASE’s policy solutions.

• Identify and formulate strategies for gathering robust evidence on key issues where needed.

• Shape policy recommendations in line with CEASE’s strategic priorities and emerging trends.

• Ensure all external engagement reflects CEASE’s values and core messaging.

• Contribute political intelligence and insight to CEASE’s wider strategic planning and organisational development.

B. Policy

Goal: To ensure CEASE’s policy recommendations are robust, evidence-based, survivor-informed and coherent.

• Gather and present evidence on commercial and cultural drivers of sexual abuse and exploitation, and on systemic failures in regulation and enforcement.

• Identify evidence gaps and devise effective means for CEASE or partners within our networks to fill them.

• Produce policy briefings and consultation responses for parliamentarians and civil servants, often in collaboration with allies.

• Monitor parliamentary business in Westminster, analysing legislation and proposing amendments grounded in evidence and framed for maximum impact.

• Develop CEASE’s positions on new and emerging issues and technologies in line with our mission.

• Prepare speeches and statements for the Chief Executive or Strategic Director to deliver to parliamentarians, committees and inquiries.

• Integrate survivor insight and lived experience into policy and advocacy materials wherever appropriate.

• Analyse, distil and present research findings to provide credible, compelling evidence for policymakers and stakeholders.

• Track engagement outcomes and evaluate the impact of CEASE’s policy work, sharing learning internally.

C. Public Affairs

Goal: To ensure CEASE’s policy recommendations are seen, heard and acted upon.

• Create opportunities to promote CEASE’s policy solutions in Westminster through roundtables, drop-ins and parliamentary events.

• Engage directly with decision-makers, building trusted relationships across parties and with key officials.

• Identify and support parliamentarians who can champion CEASE’s issues through speeches, strategic questions, debate briefings and Private Members’ Bills.

• Build and maintain relationships with MPs, Peers, civil servants and officials in relevant government departments (Home Office, DCMS, DfE, etc.); participate in select committees and APPGs.

• Monitor the political landscape to identify alignment between CEASE’s goals and current government priorities, debates and legislative timetables.

• Collaborate with colleagues to nurture relationships with key stakeholders such as charities, public bodies, academic institutions, industry figures and experts.

• Lead or contribute to policy-focused coalitions and alliances aimed at influencing government and legislative reform.

• Support wider campaigns that leverage coalition backing (e.g. petitions, iParls or media initiatives), aligning messaging across CEASE’s team to amplify impact.

• Track and evaluate the reach and influence of CEASE’s public affairs activities to inform ongoing strategy.

D. Research

• Maintain awareness of political and legal developments in other countries and international bodies such as the UN.

• Commission or collaborate on research that strengthens CEASE’s evidence base and credibility.

• Distil complex research and policy information into accessible formats for internal and external audiences, in collaboration with the Chief Executive and Strategic Director.

• Work with the wider CEASE team to “demystify” the political process and support civic and grassroots engagement.

E. Fundraising

• Identify potential donors and funding opportunities through policy networks.

• Contribute to the development of compelling funding cases linked to CEASE’s policy impact and advocacy outcomes.

General Responsibilities

• Represent CEASE externally to promote its work and values.

Job Summary

The BSR education programme is a key benefit to members and the wider rheumatology community, providing updates on the essentials needed to deliver top-quality care for patients and ensuring professional development opportunities. 

This role sits within the Education team who are responsible for delivering BSR’s educational activity. Working alongside the Head of Education, the Education & Events Manager, Event Executive (Education) and the Digital Events Manager, you will assist in the planning and delivery of a range of education courses, webinars, bursary schemes and digital learning activities. You will work with the team to support the work of our Education Committee, Trainee Committee and Digital Learning Board. 

This is an exciting role for someone looking to get further hands-on experience in planning and executing a variety of educational events and activities and liaising with multiple stakeholders. It is a unique opportunity to be part of the team at the forefront of rheumatology education, making a tangible impact on the professional development of members and the broader rheumatology community.

Main Responsibilties 

Event & Course Coordination

• Lead on course and webinar registration processes, including delegate bookings, communications, data management and reporting, and producing delegate materials.
• Support course logistics including venue sourcing and management, accommodation and travel, catering and AV.
• Support stakeholder management at education courses, including communications with patients, sponsors and event supporters.
• Occasional travel, including attendance and overnight stays at BSR courses, conferences and events.
   

Systems & Data Management

• Oversee the team’s CRM (Microsoft Dynamics) and registration systems, ensuring data integrity, implementing system enhancements, coordinating stakeholders, and carrying out testing.

Project Coordination

•  Coordinate the rheumatology training webinar series, including topic development, speaker management and live delivery.
• Coordinate the education bursary programme, including promotion, application management and financial reconciliation.
• Coordinate Continuing Professional Development (CPD) accreditation of educational activities.
• Support the delivery of digital sponsorship and educational partnership opportunities.

Marketing & Communications

• Work with the Marketing and Communications team to create digital content to engage target audiences, including providing content for webpages, newsletters and delegate communications.

General Duties

• Manage the events inbox and education team enquiries, delivering excellent customer service and being the main point of contact for the team.
• Input into education budgets by monitoring progress against income and expenditure for owned projects.
• Support on reporting for and evaluation of all education activities and outputs, identifying impact and ways to improve.
• Support with BSR Committee liaison and logistics.
• Undertake any other reasonable duties as required by the Head of Education and the Education & Events Manager.

Please note: This role will require travel and overnight stays, for example at our in-person courses. As we are a small team you’ll have the opportunity to get involved in cross-departmental projects, lead or contribute to agile sprint working and support wider business needs. There are other opportunities to get involved with our staff forum or peer group meetings.

Person Specification

1.  Enthusiastic about all aspects of education and CPD, self-motivated, and eager to contribute to educational initiatives. 
2.  Proven event planning or coordination experience (preferably within education and training, healthcare, or professional membership sectors). 
3.  Experience of working on a variety of digital systems, including CRM, and quick to pick up new programs. 
4.  Confidence to manage stakeholders at all levels and to deal with external contacts. 
5.  Professional and personable when communicating with members, customers and volunteers.
6.  Confident time and project management skills as you’ll be working on various projects simultaneously.
